Development of screening system of apoptosis-inducing agent based on the survivin-interaction as a target.
application/pdfApoptosis is necessary to keep homeostasis for the human. Survivin is a member of the Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein (IAP) family. If DNA is damaged in cells, the DNA will be repaired. However, if the irreparable damage occurs, the cells will induce apoptosis. It is known that the apoptosis is suppressed by inhibition of caspase-9 activity by binding of survivin to the caspase-9, and that it is needed to form a complex o f survivin with XIAP to inhibit the activity of caspase-9. Therefore, inhibition of interaction of survivin and XIAP will become a target of apoptosis induction. In this study, we developed an evaluation system of interaction of survivin and XIAP based on a Two-Hybrid method. Survivin and XIAP were cloned from HepG2 cells and those were constructed as vectors pACTII-survivin (prey vector) and pAS1-XIAP (bait vector). The yeast was transformed with both vectors by lithium acetate method and cultured in SG medium including the X -gal. In the results, blue colony attributed to survivin and XIAP interaction was obtained and the results indicated that the evaluation system of survivin-XIAP interaction was successfully developed.departmental bulletin pape
Design of Resonance Frequency of Smart Helmholtz Resonator Using Neural Network.
application/pdfIn the past paper the authors developed the design method for determining the gains of PID controller of Smart Helmholtz Resonator by using Response Surface Method and optimization analysis. This method is the original method by the authors and the details are described in the authors' papers. There, it was concluded that the desired resonance frequency of the resonator can be obtained quite accurately by using the gains from the analysis. However, it was shown that there is the error due to the optimization analysis from error analysis. When using optimization analysis, accuracy and calculation cost becomes key problems. In order to improve this fact it is needed to develop the more accurate method. In this paper it is proposed to utilize Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to improve the accuracy of the obtained resonance frequency. From the numerical simulation it is confirmed that the mapping between the integral gain KI and the resonance frequency can be constructed very well by using Holographic Neural Network (HNN) and the accuracy of the testing is improved by selecting the input and output of the HNN properly.departmental bulletin pape
A Study on Contact Condition of Thermal Interface Material.
application/pdfRecently, the increasing performance of semiconductor devices has been accompanied by a simultaneous rise in the amount of heat they emit. When an electronic device is mounted on a metallic heat sink, a thermal interface material is required to handle the thermal energy emitted while simultaneously maintaining an acceptable level of electrical insulation. However, the thermal characteristics of thermal interface materials are strongly influenced by the manner in which they make contact with the heat sink. We proposed measuring the thermal characteristics of a thermal interface material placed on an aluminum plate that had been machine-milled to form precise grooves designed to simulate heat sink surface roughness, and called it a “non-flat plate". This plate had nine 1-mm-wide 0.3-mm-deep grooves situated 4 mm apart. When pressure is applied to the thermal interface material, the material penetrates into these grooves, thus increasing contact between the two materials and consequently decreasing thermal resistance. Then, by varying the groove shapes and applied pressure amounts, contact conditions can be precisely controlled. This allows complex thermal parameters to be measured with good repeatability.departmental bulletin pape
Sign Language Recognition by Color Detection for Colored Glove and its Evaluation.
application/pdfThis paper presents the feasibility study for the recognition of sign language. The main feature of our proposed method is to use colored gloves in which several areas are assigned by different colors. This makes it possible to discriminate each finger and to recognize hand shape by color detection result. In addition, the hand motion can be detected by the variation of the position of colored region of the wrist. The recognition method which consists of hand shape recognition by the color detection results and hand motion recognition by DP matching was implemented in the PC, and the experiment was carried out by using the optical camera. The recognition success ratio of 83.3% for the basic 24 words of sign language was obtained, and the feasibility of the proposed method was verified by the experiments.departmental bulletin pape
New Stannate Phosphors.
application/pdfTwo stannnates, K2MgSn7O16 and Ca2Sn2Al2O9, were selected as host materials for phosphors, and new phosphors were synthesized for the first time. Bluish white fluorescence was observed under UV for Ti-doped stannate K2Mg(Sn7-xTix)O16. The bluish white fluorescence was considered to be due to the charge transfer from O 2p to Ti 3d under UV. Yellow fluorescence was observed under UV for Mn-doped Ca2(Sn2-xMnx)Al2O9, and long lasting afterglow was observed for a few tens of seconds. Mn ions were considered to be divalent states in the phosphors, and formation of oxygen deficiency though the substitution of Sn4+ by Mn2+ was considered to cause the long lasting afterglow.departmental bulletin pape

Preparedness of Medication for Natural Disaster by Local Government and its Issues
application/pdfThis study reports preparedness of medication, including medical supplies, for natural disaster by local government and identifies issues of the current situation. This study reveals that the local government makes necessary medication available in emergencies by stocking it by themselves and/or by requesting it to local pharmacies under emergency support agreements. However, it is also revealed that the level of preparedness is different by size of the local government and expected earthquake damage. In order to protect lives of citizens, it is essential for local government to take effective measures to make medication available locally, to keep necessary amount that is estimated from number of citizens and expected damage, and to build a close relationship with specialists, such as doctors and pharmacists, who can help local government in emergencies.departmental bulletin pape
Electronic resistivity of La-doped EuO and Gd-doped EuO.
application/pdfWe have studied the electronic, magnetic and transport properties of Gd-doped EuO and La-doped EuO. Gd is a magnetic impurity, while La is a nonmagnetic impurity. Applying the dynamical coherent potential approximation (Dynamical CPA) to simple models, we have calculated the electronic resistivity. We have also discussed about the effect of the electron screening which weakens an attractive potential on an impurity ion. The present result strongly suggests that, when doping density is as higher as 5% the effect of electron screening is so strong that the transport property does not significantly depend on the impurity species.departmental bulletin pape
Numerical semigroups which are not the Weierstrass semigroups on double covers of plane curves.
application/pdfWe investigate the Weierstrass semigroups oframification points on double covers of smooth plane curves of degree d ~ 5 such that the ramification points are on flexes whose tangential multiplicities are d - 2. Using the results we give numerical semigroups which are not the Weierstrass semigroups of the ramification points.departmental bulletin pape
