The Computer Simulation of the Resonant Motion between Three Lorenz Chaos Water Wheels by the Linear Coupling using Parallel Computation
application/pdfWe had been interested in the increase of the complexity for the non-linear coupled oscillating system as the unit number changes from two to three. For the dynamics of assembly of the coupled non-linear oscillating systems, the relationship among the units can not be simply discussed, because the principle of the linear superposition can not be applied. We examined the complexity produced by the linear coupling of three non-linear oscillators. The coupling schemes were examined for the linear and circular network, respectively. Moreover, we discussed the increase of complexity which was produced by changing the coupling number from 2 to 3. Here, the increase of complexity was defined as the fluctuation of the pattern formation. The non-linear oscillator used was the Lorenz chaos water wheel model for which the parameter for obtaining the chaos solution was known. We tried the confirmationof the increase of the complexity by using chaos system which is the typical example of the non-linear pattern. We examined the rotary motion of three water wheels combined by the linear coupling of the resistance proportional to the difference of angular velocity. Calculations were performed by the parallel computer processing which assigned the processing of one water wheel to one processor. For our calculation system, time profile of the resonance motion of each water wheel was directly observed. When each coupling strength kl was 3[s-1], three time profiles existed in 5 conditions. These were the condition resonant with three, three 2 cluster conditions, and the condition that was not resonant with three. The change of each condition was not periodic. In case of the linear network, the condition that only the time series of central water wheel was not resonant was hardly confirmed. On the other hand, there was not such tendency in the circular network. Through the whole, the orbits which mapped the time series of water wheel onto three dimensional topological space by the Takens theory were almost isomorphic. Personal Authentication by 4 figure PIN using Keystroke Timing Pattern
application/pdfIn this article, we propose a personal authentication method with Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) for Web based application. Information sharing on the World Wide Web (WWW), which is the most popular Internet service, is progressing rapidly today. Since WWW can cover the area crossed broadly, it is very effective as a means for information sharing. Unfortunately, with this global network access comes increased chances of malicious attack and intrusion. Traditional measures such as passwords and PINs are no longer adequate and we need to investigate more advanced safeguards against unauthorized access to Web based application. We tesed the system ability to measure FRR (False Rejection Rate) and FAR (False Acceptance Rate) on the map which is learning with 56 input-vectors. For result of this ability test, our system keeps FRR and FAR 25%. Thus it seems that our method is available for personal authentication.departmental bulletin pape

Using dialogues and the actors' movement Kyôgen has developed simple and efficient ways to indicate places. Boost-Type AC-DC Converter with Constant Switching Frequency for Reduction of Harmonic Components in Input Current
application/pdfA single-phase voltage-source type rectifier circuit generates many harmonic components in the input current. These generated harmonics mayc ause various disturbances in the utility's distribution. As the reduction method of these harmonics, a boost-type AC-DC converter with the hysteresis current control (HCC) is most frequently investigated. However, this control method has a major drawback that the switching frequency varies over a wide range. This brings forth a complicated ftlter design. In this paper, we propose the method for applying the PWM control with the constant switctting frequency to two types of boost-type AC-DC converter.This control method offers advantages like the fixed frequency of the generated harmonics and the simplified control signal generation. We obtain quantitatively the reduction effect of harmonic currents by the calculations, including the comparison between these two types of converter. Off-line Character Recognition Using Multiple 1-D Hidden Markov Model
application/pdfThe purpose of our research is to improve the recognition rate of off-line character recognition systems using the HMM (Hidden Markov Model). Some 1-dimensional (1-D) HMM recognition systems have been proposed to increase the recognition rate of the conventional recognition systems. However, the 1-D HMM recognition systems have not achieved a sufficient recognition rate. On the other hand, 2-D HMM character recognition systems have been proposed to increase the representational power. However, the complex structure of 2-D HMM could not produce enough representational power with the actual small number of learning samples. To overcome these problems, we proposed a method using the multiple 1-dimensional HMM approach. In our experiment, the recognition rate of our multiple 1-D HMM method performed 97.1%, which was about 3% better than the conventional 1-D HMM systems, and as good as the 2-D HMM (HMM-MRF) system.
