A Study on Index of Inequality in the Field of Sociology -Proposition of New Indexes of Inequality-

    Get PDF
application/pdfThe Gini coefficient is widely used as an index of the inequality in the field of sociology. On the other hand, it was pointed out that the Gini coefficient expresses only the diffusion of money and it is inaccurate expression of the diffusion of wealth at mental level (Sen, A.K, Atkinson, A.B). In this paper, three new indexes of inequality by which the diffusion of wealth at mental level can be expressed are proposed. The three new indexes are shown as equations of Eq.(5-1), Eq.(5-2) and Eq.(5-3) respectively. In addition, these new indexes of inequality were compared with other indexes, including Gini coefficient with income data of developed nations.departmental bulletin pape

Extraction and quantification of purchase factor from consumers' opinion by using creativity method

    Get PDF
application/pdfThis paper describes a method of extracting and quantifying factor model from consumers'opinions. In marketing, it is important to comprehend the behavior of consumers'purchase decision because good consumers yield most profit. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is an analysis method that clarifies purchase factor and quantifies the strength of factor. SEM can express the complex causal relationship between observational factor and latent factor, however this method has a problem that analyzer tends to construct a model based on subjective hypothesis. Therefore we utilize KJ method, one of the creativity methods, in order to construct a purchase factor model based on objective hypothesis and qualify consumers'purchase factor. In the result of an experiment, we can construct the model which has objective explanation power.departmental bulletin pape

The sampling of visitors in the event site

application/pdfWhen we do the social survey to visitors in the event site, we tend to ask randomly for whoever come "by chance". We do so, because the populations of visitors are fluid and difficult to figure out the sampling frame. In this paper I propose the significant purposive sampling of visitors in the event site as the method with two stages: in the frrst stage, we count the visitors in the event site at four time zones (in the morning, the noon, the afternoon, and the evening) and infer the populations (compositions of sex and age) of visitors. In the second stage, we adopt the quota sampling for the social survey, based on the inference.departmental bulletin pape

The digital restoration process integration of past degradation of motion pictures aiming for digital archiving

    Get PDF
application/pdfMovies have existed for over 100 years. But because of the unavoidability of age deterioration caused by the chemical instability of motion picture film, great quantities of valuable footage are being lost. Nitrate film used up to 1950 cannot escape age deterioration. Much of them have been damaged seriously. For these reasons, the digital preservation of motion picture film needs to include digital image processing technology for damage repair to restore images to their original pre-deterioration quality. This paper describes the development of robust and fast processing that is nearly ready for practical application. This was accomplished by integrating noise suppression technology, developed heretofore by us, for the suppression of flicker, blotches, scratches, and frame jitter, the main causes of age-related deterioration. Ordinarily, even if each noise repression process individually exhibits high performance, integrating them tends to result in an inability to maintain original image quality due to the effects of other noise. Our approach, comprising the investigation of the processing order and development of robust individual processes that resist other noise effects, enabled us to create integrated processing with high performance. Through computer simulations using actual movies, we demonstrated high-speed processing capable of real-time computation that delivers high image quality.departmental bulletin pape

Ball-Milling of Mixed Powder of Magnesium Oxide and Anatase-type Titanium Dioxide -Research works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System : XXI(2)-

    Get PDF
application/pdfMixed powder of MgO and anatase-type Ti02 was ground using ball mill to obtain MgTi205. Slight amount of MgTi205, however, was formed. Anatase-type Ti02 was predominantly decreased and a-PbOrtype Ti02 was formed and increased through ball-milling, which was confirmed by Raman scattering and X-ray diffraction. The a-PbOrtype Ti02 is stable under pressure above 5 GPa. We report here the attractive result of the formation of the high pressure phase of Ti02 by ball-milling.departmental bulletin pape

Reduction of differential Fay identity and integral of motions of algebro-geometric solutions

application/pdfIIn this note, we discuss polynomial solutions of Periodic Benjamin-Ono equation with discrete Laplacian. The integral of motions of these solutions are written by symmetric functions of soliton length, which obviously correspond to the eigenvalues of Macdonald q-difference operators. The purpose is to show that the so-called algebro-geometric solutions of reduced differential Fay identity degenerate into these polynomial solutions.departmental bulletin pape

Chebyshev Approximation and Remes Algorithm for the Design of Differential Filters

    Get PDF
application/pdfIn this paper we present a design method of differential filters for the identification of a linear system. For the identification of a transfer function we need the differential filters with linear phase. For some non-negative integer γmax, we propose the γ-th order (0 ≦ γ ≦ γmax) differential digital filters that are constructed by γ-times of the first order FIR differential filter γmax - γ times of the first order FIR row pass filter and several order FIR row pass filter. They are connected in cascade connection. The third FIR filter is designed by the Chebyshev approximation. For the algorithm of the approximation we use the Remes exchange method. In this algorithm the matrix inversion of a large order matrix appears. In the case of higher order filter such as 5000, this process is difficult to execute of calculation. In this paper we use quad precision floating point in Fortran 90. We present several numerical examples of the proposed method.departmental bulletin pape

Hegel's Logic–Appearance, endless decision and intellectual property–

    Get PDF
application/pdfThough Dieter Henrich's interpretation of Hegel's logic is well-known, it has been little understood and not been well appreciated. His theory of "appearance" is of great significance in the philosophy of spirit or social sciences. "Appearance" is often transformed with pretence or illusion, and it has been simply understood as fake or subjective idols. But "appearance" is an essential momentum of objectivity and veridicality. And this theory of "appearance" is also effective in addressing the challenges of applied ethics such as environmental ethics or bioethics where "coexistence" with "mutual recognition" is required. In this theory of "appearance", we can see the actuality of Hegel's philosophy that constructed so-called "dialectical logic". In the latter half of this essay, we argue for the possibility of Hegel's logic as applied ethics. This stage theory is a method for applying the theory of principle to reality, and structurally theory of "double appearance". And comparing Wissenschaft der Logik and Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts by comparison, we apply the logic of the pure science to the philosophy of reality. Situation analysis is to clarify individual facts objectively, where the individual stands on the position of others. Therefore, "double appearance", in other words, the duplication to self-reflection and reflection of others, moreover duplicate itself and becomes "quadruple appearance", whole reflection duplicated, structurally. Antigone's death, a double negation, and absolute negativity, are logical prototypes of Hegel's theory of "double appearance".departmental bulletin pape
