Predicting Irregular Power Consumption According to the Indoor Environment with Sensor of Home Appliances
Get PDFapplication/pdfWe propose a method for predicting a future pattern of the power consumption by mechanically classifying multiple patterns of the power consumption based on sensor information collected from home appliances. Conventional methods for predicting the amount of power consumed by general households or similar small areas are effective for a regular change in power consumption. However, it is difficult to predict an irregular change by those methods. In our method, representative patterns are mechanically extracted from the past changes in the power consumption recorded each day, and a future pattern is predicted from those representative patterns. The past representative patterns are extracted by clustering. The future pattern is predicted by creating a model of the correlation between the consumption pattern and indoor conditions using a classifier. The prediction by the classifier requires data on the indoor conditions. Therefore, we constructed a sensor network using networked home appliances. The use of the home appliances enabled the construction of a sensor network that is easier to maintain and lower in cost than conventional sensor networks. The result of an experiment on the maximum absolute error confirmed the effectiveness of the prediction based on the information collected from home appliances.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFapplication/pdfGenerally, antifebrile is used when human has fever caused to have cold. However, side effects such as a feeling of vomiting or dizziness may be caused when antifebrile was used excessively. Therefore, a method to control a released quantity by human body temperature is required. A gel which swells and shrinks based on differential temperature in the environment was focused for applying it to medical materials. A gel consist of polyrotaxane which is topological materials is easy to swell or shrink. Synthesis of stimuli-responsive polyrotaxane gel was performed in this study. And then, the shrinkage ratios of the obtained gel in temperature range of from 10 to 70℃ were evaluated. Temperature domain where mass of synthesized gel suddenly changed was 30 to 40℃. Mass of the gel decreased to 15% of original mass at high temperature. Mass of polyrotaxane gel decreased more than approximately 20% in comparison with usual stimuli-responsive gel.departmental bulletin pape
The perceptions and activities of the community residents participating in the Family Support Center Project
Get PDFapplication/pdfBackground and aims : Many Japanese families are nuclear, young, and do not usually receive outside support. Moreover, relationships with the neighborhood are often weak. Therefore, mothers may have an increased child-rearing burden because they do not receive support from the outside community. In response, the Family Support Center Project has been undertaken to establish connections between mothers who wish to receive childcare support and community residents who are paid to provide such support. The purpose of this study was to clarify the perceptions and activities of the community residents participating in this project. Method : Semi-structured interviews with four community residents were conducted after consent to participate was obtained. Participants were asked about their concerns, worries, and activities for providing support to families with special needs. Each interview was recorded and responses were transcribed for analysis. Data were then classified into main categories and subcategories based on the results of our preliminary study. Results : This study obtained four main categories related to supporting families with special needs: 1) "Responsibility to realize the activities required to support families with special needs", 2) "Providing close support to the parent and child", 3) “Difficulties in compromising with the parent and child"; and 4) "Motivation to provide support". Conclusions : The study suggested that an educational program or system which enables community residents to provide childcare support that considers the child's safety and development is necessary.departmental bulletin pape
Impact of teacher's support on effective creativity education for high school students--Case Study: IT Dream Contest 2016--
Get PDFapplication/pdfThis study evaluates the impact of teacher's supports on high school student's creativity improvement. Existing literatures propose types of teacher's supports that are useful to student's creativity improvement, but they do not prioritize teacher's supports in terms of effectiveness of the creative education and discuss types of supports that are suitable to students in a specific situation. By using survey to attendees and their supervisors of an idea contest for high school students, this study identifies that to improve student's creativity not only letting students keep motivated and giving them useful feedbacks but also making the environment of the students suitable to creativity improvement are effective. This study also identifies that there are significant differences between teacher's supports in classroom activity and extracurricular activity as well as those between group work and individual work. By providing these findings to teachers of creativity education, they can support their students more effectively.departmental bulletin pape
