CC BY-NC-ND 4.0The growing recognition of patients’ roles as key evaluators of service quality in
the healthcare quality improvement process – as well as periodic media coverage of adverse birth
experiences, such as postpartum depression, that place burdens on mothers and society in general
– encourages a broader examination of the aspects that form the quality of midwifery services. The
relevance of this topic is also determined by the emphasis on the role of the obstetric service sector in
the Lithuanian Health Programme, which provides long-term directions for improving the quality of
services provided to mothers. Quality assurance of maternity services is also one of the main scopes of
the World Health Organization’s activity. The aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes of patients
towards the quality of obstetric services provided. A quantitative survey was conducted at a tertiary
level obstetric facility unit involving 309 women who had given birth. Respondents participated in
the study by submitting a service quality evaluation questionnaire, and the total internal reliability of
the questionnaire was 0.966. The research revealed that, although the quality of maternity services in
the institution where the research was conducted was assessed as high, the need for women to actively
participate in their health care process is not ensured sufficiently and communicative aspects of the
provision of services can be improved. Women who undergo vaginal delivery and have episiotomies,
as well as women who are not guaranteed early contact with the newborn immediately after giving
birth, require special attention on behalf of the medical staff. This is first ensured by realizing the need
for effective communication between the patient and healthcare specialists in order to improve the
quality of the services provided. Assessing rapid changes in the healthcare service quality field and
the constant emergence of new factors defining quality of services, it becomes obvious that standard
quality assessment questionnaires for obstetric situations must be constantly reviewed, and quality
assessment must be carried out periodically using questionnaires focused specifically on obstetrical
practice
Efficiency Analysis on the Consumption of Software Piracy in OECD Countries
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0This paper focuses on one of the topics of copyright economics: the study of software
piracy and its determinants. The efficiency of OECD countries regarding the consumption of illegal
software is analyzed. In this vein, efficiency is associated with the minimal consumption of software
piracy according to the socioeconomic characteristics of a nation. Data Envelopment Analysis is
the methodology employed, which assigns an efficiency score to the countries in order to establish
a ranking of efficiency. Additionally, a relationship is established between the legal origin of the
copyright law of a country and its efficiency level. The results of the efficiency analysis show that
the efficient countries are Austria, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Slovakia; this leads to the
affirmation that the countries with lower levels of piracy are not always efficient. According to the
legal origin of copyright law, countries with a German origin are the most efficient. Consequently,
the efficiency score is not related to the level of software piracy but to the legal origin
A systematic review of outdoor adventure education programs in schools
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0Implementing outdoor adventure education (OAE) programs with school pupils brings
unique challenges and outcomes. However, no previous review on OAE programs has focused on
the classroom cohort. We systematically reviewed quantitative research of OAE programs in schools
regarding outcomes, program types, and methodology. Data were collected from 7 databases using
a syntax representing concepts of OAE and schools. Out of the 3,535 articles found, 8 were selected.
These results reveal methodological limitations such as no control group, vague program description,
and questionable time of measurements. The reviewed research measured 16 different outcomes
and revealed ambiguous results. OAE shows the potential to improve cohesion in student groups
and students’ self-efficacy; however, more rigorous research with classes that remain intact after the
program ends is needed. Overall, OAE programs may benefit various aspects of a pupil’s life, but it
is crucial to have a clear direction of where the program leads
The criminalization of voluntary incestuous intercourse between members of the nuclear family in the Balkans
CC BY 4.0The aim of this paper is to assess whether the legal definitions used by some European legislators to criminalize voluntary
incestuous intercourse are in line with the results of the most recent studies. As we are about to show, incest has for centuries been a taboo
topic and the subject of cautionary tales. Given that available studies clearly prove that incestuous relationships more often than not have
negative effects on both the participants and their offspring, this paper does not call into question the necessity of having such norms, but
rather the manner in which such a legislative policy is to be carried out. By comparing the criminal law norms used by Albania, Austria,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia, this paper provides a comparative insight regarding
the rationale behind the criminalization of such relationships in the Balkans and the surrounding area
Ethical aspect of the legal regulation of police officers' activities
The article theoretically analyses the importance of professional ethics in the legal regulation of
the activities of a police officer. The topic of the approach to the legal regulation of the activities of an
officer is insufficiently discussed, therefore the novelty of the topic is based on the need to discuss in
more detail the significance of ethics and morality in the legal regulation of the activities of a police
officer. The problem of the research is specified in the following questions: How significant is the ethical
behaviour and morality in the legal regulation of the activities of police officers? Are the principles and
provisions of professional ethics defined in the legal framework for police officers? The object of the
research: the ethical aspect of the legal regulation of the activities of police officers. The aim of the
research: to reveal the ethical aspect of the legal regulation of the activities of police officers. Objectives
of the investigation: 1) to reveal the importance of professional ethics in the legal regulation of the
activities of a police officer; 2) to evaluate the expression of the principles of professional ethics in the
legal regulation of the activities of police officers. Research methods: method of analysis of scientific
literature, method of analysis of legal acts, generalization, qualitative method of content analysis of
documents
Privalomoji vakcinacija kaip pandemijų valdymo priemonė ir jos teisėtumo klausimai tarptautinės teisės požiūriu
The impact of forensic examinations on the speed of criminal proceedings: problems and possible solutions
The obligation of the State to organize and conduct criminal proceedings
effectively and efficiently are inseparable from the requirement to complete
the proceedings within a reasonable time. Various studies and case law confirm
that too long deadlines for conducting forensic examinations prolong the
pre-trial investigation and court proceedings. The length of forensic examination
in criminal proceedings is determined by various reasons – lack of human
resources, work load, improper organization or legal regulation.
In the first part of this article, based on the case law, the authors present an
assessment of the speed of criminal proceedings and the obstacles that limit
them – lengthy forensic examinations. In the second part of the article, the
authors analyze certain provisions of the legal regulation regarding the organization
and conduct of forensic examination (examination of objects) in order
to submit proposals for their possible acceleration
Lyčių lygybės užtikrinimas viešajame administravime europinių vertybių plėtojimo kontekste
CC BY-NC-ND 4.0The issue of observing gender parity in the system of central and local administration is currently interpreted as the implementation of the principles of innovation and reform
of the existing management system. This study presents the basic provisions, trends, and prerequisites for the implementation of the principles of gender parity in the system of public administration. The key objective of this article is to evaluate the main statistical data that highlight the
main trends in the ratio of gender indicators in public administration in Ukraine, and ultimately
to calculate the coefficient of gender asymmetry based on these main indicators
Įvykio eigos rekonstrukcija remiantis šaunamojo ginklo naudojimo pėdsakais
The method of reconstruction, recreating the course of an event, is a method
widely used in various forensic departments, both during tests performed
as part of an expert opinion by an expert and during an experiment as a procedural
activity.
In encyclopedic terminology, „reconstruction” is „... rebuilding, reconstruction,
... or ... recreating of something on the basis of preserved fragments,
remains”. This understanding of reconstruction also applies to the forensic approach.
In this sense, the reconstruction of the course of the event on the basis
of traces of the use of firearms will be a form of comprehensive examination,
taking into account aspects of knowledge about weapons, forensic ballistics and
knowledge in the field of forensics and forensic medicine. The result of such
reconstruction shows the most probable course of the event and allows you
to eliminate some of the previously created versions of the event. This method
has been successfully used for several years as part of forensic expertise. The
right moment for ordering of such type of examination by the trial body is the
advanced course of the proceedings, when the trial body has already collected
a considerable amount of information and conducted certain evidence. There
is so little information in the early stages of the procedure that it is difficult to
perform such a reconstruction. Such studies concern the entirety of the collected
material and the more of it, the more reliable are the results of the reconstruction.
Practice shows that the traces of the use of a firearm offer great
reconstruction possibilities
Language motivational theory and its implication to the classroom
The researchers believe that language motivation is a crucial factor in L2 learning. Motivation is a
multi-facet concept that different researchers have studied at different times. The presented study overviews
students’ English learning orientation from the perspective of various important L2 motivation concepts (from
Gardner’s integrativeness/instrumentality to Dörnyei’s L2 motivational self system) and the notion of English as
an international language. When looking through the history of language motivation research, language
motivational research stages, namely a social-psychological research stage, a cognitive-situated stage, and the
current stage, introduced by Al-Hoorie, are applied as the primary classification. The first stage covers the period
between the 1970s and the 1980s with Gardner’s and Lambert’s theory exploring the elements of students’
motivation and their achievements, while the second stage overviews the late 1980s – the early 2010s with
Curran’s communicative language learning, Lozanov’s suggestopedia, Asher’s total physical response,
Gattegno’s silent way, and Krashen’s natural way introduced worldwide. The grammar approach was replaced
by communicative language, where the teacher was viewed as a facilitator, activities manager, advisor, or co-
communicator rather than a sole authority in the classroom. During this period, Dörnyei developed his conception
of the L2 Motivational Self System, as well as the ideal L2 self was introduced. Such conceptual domains as L2
speaker, L2 language and L2 self were defined. The current stage, which started in the 2010s, does not highlight
the leading topic in the issue under question. However, the relationship between teacher and student motivation
remains relevant as well as the challenging reality of a classroom with multilingual and multicultural language
learners is considered
