An Exploratory Analysis of the Implementation and Use of an Intelligent Platform for Learning in Primary Education
Smile and Learn is an intelligent platform with more than 4500 educational activities for children aged 3–12. The digital material developed covers all courses of primary education and most of the subjects with the different topic-related worlds with activities in the field of logics and mathematics, science, linguistics and tales, visual-spatial and cognitive skills, emotional intelligence, arts, and multiplayer games. This kind of material supports active learning and new pedagogical models for teachers to use in their lessons. The purpose of this paper is to explore the usage of the platform in three pilot groups schools from different regions of Spain, outlining future directions in the design of such digital materials. Usage is assessed via descriptive analysis and variance analysis, with data collected from users interacting with the intelligent platform. The results show a high use of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities among all the activities that could be chosen. Cross-curricular activities are also used. Continuation in the development of such materials is concluded necessary, focusing integration of different fields, accentuating games over quizzes, and the value of teacher training for improving their use in schools

Material y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, observacional y transversal.
Anxiety, reinforcement sensitivity and social context in accepting the experience of pain among rheumatoid arthritis patients
Background: Acceptance has become one of the most widely studied processes regarding chronic pain because of its ability to influence participants' adaptation and coping responses. Leading researchers have found relationships between variables such as anxiety, reinforcement sensitivity, and the responses of the participants' environment to their behavior and acceptance. In contrast, few studies have been found that investigate the variables that predict the acceptance of pain. This study has set out to explore the relationships between pain-related anxiety, sensitivity to contingencies, and the punishment responses of significant people toward pain behaviors regarding pain acceptance.
Methods: With a view to fulfilling this purpose, a cohort of 62 participants with rheumatoid arthritis was chosen, and the subjects were assessed through the following self-report measures: Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire, CPAQ; Pain Anxiety Symptoms Scale, PASS-20; The Sensitivity to Punishment and Sensitivity to Reward Questionnaire, SPSRQ, and The West Haven-Yale Multidimensional Pain Inventory, WHYMPI. The study's initial objectives were achieved by means of a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis.
Results: The linear regression analyses revealed a negative and significant correlation between anxiety, reinforcement sensitivity, and the significant persons' responses to pain behaviors and pain acceptance.
Conclusion: The results suggest that the identification of these variables might be important for addressing these participants' pain. Finally, the discussion focuses on our findings' implications as regards their use in clinical practice
Detection of SARS‑CoV‑2 antibodies is insufficient for the diagnosis of active or cured COVID‑19
We assessed the performance of Abbott's SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay and the PanbioTM COVID-19 IgG/IgM rapid test device for the diagnosis of either active or cured COVID-19. Three cohorts of patients were chosen. Cohort 1, patients (n = 65) who attended the emergency department on March 30, 2020 with clinical suspicion of active COVID-19 (n = 56 with proven/probable COVID-19). Cohort 2, hospital workers (n = 92) who had either been (n = 40) or not (n = 52) diagnosed with proven/probable COVID-19 and were asymptomatic at the time of the sampling. Cohort 3, patients (n = 38) cared at the hospital before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Detection of serum antibodies was done using Abbott´s SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay and the PanbioTM COVID-19 IgG/IgM device. Both methods showed 98% agreement for IgG detection. No antibodies were detected in the 38 samples from hospitalized pre-COVID subjects. The diagnostic performance of IgGs detected by Abbott´s SARS-CoV-2 assay in Cohorts 1/2 was: sensitivity (60.7%/75%) and specificity (100%/84.6%). The diagnostic performance of IgM by PanbioTM COVID-19 in Cohorts 1/2 was: sensitivity (16%/17.5%) and specificity (100%/98.1%). We show that IgG detection alone is insufficient for the diagnosis of active or cured COVID-19. IgM detection has a limited diagnostic value
Transition to Adulthood Autonomy Scale for Young People: Design and Validation
Given that autonomy is a fundamental process in the transition to adulthood, there
are several scales that measure the concept as a main construct or a constituent
feature of broader constructs. However, most of these scales are based on a notion
of autonomy focused on the individual, while the proposed scale aims to incorporate
the idea of the individual mediated by others and society. This article aims to show the
results of the design and validation process of the Transition to Adulthood Autonomy
Scale (EDATVA), which was developed using this approach. A group of 61 items with a
Likert-type response scale of four options was used on a sample of 1,148 Spanish and
Colombian individuals, aged between 16 and 21. A systematic process was performed
using an exploratory factorial analysis. Additional indexes were calculated from the
Rasch Model. The matrices obtained from the factorial analysis gave rise to a 4-factor
structure comprising a total of 19 items with weights >0.3. In the case of Spain,
the KMO test returned a value of 0.80 and in the case of Colombia, 0.83. In the
Rasch model, the Item Separation Reliability (0.99) indicates that the items constitute a
well-defined variable that meets the local independence assumption. Cronbach’s alpha
for the Spanish sample was 0.86 and for the Colombian sample 0.85. In conclusion,
this new scale consists of four dimensions: self-organization, understanding context,
critical thinking, and socio-political engagement. The scale is easy to use and interpret,
especially considering the age range of the target population and its possible uses
within the contexts of assessing and intervening in young people’s behavior. Due to its
characteristics, it can be used in family, educational, and social contexts. This scale is
valuable for research because its optimal psychometric properties provide an alternative
way of understanding autonomy. This paper documents the study performed by the research groups Psychology, Life Cycle and Rights, from the Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Santo Tomás (Colombia) and TABA International Research, Social Inclusion and Human Rights, UNED (Spain), directed by Professor Teresita Bernal

Chaotic signals inside some tick-by-tick financial time series
It has been more than four decades since ideas from chaos began appearing in the literature showing that it is possible to design economic models in regime of chaotic behaviour from a theoretical point of view. However there is no clear evidence that economic time series behave chaotically. So far researchers have found substantial evidence for nonlinearity but relatively weak evidence for chaos. In this paper we propose a possible explanation to this ”chaos model-data paradox”. Our main motivation is that chaos is elusive in financial datasets because of loss of information that occurs when daily quotes are used. This could hinder the detection of chaos in those time series. Chaotic systems are sensitive to initial condi- tions, so temporal dependence is lost as the chaotic time series are sampled at too long-time intervals, appearing as independent even though they come from a (chaotic) dynamical system. In the case of fi- nancial time series, which quotes are continuously traded on markets, the daily sampling may be too long. In order to avoid this problem high-frequency data can be used to detect chaos in financial time series. We have found evidence of chaotic signals inside the 14 tick-by-tick time series considered about some top currency pairs from the Foreign Exchange Market (FOREX). Notice that we do not intend to generalize this finding to all financial series or even to all FOREX series. The main interest of our paper is to illustrate that by choosing a tick-by-tick frequency (instead of a daily one), and with the purpose of preserving the dynamic dependence on the time series, we could find chaos. At least in the 14 specific currency pairs analyzed and during the time intervals considered. Hence we propose take into account all the information available in the financial markets (full sample information on FX rates) instead of daily data. This kind of time series entails several difficulties due to the need to process a huge quan- tity of information and regarding the reconstruction of the attractor from tick-by-tick time series which are unevenly-spaced. In this sense we have had to implemented new algorithms in order to solve such drawbacks. As far as we know these tick-by-tick financial time series have never been tested for chaos so far
