MULTİMOORA yöntemi ile kabin ekibi seçimi: Bir hava yolu şirketinde uygulama
Businesses operating in the developing world need to keep a close eye on innovation to remain competitive and ensure continuity. To achieve this, they must undertake various activities that will promote the image of their businesses. To achieve success, profitability, and quality, it is crucial to hire the best staff. In a highly competitive market, it is important that human resources possess high-level skills, receive adequate training, and remain loyal to the company. Due to these reasons, human resources management is becoming ever more critical. Effective human resources management plays a critical role in the aviation industry, especially as it is affected by changing living conditions. Cabin services are particularly important in shaping the public perception of airline companies. The cabin crew interacts directly with passengers and carries out tasks that can leave a lasting positive or negative impression. Therefore, the recruitment process for cabin crew must be conducted with great care to ensure that customer expectations are met. Turkish Airlines conducted a study to identify the ideal personnel for cabin crew. This study took into account the competencies and characteristics that Turkish Airlines values in its cabin crew. To address the subjectivity and variability that can occur during the personnel selection process, the study recommended using the Multimoora approach, which is a multi-criteria decision-making technique.
Stock market tumble sparks crypto chaos: A crash risk spillover analysis
The study employs an empirical Bayesian estimation approach to examine how the crash risk of the G-7 (United States [US], United Kingdom [UK], Japan, Germany, Canada, and France excluding Italy) and Chinese equity markets affects the crash risk of the top 11 cryptocurrencies. Two crash risk measures were adopted to determine the monthly crash risk of the two types of markets, which are the most appropriate for skewed returns. Four separate models were estimated using the empirical Bayes estimation method because it considers heterogeneity, is more efficient than least squares, and facilitates more accurate coefficient estimation. The results reveal that the German stock market's crash risks are significantly and contemporaneously associated with the crash risk of all 11 cryptocurrencies, indicating that the German equity market is not a reliable diversifier for cryptocurrencies. The crash risks of the US, UK, and Japanese (German and Canadian) equity markets have a positive (negative) impact on the crash risk of cryptocurrency markets with a one-month lag. Generally, lagged crash risks have a more substantial influence on cryptocurrency crash risk, suggesting that historical crashes in equity markets are better predictors of cryptocurrency crashes. The one-month significant delay effect may present arbitrage opportunities because the risk of crashes in stock markets may signal potential crashes in cryptocurrencies one month in advance. A series of robustness checks confirmed the results of the analysis and the validity of our conclusions. These findings suggest that crypto investors and policy-makers should pay attention to historical events in equity markets. Investors and portfolio managers in the cryptocurrency market should monitor unexpected fluctuations in the stock market, particularly significant declines that could result in significant losses in the future
Assessing the impact of seasonal changes on advertising revenues in the age of digitalization and sustainability: A print-visual media business example
This study mainly aimed to investigate the impact of seasonal changes on media advertising revenues (AR) in R environment through a visual-print media company example. So, the study primarily aimed to examine whether visual, print and internet ARs were affected by seasonal change. The study also aimed to indicate the trends of visual/ print/ and internet ARs over time in the light of seasonality. Furthermore, it was also aimed to make AR estimates for the next year with the best performing methods covering ARIMA and ETS. Methodologically, R programming language and its libraries were used together with ARIMA and ETS time series models. The data set consisted of a monthly ARs series consisting of 180 rows covering the period between January/2007-December/2021 and having a sufficient number of observations for the application of the models. Data were analyzed with R and next year’s forecasts were done with ARIMA and ETS. The study revealed that all AR types were affected by seasonal changes in the specified period and included seasonality, i.e. specially in the summer months. Additionally, it was observed that AR types have different trends despite containing seasonality. The study found that visual ARs denoted a slight downward trend including seasonality during the period. It was also indicated that print ARs reflected a very rapid and drastic downward trend covering seasonality. The study also revealed that internet ARs showed a very rapid and sharp upward trend compared to the other two AR types despite having seasonality. Furthermore, taking into account the calculated error metrics, it was found that the ARIMA model showed the best estimation performance in both i.e. visual and internet ARs. On the other hand, the ETS model indicated the best estimation performance in print ARs. Accordingly, estimations of the visual/print and internet ARs for the next year were made with the best performing methods. It was pointed out that estimated ARs included seasonality in the summer months and revealed similar results to the previous trends based on historical data
Banks’ acceptance of cryptocurrency within the framework of the amendments to the Swiss Banking Law and its relationship with the deposit agreement
Cryptocurrency technology is gradually developing and people’s interest in cryptocurrency as a means of payment or investment is increasing. However, the fact that cryptocurrency differs from traditional money both technically and qualitatively leads legislators to regulate this issue. In this framework, the Swiss Banking Act has been amended in recent years to regulate that banks or non-bank financial actors can accept cryptocurrencies. However, it is unclear whether the cryptocurrencies accepted by the bank can create the deposit relationship that occurs when traditional money is deposited in the bank. This is because the elements of “money” and “transfer of the ownership of the money to the bank” must be met in order for a deposit relationship to be in question. A custody relationship between the bank and the customer that does not contain these elements cannot be considered as a deposit relationship. For this reason, it is necessary to accept cryptocurrencies collected from the public by banks or non-bank financial actors as custodial assets, not as deposits, and to emphasise that crypto assets entrusted to the bank within this framework are not covered by deposit insurance
The No-Self Thesis: counterarguments from abnormal psychology
The no-self thesis is said to originate in David Hume’s1 “bundle theory of self,” questioning the human self as a mere bundle of fleeting perceptions without ontological reality. In contemporary discourse, the self is sandwiched between top-down and bottomup reductionisms: those with biological and cognitive arguments that reduce the self to a lower, ontological level, on the one hand, and those who hold cultural-linguistic constructionist positions, on the other hand, reducing the self to a higher level. In both cases, self reductionism is a prelude to complete self elimination. On these conceptions, what we call “self” may be nothing other than an unintended by-product of brain processes. Nevertheless, a cursory literature review suggests that the self firmly remains indispensable to almost every contemporary field of inquiry. Research and publications on the topic of the self have increased significantly in recent years across a number of disciplines. This paper aims to offer insights into the question of the self and its realities from the perspective of Abnormal Psychology. Although conventional Psychiatry is not directly invested in exploring the concept of “self” per se, the elaborate symptomatology and in-depth treatment of disorders in practice is indispensably linked to patients’ sense of self. In fact, a wide range of psychological and psychiatric disorders nowadays are increasingly being formally re-defined in terms of the “self”. Above and beyond to what has come to be known as the “new disorders of the self”, relevance of the self applies to classic categories of dissociation, autism, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and more. The pathological alternatives to a healthy sense of self are abound, and no effective psychotherapeutic intervention can be imagined without the concept of self

Stock market response to natural disasters: Does corporate sustainability performance make difference?
This study aims to examine the short-term price reactions of the stocks listed on Borsa Istanbul (BIST) after the severe earthquake of February 6, 2023, that happened in the southeastern region of Türkiye covering 11 provinces and causing more than 50,000 fatalities. Using a sample of 450 companies listed on the BIST All Index, this study estimates the abnormal returns (ARs) of stocks by employing an event study methodology. Using BIST 100 companies as a sub-sample, this study also explores whether sustainability performance creates resilience against downside risk after the earthquake. The results of the market model and the mean-adjusted model show that on the event day, most of the sectors had negative and significant ARs, while only the non-metal mineral products had positive and significant ARs. Most of the sectors continued to decline in the following 10 days except basic metal and non-metal mineral products sectors. The telecommunications sector was the most negatively affected sector in both models after the event day as it has underperformed in ensuring uninterrupted access to communication. The findings also indicate that firms in the financial sector that have higher sustainability performance are more resilient in responding to the disaster
Human dignity from an Islamic perspective: Concepts and theoretical base
The issue of dignity is pivotal not only in matters concerning mortality but also in various critical domains from the moment of human birth. It necessitates an interdisciplinary and holistic examination, considering its religious, philosophical, moral, and legal dimensions. This paper aims to contribute to the discourse by evaluating the concept of human dignity from an Islamic legal perspective. Modern views are not extensively covered, as the objective is to present classical approaches that have influenced current debates, rather than addressing contemporary discussions directly. We aim to explore how the concept of human dignity is reflected, particularly in human actions, which can only be adequately conveyed through Islamic legal texts. Furthermore, the paper examines the practical manifestations of this theory through specific examples
Sri Sukuk to achieve SDGs with a special reference to the legal and regulatory framework in Malaysia
Malaysia has the leadership in developing Islamic socially responsible investing (SRI) and green finance. This study aims to highlight the importance of issuing SRI sukuk to achieve sustainable development and point out the incentives which attract investors to participate in the SRI sukuk within its legal and regulatory framework. This study has adopted a qualitative approach by analysing previous literature, as well as examining Malaysian SRI regulatory framework provisions. This study found that Malaysia is the key actor in provision of an environment requisite for issuing Sukuk aligned with SDGs such as SRI sukuk and SDG Sukuk. Promoting financing for SRI projects through issuing SRI sukuk will meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In order to attract more investors to subscribe to SRI sukuk, SC Malaysia is determined that SRI sukuk should be highly mandated to invest in green, social, sustainable and waqf dimensions. Moreover, the government of Malaysia (GoM) provides Tax incentives for SRI sukuk issuers, investors as well as brokers. For instance, the SRI sukuk issuer enjoys tax concessions on SRI sukuk issuance. Finally, SDG Sukuk Framework explains the Malaysian Government’s intention to utilize the SDG Sukuk to fund projects that will generate environmental and social benefits and also conform to sustainable development goals
