    Application of TiO2 Powder Containing α-PbO2 - type TiO2 for Dye Sensitized Solar Cell--Research works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System : XXIV(1)--

    application/pdfTwo kinds of anatase-type titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders (particle size : 7 nm and 200 nm) and α-PbO2-type TiO2 containing powder obtained by ball-milling of the latter anatase-type TiO2 were used as anodes to fabricate dye sensitized solar cells and the photovoltaic properties of the cells were measured. The photovoltaic properties of the cell using the anatase-type powder with particle size of 200 nm and those using the α-PbO2-type containing powder were less than those using the anatase-type powder with particle size of 7 nm. Short circuit current density and open circuit voltage of the cell using α-PbO2-type containing powder were higher than those using the anatase-type powder with the particle size of 200 nm. The higher voltage is considered to be due to the α-PbO2-type TiO2, and the results in the present study show the potential of the α-PbO2-type TiO2 for improving photovoltaic properties of the dye sensitized solar cell.departmental bulletin pape

This study makes clear the influence upon the power consumption of air-conditioners and lights for the fluorescent lights of LED with comparing that of usual lights.     A Study on noise removal performance of the extended total variation filter for the restoration of images degraded by the mixed noise

    application/pdfTotal Variation (TV) filter is a nonlinear smoothing filter that is suitable mainly for Gaussian noise removal, and has an advantage of preserving edges of the objects, comparing with the conventional linear smoothing filters. We formerly extended the framework of TV filter, so that it can be applied not only for Gaussian noise but also impulse noise, which is called extended TV filter. In this paper, we applied the extended TV filter for the restoration of images degraded by the mixed noise that is composed of both Gaussian noise and impulse noise. In the proposed framework, it is required to detect spatial positions of impulse for removing the mixed noise successfully. Therefore, we introduced one of the most efficient impulse noise detectors we formerly proposed, which is based on Gaussian curvature of the image surface. Through the several noise removal experiments, it is verified that the image quality of the restored images is effectively improved, compared with the conventional filters such as original TV, DW-MTM and the hybrid of switching median and bilateral filter.departmental bulletin pape

    Hand Shape Recognition with Color Glove using Hue Values Decision by Clustering Scheme

    application/pdfThis paper presents a hand shape recognition method using a visible light camera. Color gloves, with different colored finger tips, are used to realize high performance hand shape recognition. Hue values are used for color detection. However, the illumination conditions affect these hue values and cause a deterioration in hand shape recognition performance. Two methods are introduced to enhance recognition performance, namely, frame rejection based on color error detection and a calibration process using a clustering scheme to decide hue values automatically.     application/pdfDie vorliegende Abhandlung liegt die Intention zugrunde, am geschichtlichen Material der Soziologie und des Darwinismus die Kritik der instrumentale Vernunft von Max Horkheimer zu entfalten. Die Soziologie Spencers geht vom sozialen Darwinismus aus, daß sich menschiche Natur zu der Kämpfe um die Existenz eignen und solche natürlichen Eigenschaften einer Person in Wahrheit das Ergebnis der Zuchtwahl in der Gesellschaft sind. Horkheimer sagt, "als kulturelle Bewegung ist im neunzehnten Jahrhundert der Darwinismus von größter Bedeutung". Gerade im Darwinismus zeigt sich eine Beziehung von Naturalismus und instrumentaler Vernunft Horkheimers. "Der Naturalismus tendiert – wie wir am Beispiel des Darwinismus gesehen haben – zu einer Glorifizierung jener blinden Macht über die Natur, die ihr Modell im blinden Spiel der Naturkräfte selbst haben soll". Er führt auch eine Verachtung für die vernünftige Menschheit. Man rückt ab von ihrem eigenen Vernunft und tendiert bloß natürlichen Zuchtwahl zu dienen.     Selection of the B16 melanoma cells with use of single cell manipulation technique and sequence analysis of the DNA in the single cell

    application/pdfEpigenetics is study about regulation of gene expression without changing DNA sequence. This means that difference in gene expression occur between cells due to modification state of promoter region in this gene if those have same gene. Melanin which is known as the cause of the stain is produced when tyrosine was oxidized by tyrosinase. Melanin is remains on the skin after the turnover of the skin cells. In our laboratory, we observed that tyrosinase may be affected by an epigenetics in melanin production. In this study, we investigated basic experiment of epigenetic analysis by using Pico-Pipet which capable of single cell manipulation. Single cell was selected by Pico-Pipet after cultivation of B16 melanoma cells. Expression of tyrosinase in extracted DNA from the single melanoma cell was evaluated. And the sequence of tyrosinase gene was analyzed. In the results, the expression of tyrosinase gene in a single cell was confirmed. Analysis sequence of tyrosinase gene was compared with database and the concordance rate of the sequence of tyrosinase was 100 %.departmental bulletin pape

    Discharge properties of Ni cylindrical electrode with MgO films used for cold cathode lamp

    application/pdfWe developed the high-performance electrodes of a lamp used for backlighting liquid crystal displays. The discharge characteristics of the electrodes were measured. The electrodes used for discharge lamp were cylinder type (cup type). MgO has a high secondary electron emission. The MgO film was grown in Ni cup of 4 mm inner diameter by DC sputtering. The cathode voltages of a lamp with the electrodes coated in MgO thin films were simultaneously measured with a high voltage probe connected to a digital oscilloscope when the lamp was operated by a sine-wave power supply under the same discharge condition. The maintained voltages of electrodes coated in MgO thin films were 60 % lower than those of Ni. It was hardly sputtered in discharge tube with the MgO electrodes.departmental bulletin pape

    application/pdfThis paper proposes a method, by using datamining approach, for knowledge discovery from historical usage data of a photovoltaic power generation apparatus, which is a central element of a home energy management system (HEMS). The discovered knowledge is intended to use as a basic principle to save energy in a home with HEMS. Each home has different situations of apparatuses and of preferences, thus it is necessary taking into account such differences in practical methods of energy saving. In order to achieve this goal, the obtained knowledge has enough readability and understandability for non-expert person. For this reason, we point out that traditional approaches mostly based on artificial neural networks are inadequate in HEMS environment.     Construction of Reflection Spectrum Measuring Equipmention and Application of the Titanium Doped Sapphire Crystal to the Measurement

    application/pdfFor reflection spectrum measurement in ultraviolet wavelength range, the automatic mesurement system using the computer was constructed, and Al2O3:Ti3+ and Al2O3 crystal were measured actually. By taking the ratio of output voltage from the photodetector for Al2O3:Ti3+ and Al2O3 crystal, it was confirmed that the Al2O3:Ti3+ crystal had the peak of the reflection spectrum strength near 220nm. The coincidence in which the impurity energy level of Al2O3:Ti3+ crystal was good in the comparison with literature data was shown.departmental bulletin pape
