Social media and internet have had both positive and negative impacts on mental health, particularly as the world entered a new digital age. In the digital age, the rise of social media has changed how adolescents and young adults, particularly students in secondary and tertiary education connect, share, and communicate, though concerns have been raised about its potential psychological consequences. This study examines existing literature, draws upon empirical evidence, and reviews the impact of internet and social media on students' mental health, addressing negative aspects. While acknowledging the benefits of social media, this paper underscores the negative implications, such as cyberbullying and online harassment, social media dependency, and information overload and distraction, as these issues pose significant risks to students’ mental health and warrant focused attention

In pursuit of media and pedagogical excellence in the digital domain, this study examines the role of the Design-Based Research (DBR) process in using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to improve techno-pedagogical teacher-student communication. Against the backdrop of rapid digital transformation accelerated by global disruptions, integrating Canvas as a Learning Management System (LMS) is at the forefront of these investigative efforts. Using a mixed methods approach, the research drew on empirical data from structured rubrics (Quality Matters Rubric, Triple E Rubric) to examine higher education courses (n = 5) and thematic analysis from student interviews (n = 16), highlighting noticeable improvements in instructional delivery and student engagement. The results highlight that the DBR process plays a central role in refining educational strategies, with iterative design and evaluations. This investigation into the digital orchestration of teacher-student interactions provides valuable insights into the nuanced dynamics of media and educational technologies. The study concludes that strategic application of the DBR process within Canvas LMS can result in a more tailored, responsive, and quality-focused learning experience. Our study contributes to the ongoing dialogue about effective digital pedagogy and proposes a model of engagement that is resilient and adaptable to media professionals and ever-evolving landscape of higher education

    Individualism

    No full text
Individualism in international relations is a theoretical perspective which emphasizes the role and agency of individual actors, particularly states, in shaping the dynamics and outcomes of world politics. The approach has its roots in the emergence of the modern nation-state system and emphasizes state sovereignty, rationality, self-interest and agency. The idea of individualism is linked to the wider idea of the individual in Western Europe which can be traced to the Renaissance, and is seen in the work of nineteenth-century legal scholars. Here, the state is viewed as an individual endowed with agency; it can negotiate treaties, go to war and join international organizations. Individualism has generated significant debates and has implications for the practice of statecraft and for the study of world affairs. As the international system continues to evolve, the relevance and applicability of individualism in international relations is a subject of ongoing discussions

Batı'da üretilen normlar, prensipler ve fikirler ekseninde inşa edildiği iddia edilen liberal dünya düzenin sarsıldığı, Doğu ile Batı arasındaki gerginlik, çatışma ve rekabetin arttığı, gittikçe istikrarsız hale gelen ve böylece uluslararası sistemin belirsizleştiği bir ortamda kazan-kazan şeklindeki projelerle iş birliği çabalarının geliştirilmesi, dünyanın geleceği bakımından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Soğuk Savaş sonrasında anlamı değişen Avrasya Kavramı ve Avrasya coğrafyasının merkezini oluşturan ve bağımsızlığına kavuşan devletlerle genişleyen Türk dünyası da ekonomik kalkınma yoluyla refahını artırma ve sorunlarını çözme bakımından bu tür projelere ihtiyaç duymaktadır...In an environment where the liberal world ordem-claimed to have been built upon norms, principles, and ideas produced in the West-is being shaken, where tensions, conflicts, and rivalry between East and West are on the rise, and where the international system is becoming increasingly unstable an uncertain, the development of win-win projects and cooperative efforts is of great importance for the future of the world. In the post-Cold War era, the consept of Eurasia has changed in meaning, and the Turkish world-expanding with the newly independent states at the heart of this Eurasian geography-also requires such projects to increase its prosperity through economic development and to address its challenges

This paper defends the habitual performance of religious rituals, such as daily prayers, against the view that worship must always be mindful and focused on spiritual matters. Teachers in all religions emphasize the need for our minds to be engaged in the worship, yet this view overlooks the experiences of the body. Through habits, our bodies can have experiences that our minds may not recognize, or only partially recognize. Some of these experiences may involve a sense of unity with something greater than ourselves, which, for religious believers, may be interpreted as a religious encounter

International nursing students in non-English-speaking countries face significant challenges, including language barriers, cultural differences, and limited institutional support, particularly in clinical settings. Research on these issues in Turkey remains scarce. This study explores how language barriers, cultural adaptation, and institutional support impact the academic and clinical experiences of international nursing students in Turkey. It also examines their coping strategies for managing stress and adapting to new environments. A qualitative approach was adopted, involving semi-structured interviews with 30 international nursing students from Istanbul-based universities. Thematic analysis was conducted using Braun and Clarke’s framework, guided by Acculturation Theory and Social Support Theory. Seven themes emerged from the analysis: language barriers, cultural adaptation challenges, mental health struggles, lack of orientation programs, peer support, resilience, and inadequate institutional support. Language barriers were particularly problematic in clinical communication, intensifying stress levels. Participants highlighted the absence of tailored institutional programs, especially for mental health, as a major concern, while peer networks were identified as an essential coping mechanism. The findings underscore the need for Turkish universities to implement tailored support systems, including language training, orientation programs, and mental health resources. Strengthening peer support networks and providing culturally sensitive interventions can significantly enhance the academic and clinical experiences of international nursing students.İngilizce konuşulmayan ülkelerdeki uluslararası hemşirelik öğrencileri, özellikle dil engelleri, kültürel farklılıklar ve sınırlı kurumsal destek nedeniyle önemli zorluklarla karşılaşmaktadır.

    No full text
Environmental pollution, resource scarcity, and high energy consumption accelerated in the last decade have made the green transition imperative, and consequently, the European Union (EU) has led the way in implementing green policies. According to recent surveys, SMEs in the EU have made strides toward sustainability since 2018. However, the ongoing transition of SMEs needs to be further strengthened. The European Innovation Council was committed to supporting SMEs with funding to promote Green Deal innovation. Moreover, the Green, Digital, and Competitive SME Index was established to facilitate this transition. Existing literature indicates that research on assessing green transition and variations between or within countries is still in its early stages and demands further investigation. To the authors’ knowledge, no prior study has focused on measuring the green transition efficiency of SMEs. Given the critical importance of SMEs in the adoption of a green growth model, it is crucial to assess the green transition efficiency of SMEs across and within countries. This study addressed this gap by analyzing the green transition efficiency of European SMEs through the Green Transition pillar of the Green, Digital, and Competitive SME Index. In the study, European SMEs’ green transition efficiency was analyzed using various DEA models, including CCR (Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes), Cross-Efficiency, Aggressive, and Benevolent Models. The findings revealed that Sweden consistently emerged as the top performer, demonstrating strong overall capabilities. The Netherlands and Denmark also frequently ranked highly, indicating strong performance across various metrics. In contrast, Bulgaria, Romania, and Ireland consistently ranked lower, revealing ongoing performance issues. The study’s findings indicated that the overall performance of the DEA models closely aligns with the Green Transition pillar of the Green, Digital, and Competitive SME Index

Smart cities represent the forefront of combining technological innovation with urban management to enhance the quality of life and sustainability of urban environments. While existing studies have focused on individual smart city evaluations, there is a notable gap in systematic classification approaches that can handle uncertain and incomplete data in developing countries. As urban populations continue to grow, the strategic integration of smart technologies in city planning and management becomes crucial, necessitating more sophisticated evaluation methodologies. These technologies offer promising solutions to urban challenges by improving efficiency, economic growth, and citizen engagement. This research addresses this gap by proposing a novel framework that combines Interval Valued Neutrosophic Sets (IVNS) with the EDAS Method, specifically designed to handle the complexities and uncertainties inherent in developing country contexts. The study extensively reviews existing literature and methodologies applied in similar contexts, identifying key limitations in current approaches and building a robust framework that incorporates both new and established criteria. Through the systematic application of IVNS-EDAS methodology across multiple urban environments, this study develops a comprehensive classification system that accounts for both quantitative metrics and qualitative assessments of smart city capabilities. The results showcase a dynamic classification framework that effectively handles data uncertainty while providing clear, actionable insights for urban planners and policymakers. The paper concludes by validating the effectiveness of the proposed approach through a detailed computational study involving diverse stakeholders, confirming its applicability and utility in refining smart city strategies globally, particularly in developing country contexts where data reliability and completeness may be challenging. The study provides specific policy guidelines for each city classification, offering policymakers a structured framework for resource allocation and strategic planning, ranging from foundational infrastructure development in emerging cities to advanced technology integration in metropolitan areas
