Analysis and interpretation of the micromechanical properties measurements of electrodeposited nickel coatings on different substrates

    Get PDF
Fine-grained nickel coatings were electrodeposited by direct current (dc) regime onto different substrates: polycrystalline cold-rolled copper, polycrystalline brass and single crystal (100)-oriented silicon. These composite structures belong to different type of laminated composite systems. The influence of the substrate material and coating plating parameters on microstructural and mechanical properties, such as hardness and adhesion, was characterized by the Vickers microindentation test for different loads. Above critical indentation depth (usually around 10% of the coating thickness), the measured hardness is the so-called “composite hardness”, because the substrate participates in the plastic deformations during indentation. Three composite hardness models (Korsunsky, Chicot-Lesage and Chen-Gao), constructed on different principles, were chosen for fitting the experimental results in order to determine the coating hardness and the critical reduced depth as the adhesion parameter. The coating hardness is mainly influenced by the current density, because increase in current density leads to decrease in grain size and increase in coating hardness. The critical reduced depth as the parameter of adhesion depends on the substrate material

Kun’s The Structure of the Scientific Revolutions triggered the avalanche of criticism and represents the most conducive and most critical work of the sixties, until the eighties of the twentieth century, in which the problems of understanding scientific knowledge are discussed. The development of science was understood as a gradual process during which the stages of normal science and scientific revolutions were being shifted. Boldly, by introducing new concepts in the history of philosophy of science, he has encountered many opponents, but also gained many followers. In this paper, we tried to present Kun’s understanding of the progress in science and criticism of his greatest opponents, with a reference to the scientific revolutions in social sciences. We also tried to answer the question of whether the scientific revolutions have been depleted and what is happening with the objectivity of science.

    No full text
Services distributed over the Internet are ranging from entertaining and informative to those whose availability must not be interrupted because it affects the quality of life, but also safety and health. Due to its importance, the global computer network is a desirable target, attacks are continually taking place, and the damage is more than considerable. Among the many types of attacks, one of the most effective, given the relationship between the damage done and the challenge to be prevented, detect and control, are DDoS attacks. This paper discusses the phases, components, categories, and types of DDoS attacks and emphasizes detection approaches. The standout approach and one that can answer the complexity of detecting DDoS attacks is the classification with artificial intelligence techniques. This work shows why artificial intelligence represents the starting point for further research in information security.International Scientific Conference "Archibald Reiss Days", Belgrade, 18-19 November 202

A Multicriteria Decision Aid-Based Model for Measuring the Efficiency of Business-Friendly Cities

    No full text
Local self-government has the task of enabling stable economic development, in addition to enabling a normal quality of life for citizens. This is why the state government should provide guidelines that will improve the local business climate, and by doing so enable local economic development. This can be done through the introduction of a business-friendly certification procedure, which is influenced by uncertain inputs and influences many output factors. Each local government has the important task of determining its rank of efficiency in this process. A number of methodologies developed to solve this problem are generally divided into two groups: Parametric and non-parametric. These two groups of methodologies could provide quite different results. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to create a model using both approaches to achieve a balanced symmetrical approach that produces better results than each approach individually. For this purpose, the paper describes a multicriteria decision aid-based model of optimization to evaluate the effectiveness of this process, integrating classification, data envelopment analysis, and stochastic frontier analysis, as well as its application in a case study of business-friendly certification in the Republic of Serbia

    No full text
Photography is admitted as one of the widely used methods in criminal investigation which has a significant evidentiary potential, but only if it is made according to special technical and procedural rules. Considering its great value in the collecting and examination of material evidences, in this paper it will be presented the review of application of photography in the process of proving the facts in criminal proceedings. At first, it will be presented the general legal rules on the manner of proving and assessment of the evidence in criminal proceedings, which are decisive in considering photography as evidence. The focus will be on photographs which are used or obtained by conducting evidentiary actions, such as witnesses’ identification and covert surveillance and audio and video recording and photographs which represent technical contribution to other evidentiary actions, such as crime scene investigation. Finally, it will be considered evidentiary action named proving by a record, under which the use of photography as evidence could be subsumed, with reference to relevant cases from the case law in Republic of Serbia.Fotografija je prihvaćena kao jedna od zastupljenijih metoda kriminalističke istrage, koja ima značajni dokazni potencijal ukoliko je sačinjena u skladu sa posebnim tehničkim i procesnim pravilima. Uvažavajući veliki dokazni potencijal fotografije u prikupljanju i oceni materijalnih dokaza, u radu će biti prezentovana moguća upotreba fotografije u postupku dokazivanja činjenica u krivičnom postupku.

The criminal act of murder is considered to be one of the more serious criminal offenses, since the person is deprived of the basic and most important right, and that is the right to life. Psychologists have always shown a great interest in this kind of violent delicts, as well as interpersonal violence in general. Attempting to explain and understand this type of violent behavior, they proceeded, most often, with studying the personality interaction and its sociopsychological environment. On the other hand, by studying the most important modalities of sociodemographic features, in our work, we tried to determine them from an etiological side, the bearers of this criminal activity more precisely, keeping in mind that murder is one of the most difficult forms of interpersonal violence, which is, unfortunately, a part of our everyday lives. The sample included 138 male prisoners aged 24-78 who were serving a prison sentence in Penitentiary Rehabilitation Institutions in Niš, Požarevac, Padinska skela, and Sremska Mitrovica, due to the crimes and killings they had committed. Respondents completed a questionnaire made for research purposes, which collects general sociodemographic data, as well as data related to earlier criminal activity. The results have shown that the majority of killers belong to the age structure of 31 to 40 years and that they were born or have had a place of residence in urban areas. The structure, in terms of social and working status, was diverse, starting from unskilled workers, workers without interest, craftsmen, and technicians of various professions, to private entrepreneurs, engineers, etc. In terms of other sociodemographic characteristics, the results of the survey have shown that they were convicted persons who had completed high school in the largest percentage, that they had been employed before serving the prison sentence, and that they were of a medium socioeconomic status, with about half of the respondents saying that they had incomes higher than the average net salary in Serbia. Regarding criminal activity, the highest percentage of killers had previously been convicted for crimes committed in the field of property delicts, including robbery, as well as violent delicts, including murder. In an attempt to derive some general conclusions on the phenomenological features of homicide, based on sociodemographic characteristics, we are brought back to one of the previously mentioned statements about the significance of psychological and situational factors in the manifestation of criminal behavior. Namely, the ones including age, education, employment, occupation, marital status, economic circumstances. The nature of the place of birth and place of residence can hardly be considered as reliable indicators of an increased risk for participation in the criminal activities of the homicidal population. Nevertheless, this, and other empirical research support the fact that the killers are a heterogeneous population, in a phenomenological sense, with respect to demographic characteristics, and that social features are only the breaking point of several etiological factors
