Examinations of fabrication process of photoanode employing MgTi2O5 and power generation properties of dye sensitized solar cells -- Research works accomplished by using materials analysis facilities: XXVI (3)--
application/pdfDye sensitized solar cells in which photoanodes were fabricated by employing MgTi2O5 as semiconducting porous film material were assembled and their photovoltaic properties were investigated. In the present study, MgTi2O5 was synthesized and ground by a ball-milled, and was used to prepare paste to form the porous film,. The ball-milling process resulted in improvement of open circuit voltage and short circuit current density. It was considered from FE-SEM observations of the film formed that the ball-milling process resulted in less ineffectual pores in the films and the improvement of the photovoltaic properties. The photovoltaic properties varied by cells with the ball-milling process comparing with the cells without ball-milling process. It was considered that the ball-milling process dispersed the size distribution of MgTi2O5 particles and that MgTi2O5 films with similar quality were difficult to be formed reproducibly.departmental bulletin pape
The Study of Ashibyoshi Stamping in Japanese Traditional Performing Arts
application/pdfStamping is a significant act in traditional Japanese perfonning arts, as well as in religious practices. It is an act to ward off evil spirits, to mark the threshold between this world and another out-of-the-ordinary world, or simply to accentuate the flow of dancing movement. In this paper, I will first examine various cases of stamping in traditional Japanese performing arts and religious practices. Second, I will point out some significant characteristics that run through various forms of perfonnance. Third, I will discuss how the act of stamping came to be elevated into and refined as a highly sophisticaed and artistic expression. In traditional performing arts of the medieval and pre-modem periods, structural innovations were made to amplify the acoustic effect of stamping. Structure and characteristics of antibacterial PVA hydrogel films -- Research works accomplished by using materials analysis facilities: XXVI (2)--
application/pdfPoly(vinyl alcohol) is known to have high moisture content and nontoxicity. In this study, chemically cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel films were prepared by adding glutaraldehyde as the cross-linker. Cross-linked gels were chemically stable and resistant to heat. Antibacterial hydrogels were obtained by blending chitosan solutions with different concentrations. The value of Young's modulus of PVA hydrogel film increased with increasing chitosan content. According to the shake method (SIAA), these hydrogels exhibit antibacterial activity against Staphyrococcus aureus. Research for inorganic photochromic materials.
application/pdfTwo types of inorganic photochromic materials were studied in this work. Artificial hackmanites with the composition of Na8(AlSiO4)6(Cl2-2xSx) were synthesized and it was found that the photochromic color density increased with increasing sulfur content x. Solid solutions Ba(Mg1-x/2Alx/2)(Si1-x/2Alx/2)O4, which are barium magnesium silicates BaMgSiO4 substituted by Al, were also synthesized and it was succeeded that the optical absorption wavelength was modified to be lowered with increasing aluminum content. Photochromic BaMgSiO4 is synthesized by using H3BO3 as a raw material, which has been explained to be flux. However, BaMgSiO4 synthesized without H3BO3 and subsequently H3BO3 added did not show photochromism. Boron is suggested to be an essential constituent for the photochromism of BaMgSiO4.departmental bulletin pape

Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Employing MgTi2O5 as Photoelectrode Material -- Research works accomplished by using Electron Microscope System:XXV(1) --
application/pdfDye sensitized solar cells have been studied and developed extensively by many research groups, because they can be fabricated at lower costs and they show relatively higher power generation efficiency. Anatase-type TiO2 nano-powder is typically employed as a material for the photoelectrode of the solar cell. In the present study, MgTi2O5 nano-powder was substituted for the anatase-type TiO2 nano-powder. It was confirmed for the first time that the dye sensitized solar cell which was assembled by employing the MgTi2O5 photoelectrode really generated electricity. The solar cell showed the open circuit voltage of 0.55 V, the short circuit current density of 0.087 mAcm-2, the maximum power of 0.018 mWcm-2, and 0.38 of the fill factor. The MgTi2O5 film of the photoelectrode had the structure that coarse particles were deposited sparsely, so that the considerably small values of the current density and the power were considered to be accomplished, and. the possibilities of improvement for the power generation properties were shown for the dye sensitized solar cell employing MgTi2O5 as the photoelectrode material.departmental bulletin pape
