Good Encodings for DNA-based Computation with Decreasing the Number of Molecules
application/pdfEncoding methods for DNA-based computation with relatively small number of DNA molecules are proposed. They are composed of several steps of selecting molecules that are predicted not to produce unnecessacy combinations of bases. As compared with a traditional method using random sequences of DNA, the proposed methods were considered to require much less number of molecules in solving graph problems such as directed Hamiltonian path problems.departmental bulletin pape
Development of Small Nonlinear Spring Tensioning Device on Tendon-Driven Mechanism
application/pdfWhen a robot moves flexibly similar to humans do, the robot must be equipped adjustable joint stiffness. This adjustment is difficult for almost robotic mechanisms because they do not have enough back-drivability nor can adjust their elasticity. On the other hand, tendon-driven mechanism has some nonlinear spring tensioning devices (NST) at end of the tendons which are necessary to implement the elasticity adjustability. However the conventional coil spring type NSTs has complicated structure. For these reasons, we develop a new smaller and simpler NST using leaf spring instead of coil spring, which is called "lNST". In this paper, first, we show structures of conventional NST and lNST for comparison. Next, calculation of its property using algebraic solution and measurement results of this device are shown. Finally we conclude the results of measurements of lNST and future works.departmental bulletin pape
A Fundamental Study on Visibility of Background and Character Colors at the Web Browsing
application/pdfIn this paper, firstly, we described a paired comparison test of character and background colors. The color sets were selected from achromatic colors of the Web Safe Color, which is a de facto standard for the HTML color representation. Secondly, we showed a SOM (Self-Organizing Map) analysis to estimate different color sets for visibility of same users. Since au ser profiling is required beforehand for every user, we solved this problem with SOM. Finally, we proposed a Web browsing method with an automatic color correction (palette changing) for personal user's visibility. We applied the result of the test and analysis to our method, and we implemented a Palette Changing System for evaluating of usability as CGI (Common Gateway Interface) software on a HTfP server of the Internet. It was suggested that our method is useful for automatic color correction of Web browsing and is available for improving visibility and individual personal usability.departmental bulletin pape
Annealing Effect of Surface Structure of MgO Single Crystal Studied by LEED
application/pdfThe annealing effect of the surface structure of MgO single crystal has been examined by low energy electron diffraction. The surface of MgO single crystal mechanically polished with Iμmdiameter diamond paste does not recover its crystal structure by annealing at 900°C. By annealing at 1000°C, the surface of MgO has recovered partly its crystal structure. By annealing at 1200°C, the surface of MgO has recovered fully its crystal structuredepartmental bulletin pape
A Real Time System for the Proeess Control on MS-Windows XP
application/pdfIn this paper, we propose an example of the construction of a digital control system on the DOS-V PC and the general purpose OS. And we expect useful effect for the education of the control system by making and operation of thep roposed controller.I nserting the timer and analog to digital transform boards into PCI slots in the DOS-V PC, we can construct a real time environment. In a computer,w e realize the proposedc ontrolJer as an object oriented program using C++ language. The control objective isa k eeping heat system constructed by an incandescent lamp. The actuator of our presented system is at riac current control system drivenb y MDP(Motor Driven Potentiometer). In this circumstance, we are able to acknowledge the auto-manual transfer,b ump-less transfer, anti-reset windup, fail safe environment, and the easiness of the construction of control algorithms. The presented system is operated on the Pentium N(1.6GHz) CPU and MS-Windows XP OS.A lso thiss ystem is running stably on the IOmsec sampling period and IOOmsec control period. Now we are using this system for the purpose of the understanding of ac ontroller and the basic system for the study on the graduate course. And we can show that our proposed system has useful effects for the education of control system.departmental bulletin pape
Seyeral Examples of Classes for Promoting Creativity in the Education of Applied Chemistry
application/pdfIn some colleges of Engineering in Japan, there are growing interests in new type of classes which are called "classes for promoting creativity." This interest comes from the fact that many college students in Japan are losing their enthusiasms for studies and classes. The new classes are thought to enhance their willingness to study and eventually promote creativity among them. In this paper, examples of such classes have been shown. These classes have just started in the year 2002 in the department of Applied Chemistry. One of them was done in a large class where about 100 students registered and the other two of them were done in an experimental class where about 16 students were taking the experiment at the same time.departmental bulletin pape
Fabrication of Alumina MIS Gate with Cat-CVD and Its Characteristics Measurement
application/pdfWe have developed a catalytic chemical vapor deposition (Cat-CVD) method to deposit alumina thin films on a silicon crystal using N2 bubbled tri-methyl aluminum ((CH3)3Al,TMA) and molecule oxygen (O2) as source species and a tungsten wire as a catalyzer. The tungsten catalyzer decomposed TMA at about 600°C. The typical deposition rate was 18 nm/min for catalyzer temperature of 1000°C and substrate temperature of 800℃ and 6.5nm/min for substrate temperature of 400℃ MIS diodes were fabricated with the alumina gate on 32.5 nm thick amorphous film deposited at substrate temperature of 400°C. The capacitance measurement resulted in a relative dielectric constant of 7.4, fixed charge density of 1.74X 1012cm-2,a slight hysteresis voltage as 0.12V and very few interface trapping charges. The leakage current was 5.01 X1 0-7 A/cm2 at bias voltage of 1V.departmental bulletin pape
A Study of Spectrum Slope in Color Images
application/pdfIf the music can be automatically generated, in relation to the scenes imagined by the human's thoughts, those handicapped persons might survive by themselves from some inconvenient circumstances without having the help of other persons. In this sense, we have studied and tried to analyze the fearures of images in various kinds as a primary step. There are, such as, the two-dimensional FFT to obtain spectrum tendenceis, the multi regression analysis to represent the surface inclinations, and the principal analysis to find some statistical differences among the sample images. As a result, we have learned a kind of positive correlations between the images and the human's sensitivities although it has not always true.departmental bulletin pape
A Study of Hegel's "Science of Logik" 13
application/pdfThe living individuals sublate themselves through a relationship between them. This is a death of the living individuals and is appearance of the spritual Being. The notion divides itself into the subject and the object to realize itself. It is a "Urteil" and cognition. A cognition consisits of an analytic cognition and a synthetic cognition. An analytic cognition derives directly a Universal (a principle) from an object (an Individual). But the principle is only an abstract Identity abstructed a particularity. Thus an analytic cognition can not "begreifen" an object. On the other hand, a synthetic cognition starts from a Universal, and comes to an Individual (a Theorem) through a particularizing Divisen. A Theorem forms a specific Difference and an Universal. But there are three Universals. None of them is absolute. The both a synthetic cogniton and an analytic cognition are finite. Philosophy must elucidate a Universality (a Necessity) of an object.departmental bulletin pape
Silicon Subsurface Evaluation with Contact Potential Difference
application/pdfNon-contacting evaluation method using contact potential difference is developed for evaluating subsurface property of silicon wafers. Measured contact differences for n-and ptype silicon crystals were well corresponding to that calculated. Positively and negatively charged surfaces of silicon wafers caused positive and negative contact potentiai difference, respectively. Contact potential differences well reflected damage induced in 200nm depth due to H2 + ion implantation. Contact potential differences reflected microroughness and damage induced by chemomechanical polishing. Influence of Mo and Fe contaminant introduced into epilayer of epitaxial Si wafers was detected to change contact potential difference. Finally, we conclude that contact potential difference measurements enable to revel crystalline property in silicon subsurface.departmental bulletin pape
