Far from religion, close to death: Non-religious people's death and life perception in Turkey in the context of terror management theory
Bu bağlamda bu çalışmada Dehşet Yönetimi Kuramı çerçevesinde Türkiye’de dine uzak bireylerin hayatı ve ölümü nasıl anlamlandırdığı; ölüm algısı, zorlu durumlarla başa çıkma stratejileri ve hayat amacı başlıkları çerçevesinde incelenmektedir...The perception of death and life within paradigms are two elements that mutually shape each other. Religions offer their followers ideas and behavioral patterns regarding making sense of life and death. It is a matter of curiosity how people who are far from religion in Turkey, where the majority are Muslim, make sense of death and life. In this context, this study examines how religiously distant individuals in Turkey make sense of life and death within the framework of Terror Management Theory, under the headings of perception of death, strategies for coping with difficult situations, and purpose of life..

Unravelling crash risk transmission: Cryptocurrency impact on stock markets in G-7 and China
In this paper, we use the Empirical Bayes estimation and multiple linear regression approach to examine the impact of the top 5 cryptocurrencies’ crash risks on the G-7 and China equity markets’ crash risks. MATLAB was used to calculate the crash risks, while Stata software was employed for the econometric analysis. Three crash risk measures are used to validate the robustness of the results: (i) the relative frequency of the number of crash days in the market, (ii) the monthly returns’ skewness, and (iii) the down-to-up volatility. Our findings indicate that overall crash risks of the top 5 cryptocurrencies are positively related with G-7 and Chinese stock markets’ crash risk. This suggests that the crash risk transmits from the crypto to the equity markets and the crashes in crypto can serve as a predictor in the stock markets. Furthermore, there is a negative correlation between the historical crash risks of the G-7 stock market and the present crash risks of the same stock market. This suggests that past stock market crashes can serve as a predictive factor for assessing the current risk of a stock market crash
The reform process of the European Court of Human Rights

Laying the foundations: Scrutinizing Qur’anic exegesis in the first three hijri centuries
Tafsir, the interpretation of the Qur’an, holds significant importance in Islamic studies. Its origins trace back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad, who provided interpretations of certain Qur’anic verses. The companions whom the Prophet trained also played a crucial role in the development of tafsir. Tabi’in, the successors of the companions, were the students of the students of the Prophet, so their efforts also contributed to tafsir. In the first three centuries of the hijri calendar, tafsir developed a lot, and its foundation was laid down. The paper examines the evolution of tafsir in the first three centuries. It begins by defining tafsir and its historical background. It then delves into the details of tafsir during the first, second and third centuries, highlighting the dominant schools of interpretation, the process of compiling tafsir, known as tadwin, and how it evolved from being part of the literature of hadith to becoming a separate field of study. It also addresses important issues such as the influence of Israeliyyat in tafsir and how tafsir developed into a distinct part of Islamic sciences. Overall, this paper sheds light on the significant role played in the first three centuries in the development and evolution of tafsir
Link between digital technologies adoption and sustainability performance: Supply chain traceability/resilience or circular economy practices
Technological progress and digitalization have ushered in significant transformations in business strategies. At present, research is scarcely focused on the influence of the adoption of digital technologies (DTs) on establishing comprehensive relationships within the context of a circular economy (CE), and the supply chain (SC) framework to contribute to the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory. This study utilizes survey data collected from 235 manufacturing practitioners employed by Turkish manufacturing enterprises to explore a model elucidating the relationship between DTs adoption and sustainability performance (SP) through supply chain traceability (SCT), supply chain resilience (SCR), and circular economy practices (CEPs), based on 10R strategies. Through this linkage, this research accentuates that the exclusive integration of CEPs with digital technology solutions is insufficient for industrial enterprises to attain their long-term sustainability goals. It underscores the necessity of ensuring SCT and/or SCR in this context
Sustainability assessment of biomass-based energy supply chain using multi-objective optimization model
In recent years, population growth and lifestyle changes have led to an increase in energy consumption worldwide. Providing energy from fossil fuels has negative consequences, such as energy supply constraints and overall greenhouse gas emissions. As the world continues to evolve, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and finding alternative energy sources becomes increasingly urgent. Renewable energy sources are the best way for all countries to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while reducing pollution. Biomass as a renewable energy source is an alternative energy source that can meet energy needs and contribute to global warming and climate change reduction. Among the many renewable energy options, biomass energy has found a wide range of application areas due to its resource diversity and easy availability from various sources all year round. The supply assurance of such energy sources is based on a sustainable and effective supply chain. Simultaneous improvement of the biomass-based supply chain's economic, environmental and social performance is a key factor for optimum network design. This study has suggested a multi-objective goal programming (MOGP) model to optimize a multi-stage biomass-based sustainable renewable energy supply chain network design. The proposed MOGP model represents decisions regarding the optimal number, locations, size of processing facilities and warehouses, and amounts of biomass and final products transported between the locations. The proposed model has been applied to a real-world case study in Istanbul. In addition, sensitivity analysis has been conducted to analyze the effects of biomass availability, processing capacity, storage capacity, electricity generation capacity, and the weight of the goals on the solutions. To realize sensitivity analysis related to the importance of goals, for the first time in the literature, this study employed a spherical fuzzy set-based analytic hierarchy method to determine the weights of goals
Orta Asya ülkeleri neden bölgesel bütünleşmeyi başaramıyor?
In the international relations literature, regional studies have started to emerge in order to take a closer look at regional policies, especially after the independence of many countries after the Second World War. One of the most important topics of analysis in these studies has been regional organizations. These organizations, which have the capacity to provide many useful outputs such as security, politics and socio-economics within the region, play an important role in ensuring peace and stability. Regional organization initiatives have been undertaken by the Central Asian states that declared their independence with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The post-Soviet era in Central Asia witnessed a surge in regional integration initiatives, yet these endeavors have consistently fallen short of their intended goals. This thesis investigates the underlying reasons for this phenomenon, arguing that the legacy of Russian colonialism, dating back to the Tsarist era, remains a significant obstacle to regional cooperation. While existing literature often attributes this lack of integration to factors such as economic complementarity, regime types, nation-building, external interference, and competition for regional leadership, this thesis introduces a new perspective on the impact of colonialism by taking into account the important historical fact of nearly 150 years of Tsarist and Soviet colonial policy. This thesis will answer the reason for the failure of the regional organizations in Central Asia as colonialism. The historical trajectory of the region, shaped by Russian domination, has created deep-rooted challenges that impede regional integration. The lasting legacies of the colonial era have manifested themselves in several key areas. In this thesis, the consequences of this legacy will be explained through the inherited security problems, the remaking of the economic structure, the legacy of authoritarian regimes, the problems of nation-building and identity, and finally the state crises.

Over the years, the only source of revenue for airports has been aircraft-related operations. This trend changed when Low-Cost Carriers (LLC) entered the aviation market with a new dimension of business operations. The low-cost carrier business model ensures low operating costs, allowing airlines to charge low fares to passengers and, in turn, provide them with few or no extra services. Airport operators have seen high passenger volume as a positive means of developing business strategies with commercial benefits. This caused airport managers to shift their focus from aeronautics to non-aeronautics services to generate more revenue. This study uses time-series data from 2008 to 2022 to investigate the determinants of non-aeronautical revenue (NAR) at The Gambia's only airport, Banjul International Airport. It tests the correlations/impact of non-aeronautical revenue on total revenue and the impact of the determinants of non-aeronautical revenue on total revenue. The NAR and passenger segment relations by route type and low-cost carriers were also tested. The BIA is state-owned and operated by the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). GCAA is the Authority that handles the aviation industry's regulatory aspects and airport operations. BIA generates most of its revenue through aeronautic services but has a strategic plan to focus more on non-aeronautic revenue, which is manifested through the expansion project. This study uses ordinary least squares to estimate a model of the determinant of NAR, with NAR as the dependent variable. The results will inform the relevant authorities at the airport on which determinant has more influence on NAR and its relations to passengers of different categories.Yıllar boyunca, havalimanlarının tek gelir kaynağı uçaklarla ilgili operasyonlar olmuştur.
