Two dimensional affine toric varieties and Weierstrass semigroups

    Get PDF
application/pdfLet X be a 2-dimensional affine toric variety over an algebraically closed field k of characteritic 0. We consider a way to construct from X the Weierstrass semigroup H of a point on a complete non-singular curve over k such that the minimal embedding of its monomial curve Spec k[H] into the affine space is derived from that of X by substituting monomials. For any n≧2 we give examples of such X and H where H is generated by n elements.departmental bulletin pape

What Are Masks in Kyôgen? (1) The Evolution of Stage Masks of Japan

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe masks of Kyôgen, traditional Japanese comedic theatre, have treaded a unique course of development. While Kyôgen does employ masks in a variety of plays, they are not a critical aspect of the theatre form. The use of masks in Kyôgen is limited to certain types of plays and to certain character types. Furthermore, Kyôgen masks lack the kind of spirituality that is considered to be at the root of the creation of archetypal masks, or which is at the core of Noh--Kyôgen's sister theatre art. The purpose of the research notes is to seek reasons behind the unique development of Kyôgen masks, and to explore original power that has motivated and shaped Japan's singular comedic theatre. As the first stage of the research, we would like to turn our attention to how masks in Japanese performing arts at large emerged by reviewing general characteristics of masks in Japan, in the context of the formative period of Japan as a nation. We would like to look at how Japanese masks became 'Japanese' by exploring what kinds of needs the populace of the Japanese archipelago had had.departmental bulletin pape

On the Characteristics of PLL Cirtcuits viewed by ControI Theory

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn this paper, we propose the explanation of principle for PLL (Phase Locked Loop) circuits and a simulation method for the PLL circuits by using the control theoretic analysis. We have had two questions for PLL circuits in the educational view point. One is the question why the coincident value by feedback loop is the phase. The other is the question where the control mechanism is carried out. In order to solve the questions, we treat the PLL circuit as a feedback system with PID controller. And by the control theoretical view point we conclude that the controller has to be I (Integration) or PID (Proportional, Integral, Differential), and the explanation for the using the phase difference. Adding the discussion, we proposed a new simulation method which is different from the usual circuit simulator as Spice. By the simulations by the propose method, we recognize the results of the above discussion.departmental bulletin pape

    Numerology in Michael Drayton

    Get PDF
application/pdfMy aim in this paper is to consider the numerology in Michael Drayton's sonnets equence, Idea. In sixtie three sonnets(1619). Fowler(1970) points out his use of numerology in "To the New Yeere", The Shepeards Garland and The Barons Warres, and gives a brief reference to the numerological structure of Idea. However, neither Roche(1989), a comprehensive study of numerological structures in the sonnet sequences, nor Røstvig (1994), a detailed analysis of numerical composition in medieval, Renaissance, and baroque literature, does not even mention this question. The first section deals with the complex and intricate symbolism of the circular number 9—the basic structural number of this sequence consisting of 63 sonnets. The second section attempts to analyze the numerology of the symbolic circle of Idea, Drayton's sonnet lady, created by three sonnets (sonnets 32, 39 and 53). The third section discusses the meaning of the symbolic number 8 found in the sonnet total of Idea as a whole, including the prefatory sonnet "To the Reader of these Sonnets" (i.e.1+63=64). The final section treats his use of other symbolic numbers in sonnets 15, 33, 35, 39, 40, 50, 60.departmental bulletin pape

Defect electron states in magnetic semiconductors

    Get PDF
application/pdfWe have studied thet wo types of impurity electron states in magnetic semiconductors as EuO; the donor electron state introduced by Gd-doped and the trapped electron state on O-ion vacancy. The conduction electrons are strongly affected by magnetic order, i.e. the magnetic field and temperature, through the s -f exchange interaction. The effect of magnetic order on the bound electron will be different from that on the conduction states. In this study, we studied two specific cases, the paramagnetic state and the completely ferromagnetic case. We also discuss the mechanism of metal-insulator transition in Eu-rich EuO.departmental bulletin pape

Preparation and Characterization of Phosphonium Latexes by Two-Stage Soap-free Emulsion Polymerization-Researeh Works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System:XVIII(2)-

    Get PDF
application/pdfPhosphonium-containing particles were prepared by two-stage soap-free emulsion copolymerization of styrene with tributyl-[4-vinylbenzy]phosphonium chloride (VBPC). The effect of the injection stage conversion on the particle size and the phosphonium groups introduced onto the particles was investigated. Paiticle size analysis by transmission electron microscopy showed that the final size of shot latexes was about 180 nm when VBPC was added at a conversion of above 75%. The amounts of phosphonium groups introduced onto the particles were almost constant regardless of the shot conversion.departmental bulletin pape

A System for Sharing Distributed XML Data Using Adjustable Schema

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn this paper, we describe a system for sharing distributed XML data among organizations using adjustable schema. In our system, each organization can adjust common DTD (Document Type Definition) within the bound of rule to create its own DTD, which is called adjusted DTD. And then it can describe information with tags according to the adjusted DTD. Basically, the upper structure of shared XML data is common. Adjusted DTDs are managed centrally by a server. The server also examines whether they conform to an adjusting rule. We discuss a result of prototype system using welfare information based on Web Services technology. In the prototype, we can register adjusted DTDs and search for them through Web browser.departmental bulletin pape

Mathematically Rigorous Formulation of Cloth Simulation Algorithm in 3DCG Animation

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn order to animate cloths in 3DCG (cloth simulation methods about 3DCG animation), a cloth is modeled by a 2-dimensional surface in 3-dimensional Euclideanspace, and the motion is simulated based on the Newton's dynamics equation of the surface. In this paper, the dimension of the surface will be generalized. The authors derived the Newtonian dynamics equation of m-dimensional surface(manifold) in n-dimensional Euclidean space. In many cloth simulation methods about 3DCG animation, surfaces are modeled by finite material particles. The authors proposed a method to derive the Newtonian dynamics equation of the continuum surface model based on the variational principles.departmental bulletin pape

Derivation of electromagnetic force from Maxwell equation

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe whole of Lorentz force together with Maxwell equation are not required for the first principle in electromagnetism. It is shown that total energy conservation law together with Maxwell equation or equivalently electrostatic force together with Maxwell equation is sufficient for the first principle. Electromagnetic force is derived from them without depending on the assumption of special relativity.departmental bulletin pape

Frequency characteristics of breakdown voltage by different electrode materials in cold cathode lamp

    Get PDF
application/pdfWe investigated discharge characteristics in cold cathode fluorescent lamps of 4mm inner diameter used for backlighting of liquid crystal display. The material of electrode on one side was a nickel, and on another side that was a platinum. The filling gas in the lamp was neon(40Torr). The cathode voltages of lamp with the electrodes made with different materials were simultaneously measured with high voltage probe connected to digital oscilloscope when the lamp was operated by sine-wave on the same discharge condition. The breakdown and the maintaining voltages in the case of nickel electrode are lower than these of platinum electrode. The measured breakdown voltages were almost constant in frequency region from 0.1 to 100 Hz in neon. In frequency above 500Hz, the breakdown voltages and the maintaining voltages became close values.departmental bulletin pape
