Corporate Social Responsibility of Commercial Bank in Bangladesh: A Comparative Study on Nationalized and Private Banks
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to strategies corporations or firms conduct their business in a way that is ethical, society friendly and beneficial to community in terms of development. This research analyses the meaning of CSR based on some theories available in literature. CSR is evolving in its meaning and practice. The research discusses the role of CSR in community development. CSR movement has gathered great momentum over the past number of years and is now regarded as being at this most prevalent. CSR is presently one of the most discussed topics. The purpose of the study is to provide deep understanding about CSR benefit, accountability and show steps taken by the government. The study has been taken to observe different CSR areas of nationalized and private commercial banks and its contribution. This study found CSR practices of nationalized and private commercial banks. The study reveals that nationalized and private commercial banks are trying to swell their contribution in accordance with their performance
Importance of Monitoring Mass Tourism for Sustainable Development in Bangladesh
Tourism is a buzzword worldwide at present days. Bangladesh is also a beneficial country like many others in the world since this country is full of potentials with natural resources and tourism industry. Tourism often seems a blessing for the nation. However, mass tourism has both useful and harmful impacts on a country like Bangladesh. Sometimes the rate of negative consequences is higher than the positive ones. Mass tourism brings dangerous results to the local economy, community, culture and environment of a country. However, these dangers can be lessened through proper monitoring, investigation and appropriate interventions of the government as well as other private agencies. This paper explores both the good and bad effects of mass tourism. It also analyzes the significance of effectively monitoring mass tourism so that benefits outweigh the risks
Human Resource Management (HRM) Practices of the Banking Sector inBangladesh: A Study on Private Commercial Bank
The purpose of this study is to find out HRM practices on the private commercial banking sector in Bangladesh. The researches want to examine the human resources management practices in the field of banking sector. It evaluates and compares existing human resources management activities of the employee like; job analysis, human resource planning, talent acquisition, training &development, performance appraisal, compensation, and the industrial relation of nine selective commercial banks. For conducting this research, 100 bank employees are randomly selected from the seven different banks. And out of this 91 employees responses properly; the response rate is 91 percent. The questionnaire consists of individual questions on seven HRM dimensions. The questionnaires were developed by considering five point Liker scale. The collected data were analyzed by applying both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques such as factor analysis and structural equation model (SEM). The SEM results indicated that job analysis, human resource planning, training & development, compensation, and industrial relation significantly and positively associated with overall human resource practices in private commercial banking sectors in Bangladesh.

Determining Bank performance using CAMEL rating: A comparative study on selected Islamic and Conventional Banks in Bangladesh
The present article seeks to examine the determinants of the bank profitability in a developing country like Bangladesh and to compare the performance of Islamic and conventional banks during the period 2008 - 2014. Specifically working within the Bangladeshi financial sector, the analysis is confined to the domestic commercial banks operating in the Bangladeshi financial sector during the period 2008-2014. In order to achieve the study objectives and to answer some questions, the ratio analysis and CAMEL has been used. The study found that the higher capital ratio, Tier-1, and growth in total deposits for Islamic banks than conventional banks. On the other hand, Islamic banks are not able to good perform with ROA, ROE and cost-to-income ratio while conventional banks showed satisfactory performance in utilizing funds which was proved in this analysis as high ROA, ROE and cost-to-income ratio. This study shows that management efficiency regarding operating expenses positively and significantly affects the banks’ profitability.

What Impact does Internet of Things have on Project Management in Project based Firms?
The highest benefit of IT spans through the enabling of personnel to attain their organizational goals. However, acquiring the IT skills that were not aware of in the past will boost and enhance the personnel for greater performance. IoT technology gives understanding from novel data generated and gives solutions. Therefore, allowing organizations to access new strategies via technological innovation will bring about efficiency and productivity with the project lifecycle. However, this project aimed at assessing the impact of IoT on PM in project-based organizations. A qualitative method of investigation was adopted through interviews and discussions with 9 selected respondents. The result shows the benefit and the usefulness of IoT in project-based organizations. This was assessed using the five project management model namely initiating, planning, executing, control and monitoring, and closing. It is established that the impact of IoT can be seen using any of the five stages. Hence, this study identifies the most critical elements of any project-based organization to include people, possessing on personnel and how their impact the invention of project-based organizations
Exploring Pull Factors of Travel Motivation: An Exploratory Study in Sylhet Region
Bangladesh has a massive potential to flourish its tourism sector. As it have spectacular resources to present. This study analyzes the importance level of motivational pull factors that affect tourists’ decision when they chose a destination for tourism. 100 questionnaires were completed using face-to-face and telephone interview to collect pre and post-visit information. Data have gathered from the tourists who visited from outside of Sylhet and also from greater Sylhet Division by structured questionnaires. The study demonstrates that highest importance level gained by the availability of public toilet in the tourist spot (mean value 4.64). Gradual importance is attained from the elements- easily reached and cleanliness of the destination, pleasant and safe accommodation, personal security, prices of different products, availability of hygiene food and beverages, availability of recreation facilities, reasonable rent of accommodation, and shopping facility After examining the post visit opinion found some elements are treated the negative e.g. price of various products (food, drink, handicrafts, etc.), availability of public toilet, availability of different recreation facility (Water Park, sports facility, night life, etc.), and shopping facility. This study has an extensive implication for further research in tourism
A Study of Employee Welfare Leading to Corporate Sustainability in Garments Industries of Bangladesh
Employee welfare is an area of social welfare, which covers a broad field of Corporate Sustainability and connotes a state of well-being, happiness, satisfaction, conservation and development of human resources. Evidences from contemporary literature suggest that employee welfare contributes to the sustainability of the business significantly. This paper is based on descriptive and inferential research. This study has tried to measure the extent to which the garments industries in Chittagong city of Bangladesh are providing their employees (plant level) with welfare facilities. The findings of this study suggests that most of the sample farms offer welfare benefits to their employees and such benefits have improved the productivity and sustainability of the business. The study also opens avenue for further research in this field considering employee welfare reporting as a tool for corporate sustainability in the developing counties
Socio-economic impact of CSR activities of an Islamic Banking: A Case of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited
This paper examines the practices and driving philosophy of corporate social responsibility (CSR) by Islami Bank in Bangladesh and to evaluate the need to modify CSR program of the organization to enhance its effectiveness. The purpose of the paper is to study the underlying drivers of the CSR program undertaken by the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and to explore if the CSR activities are planned as a holistic approach to social development. This study covers a period of 5 years ranging from 2010 – 2014 using secondary data from annual reports of the bank, relevant articles, websites, Bangladesh Bank publications, newspaper, journal and magazines. This study found that the Islami Bank Bangladesh had linked its CSR program as core business strategy to grow business with shared prosperity with its surrounding community. However, it has the improvement opportunity to create a synergy by bundling all its CSR activities as a holistic program. If appropriately planned, such program will promote self-sufficiency, create new jobs and enable economic development under alternative livelihood program as suitable in the locality.

An Understanding of the Islamic Banking Industry from Customers’ Perspective
During the last decade, conventional banks faced stiff competition from Islamic bank. The main purpose of the study is to find out the customers’ perspective on Islamic banking in Bangladesh. The study was based on both primary and secondary data. For collecting primary data, a questionnaire survey was conducted among Islamic banks’ customers. Selection of respondents was based on random sampling as well as the convenient sampling method. Customer opinions were measured by a 5-point Likert scale. Customers’ perspectives have been measured with respect to various aspects (service quality, profit rate, service charge, internet banking, employee proficiency, etc.). Findings of the study reveal that the respondents think positively about almost all aspects of the Islamic bank.

Role of Microcredit on the Education: A Study on NGOs in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a pioneer of the conceptualizing micro-credit program. It has undertaken some such programs to reduce poverty and bring about socio-economic changes in the rural community. Among them, microcredit plays vital role in promoting education. So micro-credit is considered as vital tools to promote the education and reduce drop out. Presently Microfinance popularly known as micro-credit. Now there are many types of microcredit organizations, we can see throughout the country. The common micro-credit institutions are GB, BRAC, ASA. This study explores the role of micro credits on the education, who had acquired micro credits from different microcredit organizations. Primary research was carried out with the help of a major NGO’s who give loan for education. Two hundred in-depth personal interviews were conducted by the author Roy, I. and Biswas, P. from February to August 2015. Most of the developing countries like Bangladesh; people are poor especially in the rural areas people who are unable to send their children to school. Though Bangladesh Government provides some reading and writing materials to all level of students throughout the Bangladeshi students. But it is not sufficient, and it can’t motivate parents to send their children school. Because of the high cost of education parents are discouraged to educate their children. In such a situation some major microcredit institutions provide money for their children education who is the member of these institutions. They sometimes provide money without any condition or sometimes conditionally. Such major micro-credit organizations are GB, BRAC, and ASA.
