    Get PDF
This study aims to provide valuable insights into the information logistics process and to ensure the effectiveness of its systems in the business environment by discussing the banking sector. In this regard, this study investigates the information logistics system of a bank’s IT service center. For this purpose, the instruments for transfer of the bank Z information logistics system were empirically tested in order to highlight the assessment factors; the various factors related to the bank Z information logistics management methodologies and the methods were examined. The key findings and contributions were achieved, i.e., we developed a systematic model for assessing information logistics systems in a bank. The model explains the adaptation of various methodologies and techniques of information logistics systems in the banking sector and justifies the platform of interaction of information logistics processes. The first part of the article introduces the concept of information logistics systems and unpacks its development and management methodologies and processes. The second part introduces the research methodology for assessing information logistics systems. The results highlight the system of management processes applied to the information logistics and discuss the areas and tools for improving this system. The main outcome of this research is presented in the third part, where the systematic model for assessing information logistics systems is developed. This model distinguishes the stages of information logistics cycles and the levels of the information logistics environments. It indicates the information logistics methodologies and techniques linking to the six types of management processes in the IT service center of a bank. The developed model helps to make the assessment of the information cycle more efficient and demonstrates a customizable result which can be adapted by other companies within their IT service centers

Technology and Law: A Shift in Health Paradigm

    No full text
In contemporary healthcare, the right to access scientific advancement and its benefits has become part of the human right to health. Scientific progress and the development of technologies serve the development of human personality and promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, but in the area of healthcare this progress entails both benefits and risks. Hence, technological progress – which naturally runs ahead of law – brings new challenges, which imply the need for research to define opportunities for the harmonious interaction of these fields in the context of the challenges faced when regulating the interaction between new technologies and healthcare. This article aims to demonstrate that the challenges faced by legal regulation pertaining to the integration of new technologies into the area of healthcare can be addressed through the concept of health as all-encompassing human wellness. The essential characteristics of the health and well-being paradigm are the interface between health and the dynamic development of society, and the importance of collaboration and personal involvement in achieving optimal health. This paradigm is a criterion for the innovative legal regulation of new technologies into the area of healthcare

Pavyzdžiui, Global Student Survey „Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Life of Higher Education Students” tyrimas nagrinėja pandemijos poveikį aukštųjų mokyklų studentams pagal pagrindinius 7 aspektus: socialinės demografijos ir akademinės savybės / charakteristikos, akademinis gyvenimas, emocinis bei socialinis gyvenimas, gebėjimai ir galimybės mokantis iš namų, bendrosios aplinkybės ir bendri pastebėjimai.

Should the European Court of Justice Develop a Political Question Doctrine?

    Get PDF
This paper comparatively investigates the role of the so-called political question doctrine in contemporary adjudication. Equally hailed and criticized, the doctrine is an indirect discussion on the perennial question of the border between law and politics. Thus, this contribution firstly seeks to illustrate the idiosyncratic context in which the political question doctrine operates and to ascertain the instability of its meaning, as well as its evolving content over time. Second, this paper examines the scholarly debates that surround the existence of a political question doctrine in the practice of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), as well as the (in) desirability of an express articulation of the doctrine by the ECJ. This study is therefore imagined as an implicit comparison: the theoretical insights drawn from several common law jurisdictions inform the approach to EU law, while, in turn, the EU example is employed as a background against which to consider and revisit some of the doctrine’s limits and possibly even perils. Without attempting to provide a taxonomy of cases in which “political question” types of arguments may arise before the ECJ, this paper identifies – mostly through doctrinal study –examples of alternative strategies or concepts so far employed by the Court in order to deal with issues generally defined as “political”. Finally, this contribution weighs some of the advantages and disadvantages that the adoption of the doctrine would bring in practice, both in light of the Court’s position within the institutional system, and of the specific features of the EU’s legal construction as a whole

The 2020 amendments to the Russian Constitution and the labyrinths of constitutional jurisprudence

    No full text
This article examines the 2020 amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation (1993), the process of their adoption, and their impact on the development of constitutionalism in Russia. The constitutional amendments in question were initiated by the President of Russia at the beginning of 2020, were adopted with urgency by the Russian Parliament, were subsequently approved by the “all-Russian vote”, and finally entered into force on 4 July 2020. They not only changed the content of the Russian Constitution, but also altered constitutional values, and have led to a crisis in the identity of the Russian Constitution. These constitutional amendments serve the interests of the authoritarian state and demonstrate the fate of the constitution, where the role of supreme law has been lost. While considering the erroneous path of adopting the 2020 constitutional amendments, this article is devoted to an analysis of the opinion set out in the respective conclusion of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, which assessed the process under discussion and the content of the proposed constitutional amendments by interpreting the provisions of the Russian Constitution. This opinion created preconditions for the entry into force of the amendments to the Constitution. Thus, the main attention in the article is focused, in particular, on the assessment given by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation rather than the content of the constitutional amendments

A Qualitative Systematic Review of Living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

    Get PDF
CC BY-NC-NDDuchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of the most severe forms of inherited muscular dystrophies, leading to limited upper limb use in its later stages. Due to medical and technological advances, patients with DMD are living longer and are reaching adolescence and adulthood. The benefits of bringing together qualitative views and studies in a systematic way include gaining a greater breadth of perspectives and a deeper understanding of health, psychological issues, and concerns from the point of view of patients, and helping the medical community and policymakers to create a better support system. This review aimed to describe the experiences of patients living with DMD in order to identify common themes across all relevant studies. The research question is: What is the lived-world experience of men with DMD? This review adopted a systematic search methodology in accordance with PRISMA guidance, and followed the SPIDER search strategy and the analytic procedure for thematic synthesis. In total, 11 studies were included in the review concerning 132 young people with DMD. In these studies, 5 main topics were identified: experiences of body powerlessness (progressive loss of body control, limited social freedom, lack of privacy); the search for identity (the meaning of becoming an adult man, feelings at the margins, maintaining normality, balancing dependence-independence); challenges in social relations (vulnerability to prejudice, risk of isolation, (in)dispensable parental support, emotional connectedness with carers, the support of others “in the same boat” with DMD); coping processes and resilience (underestimated strength, taking autonomy, toward acceptance, active self-management); and end-of-life experiences (living in the present, experiences of dying, (mis)communication with others about death and dying)
