Theoretical study on the stability of insulin within poly-isobutyl cyanoacrylate (PIBCA) nanocapsule
To study the physical stability of insulin in drug delivery particles, we developed a coarse-grained (CG) model for insulin based on dissipative particle dynamics (DPD). Three insulin modelling schemes were considered: each amino acid as a bead (IM1), each amino acid being separated into one to three beads (IM2), and adding secondary structural information of insulin to IM2 (IM3). The best possible bead-bead interaction parameters were obtained from Hildebrand and Hansen solubility parameters by performing the constant-temperature DPD simulation with insulin models in 20% acetic acid solution. IM3 showed good results in terms of RMSF, RMSD and A1B30 distance compared to those of all-atom models from the literature. Then, the IM3 model was considered in an oil-filled poly (isobutyl cyanoacrylate) (PIBCA) nanocapsule. Two crucial factors were found that mainly influence the stability of insulin in oil: the PIBCA shell thickness and the amount of ethanol in the oil droplet. An appropriate PIBCA shell thickness is necessary to block the interaction between insulin and water outside, and ethanol could stabilise insulin with its good affinity for both insulin and oil
The role of a business model in market growth: The difference between the converted industry and the emerging industry
This paper investigates the role of business models: What differences exist between the roles of an already-existing market-based converted industry and a newly appearing market-based emerging industry? This study analyzed the status of the technologies and business models in the autonomous car and intelligent robot industries, as well as their recent two-year growth, using technology and business model patents. In addition, it investigated the current situation of the technologies, business models, and markets of the two industries based on literature reviews. This study then simulated the market growth of the autonomous car and intelligent robot industries using system dynamics. The simulations were established and verified by analyzing the references and citations of the technology patents and business model patents of the two industries. This study reached three conclusions. First, in the case of a converted industry such as autonomous cars, a strategy focused on a business model is useful in the early stage, whereas one focused on technology is efficient in the mature stage. Second, in the case of an emerging industry such as intelligent robots, a strategy focused on technology is somewhat more useful in the early stage than one focused on a business model; conversely, a strategy focused on technology is slightly more useful in the mature stage. Third, a business model is also important to supplement technology such as intelligent robots at a mature stage in Canada or autonomous cars at a mature stage in Japan. Highlights In the early stage of converted industry such as autonomous car, business model is more important than technology. In the early stage of emerging industry such as intelligent robot technology is more important than business model. In mature stage, technology and business model are simultaneously important in both industries
Topic Analysis of Scholarly Communication Research
This study aims to identify specific topics, trends, and structural characteristics of scholarly communication research, based on 1,435 articles published from 1970 to 2018 in the Scopus database through Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic modeling, serial analysis, and network analysis. Topic modeling, time series analysis, and network analysis were used to analyze specific topics, trends, and structures, respectively. The results were summarized into three sets as follows. First, the specific topics of scholarly communication research were nineteen in number, including research resource management and research data, and their research proportion is even. Second, as a result of the time series analysis, there are three upward trending topics: Topic 6: Open Access Publishing, Topic 7: Green Open Access, Topic 19: Informal Communication, and two downward trending topics: Topic 11: Researcher Network and Topic 12: Electronic Journal. Third, the network analysis results indicated that high mean profile association topics were related to the institution, and topics with high triangle betweenness centrality, such as Topic 14: Research Resource Management, shared the citation context. Also, through cluster analysis using parallel nearest neighbor clustering, six clusters connected with different concepts were identified
Identifying Stakeholder Perspectives on Data Industry Regulation in South Korea
Data innovation is at the core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. While the catastrophic COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the societal shift toward a data-driven society, the direction of overall data regulation remains unclear and data policy experts have yet to reach a consensus. This study identifies and examines the ideal regulator models of data-policy experts and suggests an appropriate method for developing policy in the data economy. To identify different typologies of data regulation, this study used Q methodology with 42 data policy experts, including public officers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professors, and additional focus group interviews (FGIs) with six data policy experts. Using a Q survey, this study discerns four types of data policy regulators: proactive activists, neutral conservatives, pro-protection idealists, and pro-protection pragmatists. Based on the results of the analysis and FGIs, this study suggests three practical policy implications for framing a nation's data policy. It also discusses possibilities for exploring diverse methods of data industry regulation, underscoring the value of identifying regulatory issues in the data industry from a social science perspective

A Shift in Information Dissemination Methods in a Cultural Ritual amid the COVID-19 Pandemic
This study aims to unravel the shift in the customary method of disseminating information about the ritual of Perang Topat (literally translated as "rice-cake war") as carried out by the custom community of Kemaliq Lingsar in the West Lombok Regency of Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Grounded in the ethnography of communication research methodology, this study examines the process of the cultural ritual during the 2020 period of the pandemic and compares it to the ones held in 2018 and 2019 (before the current pandemic). Drawing on findings from observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, it was revealed that the traditional or custom-oriented community of Kemaliq Lingsar abandoned all three prominently used methods of disseminating the information of the Perang Topat ritual that had been used prior to the pandemic, and that they were replaced by a strategy with solely face-to-face (FTF) interpersonal communication carried out by visiting the homes of the target participants of the cultural event. This method was relevant to the current viral crisis because it enabled the committee to minimize the number of spectators which might potentially violate COVID-19 health protocols. This finding also reinforces the hypothetical statement that interpersonal communication via FTF is effective in disseminating information in a limited manner and empowering the emotional bond between the individuals who share relationships and similar interests. The findings of the present study can be a reference for any events where physical distancing must be strictly imposed and require a limit to the number of participants during the pandemic
