This paper examines theoretical perspectives, research approaches and research results about the relationship between social stratification and cultural consumption. Paper presents main representatives of three sociological discourses: those who believe that class divisions still exist and that thay had an influence on the social inequalities, especially in the domain of cultural consumption and tastes; authors and researchers who emphasize the impact of social stratification on the formation of cultural stratification, and the third group which consists of those who are advocates of cultural consumptions theories and individualization and cultural tastes which means that membership of a particular social class are not by any cultural influences.U radu se razmatraju teorijska stanovišta i istraživački pristupi i rezultati o vezi između društvene stratifikacije i kulturne potrošnje.

Sustained release of alpha-lipoic acid from chitosan microbeads synthetized by inverse emulsion method

    No full text
The aim of this study was to investigate the encapsulation of a-lipoic acid (LA) onto chitosan microbeads in order to achieve a sustained release. Microbeads of different compositions were synthetized by inverse emulsion method, and characterized by in vitro swelling and drug release studies, FT-IR, DSC and SEM analyses. The encapsulation of LA was performed by swelling of previously synthetized dry microbeads in LA solution. The encapsulation efficiency was determined in terms of LA concentration, using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The swelling of synthetized microbeads was well pronounced in the acidic media. FT-IR analysis confirmed the presence of LA in microbeads and its interactions with matrices, which was in agreement with the results revealed by DSC analysis. SEM analysis revealed the porous structure, micron-size and spherical shape of the synthetized beads. Encapsulation efficiency was in the range from 46.8 to 58.5% depending on the hydrogel composition. The microbeads exhibited sustained release of LA under conditions mimicking gastrointestinal tract. Results of antioxidant activity of released LA showed good correlation with the concentration of the released LA. The obtained results suggested that synthetized microbeads have promising potential for oral administration with reduced dosing frequency in comparison to the immediate release formulations

This paper analyzes behavior (spectra and states) of the elementary charge carriers in anisotropic perovskite structures, such as modern superconducting ceramics. Translational symmetry of the atom (ion) distribution of the electron (or hole) system is broken by atomic/ionic/molecular sputtering and doping, as well as due to existence of two boundary surfaces. This is a charge carrier's model of high-temperature superconductors in which the observed symmetry breaking orthogonal to CuO planes was treated as a perturbation. The single-particle fermion's wave functions and the possible energies of charge carriers were determined.U radu je analizirano ponašanje (spektri i stanja) elementarnih nosilaca naelektrisanja u anizotropnim perovskitnim strukturama, kakve su savremene superprovodne keramike.

Serbia's Action against Transnational Organised Crime

    No full text
This article examines the extent to which Serbia has implemented relevant international standards on action against transnational organised crime contained in the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime 2000. The first part explores key obligations with particular reference to prohibition of substantive offences, intelligence-led law enforcement (special investigative techniques), confiscation of criminal proceeds, as well as international law enforcement cooperation. The second part of the article analyses how these obligations are implemented by Serbia in reality by examining legislative frameworks as well as law enforcement practices. The main conclusion is that, while Serbia has taken some steps to implement international standards with a view to enhancing individual and collective actions against transnational organised crime, effective law enforcement is hampered by issues such as corruption and a lack of expertise, experience and resources

    Get PDF
The efficiency of a thin layered activated charcoal material used in chemical protective overgarments has been evaluated. The study has been conducted with the aim to obtain protective materials with best characteristics considering resistance to benzene effect under dynamic conditions and to create a new filtration protection device. In order to evaluate dynamic adsorption characteristics of thin layered sorption materials, sophisticated dynamic gas chromatography method is used. The curves of benzene penetration are determined for sandwich materials, and sorption layers used in filtrating protective clothing shows that thin layered carbon sorption materials (type MOO) have good protective properties as compared to other similar materials. The findings will help to create conditions for developing a functional model for producing a new protective overgarment in the near future

Contemporary trends in criminal procedure legislation are deliberately looking for efficiency as well as the instruments of implementation of international standards both in its quantitative and qualitative aspects. Doctrinal considerations find their footing in the decades-long reform of criminal procedural legislation of the Serbia, whereas the question that has always represented one of the most significant characteristics of criminal procedural legislation in general is the correlation between the public prosecutor and the police and its contribution to the efficiency of criminal proceedings. Serbia adopted new Criminal Procedure Code in 2011, which entered into the force during the 2013. According to the abovementioned, the authors pay special attention to the following issues: first, the notion of the police and the police functions; secondly, the correlation of the public prosecutor and the police as a factor in the efficiency of criminal proceedings; thirdly, empirical research and proposals de lege ferenda.

Encapsulation of alpha-lipoic acid into chitosan and alginate/gelatin hydrogel microparticles and its in vitro antioxidant activity

    Get PDF
Alpha-lipoic acid is an organosulphur compound well-known for its therapeutic potential and antioxidant properties. However, the effective use of alpha-lipoic acid depends on biological plasma half-life and its preserving stability, which could be improved by encapsulation. In this study, alpha-lipoic acid was incorporated into chitosan microparticles obtained by reverse emulsion crosslinking technique, as well as into microparticles of alginate/gelatin crosslinked with zinc ions. Encapsulation of alpha-lipoic acid in both cases was carried out by swelling of synthesized dried microparticles by their dipping in a solution of the active substance under strictly controlled conditions. Encapsulation efficiency of alpha-lipoic acid obtained in this study was up to 53.9%. The structural interaction of alpha-lipoic acid with the carriers was revealed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In vitro released studies showed that controlled release of alpha-lipoic acid was achieved through its encapsulation into chitosan microparticles. The results of in vitro antioxidative activity assays of released alpha-lipoic acid indicated that antioxidant activity was preserved at a satisfactory level. These obtained results suggested that chitosan microparticles could be suitable for modeling the controlled release of alpha-lipoic acid

Effects of friction-welding parameters on the morphological properties of an Al/Cu bimetallic joint

    Get PDF
The objective of this research is to consider the effects of certain parameters of the friction-welding process on the morphology of an aluminum/copper joint. The effect of the following parameters was monitored: the operating time, the operating pressure, the forging time and the forging pressure. The speed was constant during the binding process and reached 1500 min(-1). The preparation of the welding materials was performed in accordance with the industrial production conditions. With the SEM-EDS analysis, it was found that the morphology of the Al/Cu interface slightly changes when we change the distance from the rotation axis, irrespective of the combination of the friction-welding parameters. Apart from this, the joined effects of the operating pressure of 48 MPa and the forging pressure of 160 MPa caused a morphological change of the Al/Cu interface, while the forging time at the moment of the combined pressurizing effect significantly influenced the modification of the Al/Cu interface shape within a very narrow time interval of only a few seconds

State policy with regards to art crime

It is estimated that the annual proceeds from art crime amounts to between 2 and 6 billion US dollars, most of which is used for financing international organised crime and terrorism. Since the Second World War, this type of crime has developed into the third most profitable criminal industry, following illegal arms trade and drug trafficking. The research encompasses different categories of art crimes (theft of artistic objects, vandalism, looting of antiquities, and forgeries) all of which share a common trait - they involve premeditated criminal activity. The research has included typical examples from the history of art crime, both in times of peace and during wars, and especially in conflict-affected zones. The general impression is that the nature and danger of this type of (organised) crime is not sufficiently understood by the public or by the representatives of the governments, for whom combating drug trafficking and financial crime seem to have priority. The subject matter of this thesis is art crime and the consequences that it causes to society. The general hypothesis is that the negative effect of (organised) art crime is manifested in the infliction of great cultural, spiritual and material damage and in decreasing the overall security of the state and its citizens as holders of the works of art. The purpose of empirical research presented in this study- based on the statistical analysis of the structure and trends of art crime in Serbia in the period between 2000 and 2014 - was to provide a description of the situation in Serbia regarding art crime in the observed period, offering certain elements of prediction for the future. The research was aimed at gathering theoretical and empirical knowledge of the nature, characteristics, and volume of art crime as a contemporary security issue in order to acquire the requisite knowledge on the level of scientific description, systematisation and classification, which could be used the prevention and suppression of art crime. Although art crime has had a long history, just as art itself, only a small portion of its broad spectrum has so far been analysed. This is why this study will contribute to a more detailed consideration of the problem of art crime through various aspects, based on the available literature
