Magnetic and conductive properties of Gd-doped EuO
application/pdfWe applying the dynamical coherent potential approximation (Dynamical CPA) to a simple model. The model is an extension of s-f model that has been studied for the conduction states of Eu chalcogenides, and includes not only the exchange interaction between a conduction electron and localized f spins but also the nonmagnetic local potential due to the random substitution of Eu2+ ion by Gd3+ ion in regular EuO lattice sites. In this work, we investigate the property of the magnetic impurity states and/or magnetic impurity band based on the density of states (DOS) calculated for low Gd density x.departmental bulletin pape
Structural Defect Identification in Coupled Structural-acoustic System by Self Organizing Maps
application/pdfIn a coupled structural-acoustic system which has a box structure and interior air the position of a defect included in the structure is identified by using the frequency response of sound pressure level in the interior sound field. For the analysis of coupled structural-acoustic system Finite Element Method (FEM) is utilized. The box including a defect is excited by dynamical load and the frequency response of the interior sound are learned by Self-organizing Maps (SOM) as an input vector and the maps is drawn in the 2-dimensional plane. The frequency response for the model whose defect position is not known is given to the trained maps, and the identification is carried out. As a result the good accuracy of the identification is obtained. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the identification by SOM has better accuracy than by the other neural network such as LVQ (Leaming Vector Qantization) or BNN (Back Propagation Neural Network).departmental bulletin pape
Change of crystal orientation and mechanical properties of magnesium alloy AZ31 by torsion extrusion--Research works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System : XXII (4)--
application/pdfUsing a bar of 8 mm diameter of magnesium alloy AZ31, change of the crystal orientation by torsion extrusion was investigated by EBSD/FESEM analysis and mechanical properties of the torsion-extruded specimen were measured by compression test, in the case of a die of relatively low extrusion ratio 2.56, and the following results were obtained. The torsion-extruded specimen tended to form a strong texture along the extrusion axis, especially in the center region of the cross section. In contrast, the conventional extrusion sample was composed of many grains having direction perpendicular to the extrusion axis. The torsion-extruded specimen had a low strength and a good compressive ductility at high temperature, and also a high strength of about twice of the as-received specimen at room temperature. This means that the torsion-extrusion has an ability of changing a metal to a high strength material having a good formability in the field of plastic working like forging.departmental bulletin pape
A study of performances for the next fluorescent lights of LED (First report: The illuminated intensity and the amount of electric consumption)
application/pdfIlluminated intensity, amount of electric consumption and surface temperature for fluorescent lights of LED were measured. The experimental apparatus was set up in a darkroom of KAIT. Comparing results of usual lights and LED, the average of illuminated intensity for LED was brighter than that for usual, and the amount of electric consumption was less than that of usual. Furthermore, for the comparison of the surface temperature, LED was lower than usual. These results enable that LED is useful to saving air-conditioning electric energy in cooling.departmental bulletin pape
Juvenile delinquency and social rehabilitation
application/pdfIn 2004, the public was stunned by the news that an 11-year-old primary school student killed a classmate with a knife in Nagasaki. The decline in the ages of juvenile law offenders is often reported, recently. But, according to the white paper on crime, the rate per population of juveniles delinquency decrease from 2008. However, juvenile law was revised and changed the age limit on juvenile delinquency who may be sent to reformatory school. However the matter has not been settled revised juvenile law. I think that there are many problems urgently requiring improvement concerning juvenile problems. So, this study considers that juvenile delinquency and social rehabilitation.departmental bulletin pape
Phase Transformation through Ball-Milling from Anatase - Type Titanium Dioxide to α-PbO2 - type Titanium Dioxide --Research works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System : XXII(2) --
application/pdfPhase transformation from anatase-type to α-PbO2-type titanium dioxide was found through grinding of the former powder by means of ball-milling. Optical band gap of the powder sample estimated from Tauc plot of optical absorption spectrum decreases from 3.20 eV (without grinding) and becomes to be a constant value of ~ 3.09 eV with increasing number of times of the grinding. Assuming that the α-PbO2-type titanium dioxide phase, generated through the ball-milling, covers the surface of anatase-type titanium dioxide particles, the optical band gap of the α-PbO2-type titanium dioxide is estimated to be ~ 3.09 eV.departmental bulletin pape
Awareness of anti-doping issues among junior high school Judo players and importance of early introduction of anti-doping education and prevention
application/pdfAt junior Judo camps organized in 2008 and 2009, we gave lectures on anti-doping issues and conducted a survey research regarding awareness of anti-doping among 589 junior high school Judo players (male: 376, female: 213). The results did not differ from our previous study which showed differences in the level of awareness of anti-doping compared among age, years of Judo experience, and living areas, even though the survey years and subjects differed. In addition, the result of a brief survey regarding effects of the anti-doping education was not very satisfactory. Thus, to help young athletes understand properly about the anti-doping issues, anti-doping education program needs to be further developed.departmental bulletin pape
Assisted diagnosis of ultrasound images of the hepatic region for group physical examinations
application/pdfUltrasound diagnostic equipment, with the high number of facilities equipped with and engineers handling it and its minimal effects on the body, represents a convenient means of examination. It can also be an effective tool for making the first diagnosis for some visceral diseases. However, excepting ultrasound diagnostic equipment hardware, image diagnostic technology research remains confined to relatively narrow areas such as three-dimensionality, elastography, and breast cancer diagnosis. Its versatile and broadly applicable nature is not being sufficiently exploited. This study, taking as an example of widely applicable assisted diagnosis technology, the assisted diagnosis of hepatic regional disorders was demonstrated an expert system-type method that calculates the image's statistical primary features, assigns weights based on experience and obtains averages, and then outputs confidence levels for the three disorders of liver cirrhosis, fatty liver, and cysts. This method in essence quantifies and indicates the presence or absence of disease in terms of confidence level. Evaluation was performed with images from 12 patients. The method produced results that were approximately consistent with a physician's judgment for all of the images. Compared to the conventional physician-conducted method, advantages are evident in the new method's quantification capability, its reproducibility, and its standardization capability as enabled by its ability to reduce the effects of diagnostic equipment setup, composition, speckle noise, and other factors affecting judgment. Furthermore, analysis of results indicated that, because a high correlation between primary features and physician's judgment was obtained, enabling easy analysis and tracking of judgment details, validity can be justified.departmental bulletin pape
