In vitro shoot regeneration of Cucumis melo “Meloncella fasciata” with the combined use of 6-benzylaminopurine and cefotaxime
Cucumis melo “Meloncella fasciata” is cultivated and appreciated locally for its unripe fruits. Seed production of these landraces rely on local farmers but heterogeneity limits rapid scalability of this crop. Plant micropropagation techniques may be an alternative method for propagation but their use is limited by genetic instability. We concentrated on organogenesis from cotyledonary nodes, applying the plant growth regulator 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) combined with the antibiotic cefotaxime to reduce the negative effects of high cytokinin doses. It was observed that this antibiotic, in addition to limiting contamination, has a stimulatory effect on regeneration in several species including melon. Multiple shoot regeneration was achieved from explants within 30 days of cultivation. Explants regenerated adventitious shoots with all concentrations of BAP and cefotaxime, however efficiency varied significantly. Cefotaxime at a dose of 500 mg/L combined with BAP 0.5 mg/L induced an effect comparable to higher doses of BAP. Reducing BAP concentration was beneficial on shoot development, since excessive cytokinin concentrations can induce somaclonal variation. Thanks to the reduced quantity of BAP, no tetraploid cells could be observed in regenerated plants. We conclude that cefotaxime can be integrated in the propagation process providing multiple advantages including contamination control and reduced chromosomal instability
Enhancing Biodiversity and Environmental Sustainability in Intermodal Transport: A GIS-Based Multi-Criteria Evaluation Framework
Biodiversity is essential for the health and stability of our planet, contributing to ecosystem services like pollination, nutrient cycling, and climate regulation. However, it faces significant threats from human activities, including habitat destruction and pollution. Transportation infrastructure, if not carefully managed, can fragment habitats and disrupt wildlife migration, exacerbating biodiversity loss. Thus, incorporating environmental and biodiversity considerations into transport planning is crucial for promoting long-term sustainability. Accordingly, the goal of this paper is to define a framework for evaluating and ranking intermodal transport routes based on their impact on the environment and biodiversity. The study employs a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based Multi- Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) model, combining input from interactive GIS maps and stakeholders with a novel hybrid approach. The MCDM part of the model combines fuzzy Delphi and fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) methods for obtaining the criteria weights and the Axial Distance-based Aggregated Mea- surement (ADAM) method for obtaining the final ranking of the routes. This methodology application on several Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) routes revealed that the Hamburg/Bremerhaven–Wurzburg–Verona route had the least environmental and biodiversity impact. The study identified the Rotterdam–Milano route as the optimal choice, balancing sustainability, ecological preservation, and transport efficiency. The route minimizes ecological disruption, protects biodiversity, and aligns with European Union strategies to reduce environmental impact in infrastructure projects. The study established a framework for evaluating intermodal transport routes based on environmental and bio- diversity impacts, balancing efficiency with ecological responsibility. It makes significant contributions by integrating biodiversity criteria into transport planning and introducing a novel combination of GIS and MCDM techniques for route assessment

This essay reflects on the relationship between reality and words in Pasolini's work,
starting from a reflection by Tullio De Mauro who, speaking of the various idiomatic
realities of Pasolini, emphasized how for the poet corsair they were «in senso biografico
e proprio, altrettante [....] «forme di vita»» (De Mauro 1978, p. 250). We will look at the
words of the dialect, strongly iconic, "natural metaphors": they establish a connection
between sounds and representations so that man declines the surrounding reality and, at
the same time, distances himself from it. The words of the dialect, strongly evocative, are,
for Pasolini, the means to investigate reality, but also to shape and transfigure it. The word
of the Italian, on the other hand, that of the essayist, the journalist describes reality and
adheres to it. A glance is also directed at the recited word, that of the Teatro di Parola
adhering to social reality it represents

Il saggio si propone di esaminare la presenza di Galilei in alcuni poeti latini del suo tempo, con particolare riferimento all’ode Adulatio perniciosa di Maffeo Barberini, che documenta il legame dello scienziato con gli ambienti classicistici romani in una precisa fase della sua vita. Sono altresì esplorati i rapporti di Galilei con la variegata galassia della poesia gesuitica, che vide nelle sue scoperte scientifiche un’occasione creativa, almeno prima del processo e dell’abiura
