ALLELOPATHIC POTENTIAL OF BIRTHWORT (Aristolochia clematitis L.) EXTRACTS ON CROPS AND WEEDS
Allelopathic plants and their chemical compounds offer promising possibilities for sustainable weed management. This study aimed to assess the phytotoxic potential of birthwort (Aristolochia clematitis L.) on the germination and early growth of crops (wheat, barley, basil) and the weed species redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L.). Extracts from fresh and dry aboveground biomass of A. clematitis, in different concentrations, were evaluated using a Petri dish bioassay and a pot experiment with soil. The results indicated that allelopathic effects of A. clematitis extracts depended on extract concentration, biomass type, test species, and application method. Germination and growth of the test species generally decreased as the concentration of weed biomass in the water extracts increased. In the Petri dish bioassay, extracts from fresh biomass had both positive and negative effects, while higher concentrations of dry biomass extract suppressed germination and seedling growth by up to 90 %. In the pot experiment, the allelopathic impact was less pronounced, and inhibition was observed only with the application of extracts from dry biomass. Variability in species sensitivity was also noted, with barley and A. retroflexus being the most affected. A. clematitis shows great potential as a subject for further research
KOMPONENTENETO OBRTNOG KAPITALA I PROFITABILNOST PODUZEĆA U HRVATSKOJ NA TEMELJU PANEL PODATAKA OD 2016. DO 2023.
This study examines the relationship between individual components of net working capital and corporate profitability in Croatia over the period from 2016 to 2023. The analysis focuses on two key profitability indicators, ROA and ROE, while the core working capital components included in the research comprise inventory, cash, receivables, and short-term liabilities. To account for the crisis period, a COVID_dummy variable was introduced to capture the direct pandemic impact years. Three methodological approaches were employed in the empirical analysis: classical OLS regression on transformed data, fixed effects panel regression, and dynamic GMM regression to address potential endogeneity and time dependence. The results indicate that receivables and cash have a positive influence on profitability, whereas short-term liabilities exhibit a negative effect. The impact of the COVID_dummy variable was not statistically significant. The findings confirm the importance of disaggregated analysis of working capital components in assessing firms’ financial performance and highlight the need to include additional control variables in future research. Nalazi potvrđuju važnost dezagregirane analize komponenti obrtnog kapitala u procjeni financijske uspješnosti poduzeća i naglašavaju potrebu uključivanja dodatnih kontrolnih varijabli u buduća istraživanja
Prediction of mechanical properties of zinc alloy based on machine learning algorithm
As a medical implant material, zinc alloys need to have high strength and suffi-cient hardness to support bone regeneration. Therefore, it is important to clearly define the design criteria for zinc alloys that meet the mechanical property re-quirements of degradable medical implants. In this work, mechanical property data of Zn-Mg-Mn alloys were obtained through experimental research and liter-ature collection. A performance-oriented machine learning (ML) model was used to predict the compressive yield strength and hardness of Zn-Mg-Mn alloys with different element types, contents and alloy preparation processes, and then the in-fluence of element types and contents on the microstructure and macroscopic me-chanical properties of the material was explored. Based on the existing dataset, the model compared six different ML algorithms and identified the optimal prediction algorithm. To further verify the accuracy of the model’s predictions, data outside the dataset were randomly selected for comparative analysis with the model re-sults. The results showed that the prediction errors of the algorithm designed in this work for compressive yield strength and hardness were less than 2 % and 2.4 %, respectively
KONVERGENCIJA HRVATSKE S EU-OM I DRŽAVAMA SREDNJE I ISTOČNE EUROPE: USKLAĐIVANJE GOSPODARSKOG RASTA I BLAGOSTANJA
This study examines the impact of EU Cohesion Policy on Croatia’s socio-economic development since its 2013 accession, focusing on its convergence with Central and Eastern European and Southern Member States relative to the Old Member States and the EU-27. Using 11 indicators across four dimensions – techno-economic performance, innovation, institutional quality, and well-being – the study benchmarks progress against Old MS and EU-27 averages in selected indicators. The results show that the CEECs and Croatia have outpaced the Old MS in most indicators, demonstrating both their convergence with the latter and their role as key drivers of economic and social progress within the EU. However, despite this progress, they continue to lag the Old MS and EU-27 averages in all dimensions, with the widest gaps in institutional quality and well-being. This highlights that robust economic growth has not been fully translated into improvements in the non-economic dimensions of development. Korištenjem 11 pokazatelja unutar četiriju dimenzija – tehno-ekonomske uspješnosti, inovacija, institucionalne kvalitete i blagostanja – studija uspoređuje ostvareni napredak s prosjecima starih država članica i EU-27 u odabranim pokazateljima.
Well-Being and Stress of Teachers in Marginalised Communities: A Systematic Review
dobrobiti i stresu učitelja.
dobrobit učitelja ozbiljnije ugrožena u marginaliziranim i zajednicama
s niskim prihodima. Ovaj sustavni pregled ima za cilj
sintetizirati trenutačne istraživačke dokaze koji ispituju dobrobit i
stres učitelja u marginaliziranim zajednicama. Pregled je uključivao
sustavno pretraživanje kvalitativnih i kvantitativnih recenziranih
i neobjavljenih empirijskih studija i disertacija. Od četrdeset
pet studija uključenih u pregled, 44 % istaknulo je znatan
stres i ugroženu dobrobit među učiteljima.
uključenosti i predanosti učitelja. Nadalje, 18 % studija naglasilo
jasno definiraju ciljanu populaciju i posvete više pažnje procesu
odabira uzorka, 2) u analizu i opis uključe ispitanike koji nisu
Reported teacher stress and teacher attrition are at alarming
levels. These trends have led to a number of studies on the well-
-being and stress of teachers. Additionally, evidence suggests
that teachers' well-being is more severely threatened in marginalised
and low-income communities. This systematic review
aims to synthesise the current research evidence examining the
well-being and stress of teachers in marginalised communities.
The review included a systematic search of both qualitative and
quantitative peer-reviewed and unpublished empirical studies
and dissertations. Of the forty-five studies included in the review,
44% highlighted considerable stress and compromised well-
-being among teachers. However, 15% also revealed a strong
sense of purpose and a high level of involvement and commitment
of teachers. Additionally, 18% of the studies emphasised
the importance of positive relationships between teachers, their
colleagues, and school management, as well as the role of institutional
support in promoting teacher well-being. Based on the
results of the review and risk of bias assessment, we recommend
that future studies: 1) clearly define the target population and
pay more attention to the sample selection process, 2) include
the non-responding in the analysis and description, and 3) place
greater emphasis on ethical considerations
COMPETITIVENESS EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF FARMS
The competitiveness of farms of different sizes is a complex issue, depending in particular on both the type of farm and its capacity to expand. The drive for competitiveness is further boosted by the prevailing environmental change, where rising environmental levels are reorienting farms towards sustainability. In the long term, this will benefit the segment, as sustainable farms will have more opportunities both to sell their products and to create additional value from the agricultural waste they generate. This paper presents solutions to assess the level of competitiveness and potential of farms. The assessment models are versatile, thus allowing their use in different countries or regions. The paper presents relevant indicators for assessing the competitiveness of farms from economic, social and environmental perspectives, in line with the principles of sustainable development. Particular attention is paid to dairy farms, as they present the greatest existential and sustainability challenges
Generalized Horn function and related bounding inequalities with applications to statistics
Motivated by recent unified version of the Euler's Beta integral form with a MacDonald function in the integrand,
we generalize the Horn double hypergeometric function . We then establish integral representations of the Euler
and Laplace type including some other representations involving Bessel and modified Bessel functions for
the generalized Horn double hypergeometric function . Several functional upper bounds for the
including the extended Gaussian hypergeometric , the extended Kummer's
confluent hypergeometric are obtained by using functional bounds for extended Euler's Beta function
. Various other bounding inequalities are obtained via Luke's, von Lommel's, Minakshisundaram
and Szász and Olenko bounds. As an application, we define a Horn hypergeometric probability distribution to obtain certain

The Influence of Social Support on the Quality of Life of Gynaecology Cancer Patients
Survival from most forms of cancer is increasing. With advances in early cancer diagnosis and treatment, cancer is often no longer a death sentence, but a chronic disease. Gynecological cancers, including cancers of the cervix, ovaries, and uterus, are among the ten most common cancers in women. The aim of the study was to examine the level of quality of life of women with gynecological cancer, the level of social support received, and the correlation between social support and the quality of life of their life. Subjects and methods: The study involved 99 women with female genital cancer, average age 62.54 years, average duration of treatment 27.67 months. Results: According to the obtained results, the quality of life of patients with gynecological cancer decreases with age, does not depend on the length of treatment and increases with greater social support from family, loved ones and friends. Conclusion: Long-term living with stressful situations related to living with a cancer diagnosis can significantly affect patients and their loved ones. That is why the quality of life of cancer patients has become a priority issue. It has been established that cancer can significantly worsen the quality of life
