application/pdfPurpose of Study: The purpose of this study was to qualitatively and inductively investigate the assistance that empowers women through interaction with midwives. Exploring the process through which independent midwives interact with women and empower them, focusing on what are the essential activities of caring and helping women. Research Object: Eleven midwives based in three maternity centres and four women giving birth in these centres. All women were primipara and part of a nuclear family. Pregnancies had progressed normally. Exploring the process through which independent midwives interact with women and empower them, focusing on what are the essential activities of caring and helping women. Method: 1) Study design: To qualitatively and inductively investigate the assistance that empowers women through interaction with midwives. Exploring the process through which independent midwives interact with women and empower them, focusing on what are the essential activities of caring and helping women. 2) Subjects: Eleven midwives based in three maternity centres and four women giving birth in these centres. All women were primipara and part of a nuclear family. Pregnancies had progressed normally. 3) Data collection method: Interviews and observation. 4) Analytical method: In accordance with a worksheet, concepts were generated, which were then made into a storyline. “Empowerment” is defined here as reclaiming one’s sense of self and acquiring the power to execute the role of a mother. Relationships between concepts were examined and categorized. Results: The qualitative, inductive study of the codes yielded 49 sub-categories and 7 categories. The 7 categories were (1) Emotional bonding and strong relationships of trust, (2) Fulfilling the function of counselling, (3) Equal relationships, (4) Abundant provision of information, (5) Acquiring childcare ability through joint tasks, (6) Self-efficacy through experiences of success, (7) Starting child-rearing with family cooperation. Consideration: By fulfilling counselling function based on a foundation of emotional bonds and strong relationships of trust, midwives help women recover from feelings of powerlessness. Care for empowering women involved abundant provision of information, acquiring childcare ability through joint tasks, and self-efficacy through experiences of success.departmental bulletin pape

application/pdfThe dissipation mechanism is studied in the unitary time evolution of femto-scale quantum finite-body systems. Based on the systematic time-dependent density functional theory with the Langevin model calcualtions (TDDFT + Langevin model), the neutron and proton number dependence of dissipation is calucalted. In conclusion a method to calculate the temperature dependence of nuclear Reynolds number is established.departmental bulletin pape

Renormalization-group singular perturbation analysis for the one-dimensional Schrödinger operator with periodic potentials

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe wavefunctions and band structures of the one-dimensional Schrödinger operators possessing periodic potentials, which are written as a sum of the exactly-solvable finite-zone potential and the small integrability-breaking perturbation, are investigated using the renormalization-group/envelope (RG/E) method in the singular perturbation theory. Following the RG/E method, we obtain the fundamental equation which generates the solution free from power-law divergence caused by the secular terms. Using it, we provide the perturbative expansions of the eigenfunctions and the eigenvalues both for the non-resonant points, where the new gap does not open, and for the resonant points, where the wavelength of the square of the wavefunction is commensurate with that of the potential and hence the new gap opens. Furthermore, we propose a “patched” solution, which preserves the same analytic properties as the perturbative expansions for all points up to second order and is free from unphysical divergence for any parameter including a resonant wavenumber. These results are illustrated by several elementary examples.departmental bulletin pape

Calcium sulfo-aluminate phosphors activated by Eu3+ ions -- Research works accomplished by using materials analysis facilities: XXX(2) --

application/pdfThe samples with the composition of (Ca1-xEux)8[Al12O24](SO4)2 were synthesized by a solid state reaction method with the aim of introducing Eu ions into calcium sulfo-aluminate Ca8[Al12O24](SO4)2. Under irradiation of ultraviolet light with 254 nm, the samples exhibited red to orange fluorescence. From the emission spectra, it was confirmed that Eu ions were under a trivalent state in the samples. Fluorescence intensity increased with x till x = 0.003, and decreased with increasing x.departmental bulletin pape

Characteristic of local elderly people’s in a community : An analysis on group remniscence therapy

    Get PDF
application/pdf[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the elderly people who participated in the “group recminiscence therapy”. [Method] The group reminiscence therapy was carried out for the elderly people of S area of A city from May to August 2018. The documents written by students who participated in the recollecting method as co-leaders was analyzed. The analytic theme was taken as “the meaning in which elderly people look back upon their life.” The concepts was generated by qualitative research according to the Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA). [Results] Altogether, 19 concepts were generated. The core concept was “perception about own existence realized through support of the surrounding people”. The three core categories constituting the core concept were generated as “review of own life,” “pride to self,” “composing mind to the future.” [Discussion] “Review of own life,” like the flow in a river, makes one aware of the path traversed in life and proud of one’s ability to handle events at the turning points in life with support from others, which in turn leads to “pride to self” “Things to accomplish in the future” relates to the approach to the end of life through cherishing the current way of living and building smooth relationships with others.departmental bulletin pape

Examination of walking function in elderly people using the stepping exercise at three types of rhythm

    Get PDF
application/pdfWalking ability is an important factor for independent living, and its evaluation method using limited space is required in clinical practice and research. Here, we examined the validity of the stepping exercise at using three types of rhythm (80, 110, and 140 bpm) as an assessment tool for measuring walking ability in older people. We measured lower-limb muscular power, maximal and preferred walking speed, and ground reaction force in older people performing a chair stand test, 6m walking test, and stepping exercise test, respectively. Ground reaction force at stepping with the rhythm of 110 bpm correlated significantly with maximal walking speed. In conclusion, the ground reaction force obtained from the stepping exercise test using the rhythm of 110 bpm could be useful to assess the walking ability in older people.departmental bulletin pape

Calcium tin aluminate phosphors activated by Ti-ions -- Research works accomplished by using materials analysis facilities: XXX(1) --

application/pdfIn this study, we focused on the oxides with the composition of Ca2Sn2-xTixAl2O9, in which Ti4+ ions are introduced into the host material Ca2Sn2Al2O9, to develop rare earth-free fluorescent materials. The samples were successfully synthesized by a complex polymerization method. The samples showed blue emission at 476 nm under excitation at 243 nm. The emission intensity reached a maximum at x = 0.02. The excitation and emission spectra were recorded from room temperature to 573 K. As the temperature rises, the emission wavelength becomes shorter, while the excitation wavelength becomes longer, indicating that our fluorescent materials are sensitive to temperature.departmental bulletin pape

An Estimate the Standard Deviation of Gaussian Noise Based on the Additiveness of Gaussian Distribution

    Get PDF
application/pdfAs a method of estimating Gaussian noise superimposed on the image, there is an estimation method based on MAD. The method based on MAD has good estimation accuracy for images with many flat area. However, the estimation accuracy is not good for images with many edges and detail signals. We proposed the method to extend the method based on MAD to correct the Gaussian noise estimate according to the type of image. As a result, it was possible to improve the estimation accuracy even in an image including many edges and detail signals. However, improvement in estimation accuracy is effective only when the Gaussian noise is large, and a very effective result cannot be obtained when the Gaussian noise is small. In this paper, we propose the method for improving estimation accuracy for images with small Gaussian noise and many edges and detail signals. In the proposed method, an estimation method that focuses on the additiveness of the Gaussian distribution is applied only to images that contain many edges and detail signals. The proposed method improved the noise estimation accuracy by about 27% compared to the conventional method.departmental bulletin pape

Study on the reaction behavior of L-ascorbic acid and phenylboronic acid

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis study shows reaction behavior of L-ascorbic acid (AA) and phenylboronic acid (PB) in DMSO-d6 (50 mM at 30oC) to form the corresponding boronic acid ester. For the purpose of restriction of the reactive moieties, two AA derivatives, in which diols at 2,3- or 5,6-position are protected, were selected and evaluated as the reference for AA. Compared among their 1H NMR spectra of the boronic acid ester from the protected AA with PB, unmodified AA was reacted with PB mainly at not the 2,3-position but the 5,6-position of AA. When equimolar AA and PB were mixed in DMSO-d6, it was found that approximately a half of AA was converted to the boronic acid ester.departmental bulletin pape
