Global Oil Price and Its Economic Impact in Bangladesh
This paper highlighted the plummeting price of oil that is at present the most sensational energy story in the world. This research work outlined the main reasons for the current situation is the low demand for oil as well as concerned companies found it more profitable to extract oil by unconventional methods. In Bangladesh, no changes have been made in the oil price. By figure, at present (June 2017) BPC (Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation) is making profit of Tk 13.77 per liter of Kerosene, of Tk 14.68 per liter of Diesel, of Tk 19.57 per liter of Furnace oil and of Tk 18.75 per liter of jet fuel oil where the very latest world crude oil price come down $ 35.62. The present study is done to make the overview of the world oil prices and Bangladesh as well using purely secondary data collected mostly from newspaper reports, websites, magazines, journals, periodic, reviews and various published data. This study also investigates the impact of the sharp fall oil price to the economy of Bangladesh. In the study, there is seen negatively correlation with the oil price of the world and that of Bangladesh. This paper will be useful to the all stakeholders even policy makers to take proper initiatives for the adjustment of the plummeting oil price of the world. This present study may disseminate that the BPC, as the government-sponsored firm, cannot make the maximum profit as like the Monopoly Company in Bangladesh, so, the retail consumer may give the benefits of the adjustment with the sharp oil price fall in the world

Export is one of the major components of global business which secures a country\u27s economic condition to a large extent. Developed as well as developing countries always try to increase their exports for the growth and expansion of their economies. The Role of Asset Management, Operational Efficiency and Expense Management on the Performance of Commercial Banks in Bangladesh
The performance of the banks depends on some bank-specific factors. This paper set out to investigate the influence of asset management, operational efficiency and expense management on the financial performance of five commercial banks in Bangladesh for the period of 2011-2015. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression techniques were applied to find out the ultimate results. The empirical study suggested that operational efficiency had a positive effect on the dependent variables return on asset (ROA), and return on equity (ROE), but expense management was negatively related to the both indicators. On the other hand, asset management was positively related to ROA but negatively related to ROE. In addition, the regression results summed up that the changes in the performance of commercial banks could explain by bank-specific factors selected for the study
Applications and Practices of Big Data for Development
Daily, vast volumes of public data are generated due to the expansion of social media sites, digital computing devices, and Internet connectivity. Effective data analysis techniques/algorithms can provide near real-time knowledge regarding emerging patterns and early warning in case of an emergency (such as the outbreak of a viral disease). These data can also disclose several helpful indicators of socioeconomic and political events that can assist formulate effective public policy. This study examines the use of big data analytics for human development. As big data technology matures, it will be possible to use it for development purposes, such as addressing humanitarian crises or violent conflicts. The large-scale use of big data for development is fraught with obstacles due to its huge quantity, rapid change, and diversity. The most urgent challenges are effective data collection and exchange, providing context (e.g., geolocation and time), and ensuring data accuracy and privacy. This study reviews existing big data for development studies to assess the impact of big data on society\u27s development. We examine major efforts while also highlighting obstacles and unresolved issues
Factors Influencing Selection of Container Shipping Lines in Pakistan – A Logistics Perspective
The purpose of this study is to understand the most influential factors affecting the selection of container shipping lines in Karachi, Pakistan and to assist shipping lines to formulate their strategies and long-term goals in accordance with key influential factors. Reliability, transport cost, responsiveness sand IT orientation and communication are the key influential factors in selection of container shipping lines. An online survey was conducted to acquire responses from shipping line customers i.e. freight forwarders, exporters, manufacturers etc. Questionnaires were sent to 350 individuals who have clear responsibility of selecting container shipping line based on their preferences and logistics requirement. Out of these 350 respondents, 150 usable responses were received having a response rate of 44%. Data was analyzed by using SPSS Statistics. Multiple regression tests were run to analyze the significance of influential factors on the selection of container shipping lines. Reliability test was also executed to indicate significance
A Study on the Performance of Private Non-Life Insurance Companies in Bangladesh
Insurance becomes an essential part of every economic system. In Bangladesh, insurance industry plays an important role in economic progress. This study aims at determining the performance of private non-life insurance industry in Bangladesh. For the analysis, researchers selected five private non-life insurance companies and used the financial statements of the companies for the year 2012-2014 as a secondary source of data. Seven variables were selected to analyze the performances which were total asset, investment, net premium, profit after tax, total insurance policy, earnings per share (EPS) and return on asset (ROA). Growth rate, trend equations and square of correlation coefficient (r2) were tested in respect of these variables. All the companies had a positive trend equations and the r2 of the variables were above 0.50. The result indicates that the non-life insurance industry has a great prospect in Bangladesh
Impact of Internal Factors on the Profitability of Banks: A Case of Commercial Banks in Bangladesh
The internal factors of the bank have a great influence on the profitability of the banks. This study is an effort to disclose the effect of bank’s internal factors on return on equity (ROE), return on asset (ROA), and net interest margin (NIM) of ten selected commercial banks in Bangladesh for the period of 2011-2015. Researchers used descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis as statistics tools to find out the results. The findings from descriptive statistics indicate that Eastern Bank Limited was ranked first regarding profitability. The correlation test found that total equity to total asset ratio (TETA) and cost to income ratio (CIR) significantly affects the ROA whereas loan to deposit ratio had significant positive effect on the NIM of the banks. The regression analysis revealed that the independent variables of the banks were significant enough to explain the variation of the dependent variables (ROA, ROE, and NIM) of the study.

Impact of Shipping Knowledge and Absorptive Capacity on Logistical Value of 3PL Firms in Pakistan
The purpose of this paper is to identify & examine what types of shipping knowledge are critical to surviving in the dynamic business environment, and to investigate how the shipping knowledge affects the organizational performance. It also studies the effect of shipping knowledge and its absorptive capacity on the logistical value creation for customer satisfaction. An online survey was conducted to acquire responses from shipping companies such as freight forwarders, vessel liners, and logistic companies. Multiple regression tests were run to analyze the significance of shipping knowledge and its absorptive capacity for the creation of logistical value to provide end to end solution to the customer. The reliability test was executed, and the findings indicated that a high level of shipping knowledge has a positive impact on the logistical value of shipping companies. This study will enable 3PL firms to stay competitive in the market coping up with the rapid changes and tapping on to the untouched doors of some of the leading brands / customers in Pakistan with a variety of solutions
Application of Artificial Intelligence in Contemporary Business: An Analysis for Content Management System Optimization

Using artificial intelligence platforms, one can collect a considerable amount of data from government and public sites or real-time monitoring and collection of different data using IoT (Internet of Things) and then use it to empower business people to solve all their business problems. This research helps business people worldwide improve their business techniques. This paper uses the waterfall technique to develop and build an intelligent system by sequentially collecting data, analyzing requirements, planning, coding, testing, and implementing. This system can also generate ideas for managing common challenges in farm information systems, improving policy programs, augmentation and analysis, and managing production data. Finally, management information systems are analyzed, and suggestions for further development are made
