Associations between childhood trauma and personality disorder traits: A cross-sectional study in the general population
Background: Childhood trauma (CT)[sbnd]including emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect[sbnd]is a well-documented risk factor for the development of personality pathology. While prior research has established a general association between CT and personality disorders (PDs), the differential impact of specific trauma subtypes on individual PD traits remains insufficiently explored, particularly in non-clinical populations. Objective: This study examined whether higher CT levels are associated with increased PD trait severity and whether distinct CT subtypes predict specific PD traits, independent of psychological distress and demographic factors. Method: A community sample of 2,077 Italian adults (aged 18–65) completed the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), the Assessment of DSM-IV Personality Disorders (ADP-IV), and the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R). Correlational and multiple regression analyses controlled for age, gender, education, marital status, and psychological distress. Results: Higher levels of CT were significantly associated with increased overall severity of personality pathology, independent of psychological distress. Emotional abuse emerged as the strongest and most consistent predictor, particularly in relation to borderline, paranoid, avoidant, and depressive traits. Physical neglect showed unique associations with antisocial and dependent traits. Other trauma subtypes demonstrated weaker or less consistent relationships with PD traits. Conclusions: Emotional abuse appears to have a pervasive impact on maladaptive personality traits. These findings support trauma-informed assessment approaches and highlight the importance of incorporating developmental history into the conceptualization and treatment of personality pathology. Longitudinal research is needed to clarify causal mechanisms and inform prevention strategies

Oropharyngeal adverse drug reactions: knowledge, attitudes, and practice (KAP) among Italian healthcare professionals and students
Introduction: Pharmacovigilance plays a vital role in ensuring drug safety and protecting public health. Oropharyngeal adverse drug reactions (O-ADRs) are found to be under-reported, especially by oral health professionals, limiting the identification and management of these events.
Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of healthcare professionals and students regarding O-ADRs and to assess their specific expertise by a self-e-learning test.
Materials and methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a KAP questionnaire between April 2023 and April 2024, involving 943 participants, including physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, and students. Additionally, three sets of self-e-learning tests on O-ADRs were administered. The study employed descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and logistic regression to analyze factors affecting KAP and reporting behaviors.
Results: Significant gaps in KAP were identified. Only 26.5% of participants demonstrated frequent best practices for reporting O-ADRs, with dentists and dental hygienists showing lower reporting rates (13.8% and 9.3%, respectively) compared to physicians (18.8%). The results of logistic regression analyses showed that practical knowledge was significantly associated with work experience (OR = 2.15, p = 0.026). Students exhibited the lowest levels of practical knowledge and reporting proficiency, with only 17.6% demonstrating competence. The self-e-learning test highlighted knowledge deficits: only 22.9% of participants correctly identified O-ADR associated with antiseptic mouth rinses, additional 30.2% recognized those linked to antimicrobial drugs.
Conclusions: This study highlights the need for targeted educational interventions to address gaps in O-ADR knowledge and practice. Tailored training, user-friendly digital tools, and a strong pharmacovigilance culture are crucial for improving reporting rates and ensuring patient safety

Costruzioni di genere: Aracoeli di Elsa Morante
This paper examines Elsa Morante's final novel, Aracoeli (1982), focusing on the representation of gender within its narrative structure and, more specifically, on the ways in which the homodiegetic narrator and protagonist, Manuele, portrays the femininity of his mother, Aracoeli. Building on this, the analysis explores the familiar theme, particularly the network of relationships between Manuele, Aracoeli, and his father, Eugenio Oddone Amedeo. This discussion is framed through two critical perspectives: Raewyn Connell's concept of hegemonic masculinities and Laura Mulvey's notion of the male gaze.
