Narrative and Multimodal Approaches to Corporate Discourse
This work is aimed at investigating narrative strategies adopted by
traditional long-lived Italian family firms belonging to the I Centenari
association (https://www.assocentenari.it/en/index.php) and the Unione
Imprese Centenarie Italiane (https://www.uicitalia.org) in order to promote
their own identity. In particular, This study will attempt to shed light on “storytelling” as a marketing strategy, which will be investigated here from a linguistic perspective.
More specifically, the concept of performativity will be explored with
reference to narratives employed by the companies to “narrate” and
promote themselves. On the other hand, narrative strategies in corporate
discourse often imply multimodal communication. Thus, multimodal
approaches will be taken into consideration. In particular, an analysis of
the interplay of all semiotic processes (Wignell et al. 2018; Jewitt,
Bezemer and O’Halloran 2016; O’Toole 2011; Machin 2011; Kress and
van Leeuwen 2006) employed by the associations in order to promote their
corporate identity will be provided. In short, corporate communication will
also be investigated through the lens of a “social semiotics” approach with
the final goal being to achieve a more comprehensive view of the
promotional uniqueness belonging to these companies

Cutaneous non-volar melanoma dermoscopy and histopathology correlation: a systematic review protocol
Introduction Dermoscopy has a proved validity in the diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma, which is one of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer. Although some studies have demonstrated a relationship between specific dermoscopic and pathologic melanoma features, there is no solid evidence allowing reliable conclusions. This study will evaluate the evidence regarding this association. Methods and analysis Observational studies eligible for our systematic review will enrol adults with histological cutaneous non-volar melanoma diagnosis and with dermoscopy image analysis. We will search the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, MEDLINE and Cochrane Library. We will not impose any language or date restrictions. Outcomes of interest include the association of at least one of the melanoma dermoscopy features (irregular pigmentation, blue-white veil, atypical network, multicomponent pattern, atypical dots and/or globules, regression, peripheral tan structureless area, negative network, shiny white structures, atypical vessels and streaks/pseudopods), with melanoma Breslow index or other histopathology characteristics (melanoma subtype, mitotic index and presence of ulceration). Two reviewers will independently screen and search results, extract data from eligible studies and assess risk of bias. The evidence derived by this study will elucidate the possible link between melanoma dermoscopy and histopathology. If we could predict melanoma thickness based on dermoscopy, we would be able to anticipate melanoma treatment with impact on survival. Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval is not required because this is a literature-based study. It will be published in scientific Pubmed indexed open access journals to ensure its accessibility. Exploring the Classic and Novel Pathogenetic Insights of Plastic Exposure in the Genesis and Progression of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD)
The term “plastics” is an umbrella term generally referring to any material containing a high level of polymer content as an essential ingredient. Micro(nano)plastics (MNPs) are derived from the degradation of plastics, representing exogenous substances whose exposure can potentially interfere with different physiological processes. In this scenario, even considering the relative paramount detoxification role, the liver emerges as a key active organ in the relationship between plastic exposure and human disease. In industrialized countries, where plastics constitute largely diffused components of objects routinely adopted in daily/social life, including food packaging, Metabolic dysfunction-associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) represents the predominant hepatopathy and is progressively becoming the leading cause of cirrhosis and liver cancer, with an incompletely elucidated multifactorial pathogenesis. Notably, oral exposure to MNPs has been revealed to impact the gut–liver axis by influencing gut microbiota composition, gastrointestinal absorption, and, ultimately, determining hepatic accumulation. At the hepatic level, MNPs can contribute to the onset and worsening of steatosis by inducing metabolic dysfunction and inflammation. Plastics can also serve as vectors for different potentially toxic additives, with specific MNPs constituting a persistent source of release of bisphenol A (BPA), a well-recognized exogenous etiological factor contributing to MASLD genesis and worsening. Recently, exposure to MNPs and additives has demonstrated significant impacts on the immune system, oxidative stress, and metabolism. In particular, polystyrene-derived MNPs impair the mechanisms regulating hepatic lipid metabolism, simultaneously acting as antigens abnormally triggering the innate immune response. At the same time, environmental BPA exposure has been revealed to trigger trained immunity-related pathways, configuring novel pathogenetic drivers potentially promoting the progression of MASLD. The present review, after rapidly overviewing the main sources and toxicological properties of MNPs and related additives, explores plastic-related exposure’s potential implications in the genesis and progression of hepatic steatosis, highlighting the urgent need for further clarification of relative pathogenetic mechanisms

When the First World War broke out, no politician in the Italian government
was thinking of the dissolution of Austria-Hungary; indeed, authoritative per-
sonalities, even if a minority, such as Sidney Sonnino, the future Foreign Min-
ister who led Italy to intervene, were in favor of entering the war alongside it.
Even after the declaration of war, the Italian government reiterated, until the
defeat at Caporetto, that it had no intention of dissolving Austria-Hungary or
changing its internal order. After that rout, which could have led to the definitive
Italian collapse, Prime Minister Vittorio Emanuele Orlando decided, at least on
a propaganda level, to focus on its dissolution; he wanted to convince the Slavic
and Romanian soldiers to desert; he authorized the formation of a Czechoslova-
kian legion to be placed alongside the Italian units. However, the Italians, with
regard to Austria-Hungary, contemplated three possible policies: Sonnino’s, for
a total victory, but against the dissolution of Austria-Hungary; that of Nitti, in

Promoting inclusion and cognitive development through a basketball teaching laboratory
This experimental study investigated the benefits of a basketball-based educational workshop to improve selective attention and the ability to inhibit automatic responses in 70 children from a first-year secondary school. The intervention had a significantimpact on social inclusion and behavioural self-regulation, particularly for students with difficulties in these areas. By integrating physical and cognitive activities, the lab promoted cooperation and strengthened peer relationships, making the school amore inclusive environment. Changes in cognitive abilities were assessed using the Stroop test, The Index for Inclusion measured pre-and post-intervention levels of social inclusion. Statistical analyses using SPSS (version 27) showed significant changesin participants' performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of structured physical activity in improving executive function and cognitive development. The results highlight the importance of practical and playful educational strategies, such as sports workshops, to promote cognitive growth and create a more welcoming and cooperative school environment. This study adds to the literature demonstrating the value of interventions that combine physical and social activities to improve both learning and inclusion
The role of miRNAs in retinal physiology and in Inherited Retinal Disorders
: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Several studies have highlighted their role as key regulators of different physiological processes that underly retinal homeostasis. Recent evidence suggests that they play a role not only at the intracellular level but also extracellularly, participating in cell-cell crosstalk by being transported via extracellular vesicles (EVs). Moreover, changes in miRNA expression levels have been associated with different forms of retinal diseases, such as Inherited Retinal Diseases (IRDs). IRDs are a group of genetic disorders characterized by photoreceptor cell death and retinal degeneration. Notably, miRNAs can simultaneously regulate multiple molecular pathways associated with disease initiation and progression. Finally, modulation of miRNAs through upregulation or downregulation has shown beneficial effects in different IRD mouse models. Here, we provide a comprehensive overview of retinal miRNA expression profiles in both healthy and IRD conditions and explore their potential as therapeutic targets for clinical applications
Network control theory applied to the human connectome: A study on variability and discriminability of fMRI connectomic features under normal and defective sensorineural conditions
: Network control theory (NCT) models human connectomes as high-dimensional input-state-output stable systems where the efficiency of neural connections can be addressed by energy cost (of state transitions) and controllability (from/to reachable states). Different options are available to extract NCT features: initial/final states, control time horizon, structural (vs. functional), and static (vs. dynamic) connectivity measure. Leveraging the minimum control paradigm, assuming the Schur stability for discrete systems, we investigate intra- and inter-individual variability of NCT features, across different settings and datasets, and assess their potential as useful connectome metrics in clinical studies. NCT was applied to structural and functional MRI (fMRI), in a cohort of 82 cognitively unimpaired elderly subjects with normal or (age-related) sensorineural condition (hearing loss), and in young adults from the Human Connectome Project database. Results demonstrated low intra-individual and moderate within-group inter-individual variability of NCT features. The energy cost was related to the time horizon of the system but did not discriminate groups. Controllability analyses revealed significant group effects and acceptable discrimination between normal and disease-affected connectomes, particularly for the default-mode network. We provide a systematic evaluation of different settings for fMRI-derived NCT features that may help guiding clinical applications toward capturing neurologically meaningful changes in the human connectome
