This conversation sheds new light on the hitherto unknown or little known facts about Tihamér Vujicsics’s/Tihomir Vujičić’s influence on the practical work of reviving traditional music of South Slavs in Hungary, during and after his life. Gábor Eredics, one of the most prominent traditional music performers in Hungary and director of the famous Vujicsics Ensemble from Szentendre, named after the respected Serbian researcher and composer, writes about the connections between Tihamér Vujicsics and the Ensemble members from the early days of their acquaintance. He also touches upon the general motivation for safeguarding traditional music, the significance of traditional music notations and audio recordings that Tihamér Vujicsics made, and the pedagogical aspect of performing traditional music, significantly influenced by methods and directions given by Tihamér Vujicsics himself.
The Library of the Institute for Musicology of the SASA
The Insitute for Musicology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) was established
to collect, systematise, keep and scientifically deal with diverse musical material related
to the research of the national musical past and tradition, both folkloristic and artistic. At the
same time, it is one of the few institutions in Serbia dealing with the research of musical cultural
heritage. Part of the Institute is the library. It is an independent organisational unit with
rich collections and aims to help and support its associates’ research. The paper presents data
on the establishment and history of the Institute and the library, as well as the library’s diverse
collections and particular specificities in its organisation
The Serbian Cultural Concept ДОМОВИНА (Homeland) and Its Relationship in the Conceptual Sphere with ДРЖАВА (State) and НАРОД (Nation/People)
This study presents the holistic picture of the Serbian cultural concept domovina / otaЏ bina (homeland) within the conceptual space that it shares with država
(state) and НАРОД (nation/people). In order to analyse the structure, characteristics,
and values of that concept, as well as its links with related concepts, the methodology
of Lublin Ethnolinguistic School was used, with its tripartite focus on the data from
the language system, texts, and questionnaires. It appears that the cultural concept
domovina is dynamic: it undergoes historical, social, and cultural transformations but is
nevertheless strictly connected with the felling of belonging and collective identity. Finally,
a cognitive definition of the cultural concept domovina is proposed.W artykule zaprezentowano całościowy obraz świata konceptu domovina
(ojczyzna) / otaЏ bina (ojczyzna) w języku serbskim w kontekście jednego obszaru
pojęciowego z konceptami država (państwo) i narod (lud).
leżności do wspólnoty i z tożsamością zbiorową. Na koniec podano syntetyczną definicję
kognitywną tego konceptu
The Nedić Regime in Occupied Serbia Conflicting Loyalties and Aims
When Axis forces invaded Yugoslavia in April 1941, the interwar Yugoslav Kingdom did not put up much of a fight. On its ruins emerged the new Serbian state, which was still mostly governed by German military administration. Civil matters were given over to a collaborationist government first led by interwar police chief Milan Aćimović and later by Army General and former Minister of Defence Milan Nedić. Within the regime there existed several distinct factions that fought for power: radical members of the fascist movement Zbor, members of the former ruling right-wing authoritarian Yugoslav Radical Union, the “officer clique”, and others. The aim of this chapter is to highlight the different factions within the regime, their internal struggles for power and the approval of the Germans, and the limited social, cultural and political reforms they attempted to enact. This chapter will be based on Serbian and German archival sources and relevant literature

Saint Sava’s Athonite Days
Sava visited Mount Athos on four occasions: the first time for nearly fifteen years, the second time for about four years, and the last two times briefly–once on his return from Nicaea, where he had been ordained the first Archbishop of the Serbian Church, and later, upon returning from his first pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He first set foot on Athonite soil in 1192/93, as Rastko, a seventeen-year-old youth devoted to God. As the former governor of the Hum region, Rastko brought with him money, which he distributed among the monasteries of Russikon and Vatopedi. He entered the latter monastery soon after arriving on Mount Athos–on March 25, 1193, the Feast of the Annunciation–and there he received monastic tonsure from Abbot Theostiriktos, taking the name Sava
“Birjan Weddings”: The Elimination of Alcohol from Bosniak Wedding Celebrations in Novi Pazar
privatnog života (načina oblačenja, ishrane, organizacije porodičnih i društvenih okupljanja, obreda).
uključujući i svadbene.
predstavlja prostor preplitanja lokalne tradicije, religijskog identiteta i širih društvenih
procesa. The revitalization of Islam that has taken place in Novi Pazar over the past
several decades represents a process with significant social and cultural consequences. Beyond the level of personal religiosity and religious practice, this process has become visible in various spheres of public and private life, including modes of dress,
dietary practices, the organization of family and social gatherings, and ritual observances. These changes have had a particularly strong impact on the transformation of
private celebrations, including wedding ceremonies. One of the consequences of these
shifts has been the gradual removal of alcohol from wedding festivities, affecting not
only the selection of beverages but also the form and duration of the celebration, the
overall atmosphere of the event, and the ways in which weddings are perceived within the community today. This paper is based on ethnographic material collected in
Novi Pazar during 2023 and 2024, and its aim is to demonstrate how contemporary
weddings function as a space in which local tradition, religious identity, and broader
social processes intersect. The omission of alcohol from these celebrations is identified
as an important indicator of deeper social transformations shaping the identity of the

Managing “extended youth” in Serbia: agency in “stuckedness”
According to academic studies, many young people worldwide face difficulties transitioning to adulthood and achieving independence. While they are legally, politically, and psychologically considered adults, their dependence on their parents is “prolonged” due to the extended education process, challenges in the labor market, insufficient earnings, insecurities, feelings of marginality, and a lack of a clear perspective in the future. They are neither adolescents nor fully independent adults, yet “stuck” in the liminal spaces, phases, and roles. Their liminal status and dependency are often described with terms such as young adults, twixters, kidults, adultolescents, and thresholders, or mockingly: freeters and parasaito shinguru (parasite singles) in Japan, bamboccioni (big dummy boys) in Italy, belataklifi (without the purpose) in Iran. In some European countries, the experience of “stuckedness” due to insufficient earnings is reflected in terms that directly refer to low salaries in euros: Mileurista in Spain, Millieuristi or Generazione 1000 Euros in Italy, and G700 in Greece. The economic and residential dependency of young people in Serbia is more the norm than the exception. This presentation examines the phenomenon of “extended youth” within the context of post-socialism and socio-political transition, 19 Youth participation, agency and ‘voice’ with particular attention to the influence of “cultural logic,” cultural meanings, and cultural representations. Drawing on qualitative field research conducted in Belgrade from August 2019 to November 2020 among employed young people and their parents, this presentation explores the “stuckedness” of the “inbetween” space and time. By examining cultural representations of co-residency and perceived alternatives, the presentation explores the capacity of interlocutors to act independently and make choices within “stuckedness”. It emphasizes the agency of young adults who are “actively stuck”, and offers a new perspective on “extended youth” as a strategy, with parental homes functioning as waiting rooms for future independence
