The objectives of this Paper have been to examine which data on agriculture can be found in the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia Database, and what are the possibilities for the use of the Database in the research and analysis of agriculture. The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia Database physically represents normalized database formed in DBMS SQL Server. The methodological approach to the Paper subject is primarily related to modelling and the way of using Database. The options of accession, filtering and downloading of data from the Database are explained. The technical characteristics of the Database were described, indicators of agriculture listed and the possibilities of using Database were analysed. We examined whether these possibilities could be improved. It was concluded that improvements were possible, first, by enriching Database with data that are now only available in printed publications of the Office, and then, through methodological and technical improvements by redesigning the Database modelled on cloud founded databases. Also, the application of the achievements of the new multidisciplinary scientific field - Visual Analytics would improve visualization, interactive data analysis and data management.

Geospatial and temporal analyses of total number and consequences of various natural disasters in the world, clearly indicate their increase, which creates the necessity for better readiness of the population to react in such situations. At the same time, natural disasters are no longer perceived as a threat to the security of people, but also as a serious threat to national and international security. Therefore, the reasons for mitigating the consequences are concern of every man, society and nation. In this context, education about natural disasters is increasingly gaining in importance, and also is becoming recognized as a key factor in mitigating the consequences of disasters that certainly can not be prevented. The aim of this quantitative research is to determine the perception and actual knowledge of secondary school students in the Belgrade region with respect to the landslide as a natural disaster and security threat and to identify the factors that influence their knowledge and perceptions. The authors use a method of surveying students to identify and describe the factors that influence student knowledge and perceptions about earthquakes. For the purpose of this research, a sample of 3.548 students was drawn from the total population of secondary school students in Belgrade (65.561 students), which equates to 5.4% of the population. With respect to disaster risk reduction, schools should become increasingly important targets for creating and improving the culture of security that includes training youth to respond knowledgably to landslides. Schools should play a key role in providing basic information (knowledge) about potential and actual disasters in the local communities. The research results shows that the students' knowledge of the landslide influence: gender, age, education father, success in school; the perception: sex, fear of natural disasters, education in family and school; and knowledge of safety procedures reactions: age, success in school, living in a household with his grandfather, education in family and school. In view of the evident lack of education about natural disasters in Serbia, the results of this study can be used when creating a strategy for educational programs. Research suggests how to affect secondary school students in order to raise the level of perception and knowledge about landslides.

Impact of climate change on the distribution of extreme temperatures as natural disasters

Much of the scientific community agrees that global temperature as a result of climate change has increased significantly in the last century, and will continue to grow in the near future. According to the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC, 2001 (IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), the global average temperature has increased by about 0.6 degrees in the 20th century, although climate warming was not uniform neither spatially nor temporally, as was indicated by observed changes and modelling studies. Variations in global or regional cases of extreme air temperatures that occurred due to changes in climate cause more and more attention lately as living beings and ecosystems and human society are sensitive to the severity, frequency and persistence of cases of extreme temperatures. In this regard, in order to effectively protect and respond to emergencies caused by harmful temperature extremes, it is necessary among other things to comprehensively investigate the mentioned natural phenomenon, so the subject of this paper will be an analysis of climate change as well as form, consequences, temporal and geospatial distribution of extreme temperatures. Using an international database on natural disasters of the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), based in Brussels, with the support of program for statistical analysis (SPSS) and the method of thematic cartography, we have tried to point out the number, trends, consequences, temporal and geospatial distribution of extreme temperature in the period from 1900 to 2013, as well as the need for an adequate response of society to this type of natural hazard

Genetic basis of aggression: Overview and implications for legal proceedings

    No full text
History and patterns of aggressive behavior represent an integral part of the offender's profile during forensic investigations. Traditionally, the majority of evidence on determinants of criminal behavior is contributed by environmental data. In the past two decades, a growing body of research in the fields of neurobiology and genetics has immensely enriched our understanding of the topic. This paper provides a systematic overview of genetic factors believed to govern the development of aggressive and criminal behavior in humans. A particular emphasis is given to the polymorphisms of genes involved in serotonergic and dopaminergic metabolisms in relationship to varying aggressive behavioral outcomes. In addition to approaches focused on individual genes, whole genome analyses, interplay between genetic factors, as well as gene-environment interactions, are also discussed with respect to this complex behavior. Finally, severity of incorporating these findings into the justice system, as well as the importance of considering them in contemporary criminalistics, are contemplated

Optimization Algorithms in Function of Binary Character Recognition

    No full text
The paper gives an analysis of some optimization algorithms in computer sciences and their implementation in solving the problem of binary character recognition. The performance of these algorithms is analyzed using the Optimization Algorithm Toolkit, with emphasis on determining the impact of parameter values. It is shown that these types of algorithms have shown a significant sensitivity as far as the choosing of the parameters was concerned which would have an effect on how the algorithm functions. In this sense, the existence of optimal value was found, as well as extremely unacceptable values

Modelling of Characteristics of a Crater Emerged from a Surface Explosion on the Soil

    No full text
The paper presents empirical and numerical models of characteristics of a crater emerged from a surface explosion of a small TNT charge on the soil. The proposed models can be useful for estimation of the explosive mass based on the crater characteristics. The models show satisfactory fitting with the experimental results and confirm the hypothesis that the crater characteristics depend on the explosive mass and contact area between the charge and the soil surface. Two equations for estimation of the explosive mass based on the crater volume are proposed
