Језички ставови из перспективе интерсекционалности: рањиви језици и језички варијетети у Србији
This paper investigates the attitudes of members of vulnerable linguistic communities in Serbia towards their own languages. Based on the results of a quantitative survey carried out in 2023, the authors assess the attitudes of speakers of vulnerable languages towards the maintenance and revitalisation of their languages, including transmission to the younger generations and their introduction in the school system, and discuss their feelings regarding speaking the language with the members of the community and outside the community. Finally, they examine the correlation between the aforementioned variables and a series of demographic factors to determine whether there are any statistically significant relations between them. The research shows that the majority of speakers of vulnerable languages in Serbia show positive attitudes towards their language, regardless of gender in most of the cases. On the other hand, the variable ‘language of the community’ is correlated with all other variables, while the variables ‘age’ and ‘education level’ correlate with some of the aforementioned attitudes and emotions. This is partially in line with what has been recently termed an attitude shift by sociolinguists, a change in ideology implying positive attitudes towards one’s own endangered language, a phenomenon observed in several endangered language contexts worldwide

Aleksandra Djurić Milovanović, The Untold Story of the Nazarene Emigration from Yugoslavia to North America. Lanham, MD, USA: Lexington Books, 2024, 131 p.
In her new book, Dr. Aleksandra Djurić
Milovanović tells the heretofore untold
story of the Nazarene emigration from
Yugoslavia to North America. The word
untold is indeed quite fitting to describe
the recent contribution of Serbian scholars
to the history of the Nazarenes over
the last two decades.
The first two chapters of the book
orient readers to the historical origins
and emergence of the Nazarene movement
in its 19th-century European context.
Chapter 1 succinctly narrates the
emergence
of this new radical, renewalist,
Neo-Protestant and specifically Neo-
Anabaptist
movement in Switzerland
and the German-speaking world under
the charismatic leadership of its founder,
preacher Samuel Heinrich Frohlich.
Chapter 2 examines the appeal of the
movement as it spread into the multicultural
and multi-lingual context of the
Austro-Hungarian Empire
Strength comparison for fully dense zirconium diboride ceramics tested by different methods
The strength of zirconium diboride ceramics was tested by three different methods, 3-point flexure, 4-point flexure, and compression. Nearly full-density ceramics were obtained by hot pressing commercial ZrB2 powder with the addition of .5 wt.% carbon as a sintering aid. The thermal properties and hardness were studied for ZrB2 milled with ZrB2 and WC media. Based on phase purity and higher thermal conductivity, ZrB2 ceramics prepared from powders milled with ZrB2 media were selected for mechanical property studies. The strength in 3-point flexure was 546 ± 55 MPa. The flexure strength was 476 ± 41 MPa in 4-point bending, which was ∼20% higher than the previously reported value of 398 MPa for ZrB2 with similar grain sizes due to higher relative density and lower impurity contents. Compression testing was performed at room temperature, and the strength was 1110 ± 358 MPa. Finally, the fracture toughness of pure ZrB2 ceramics was determined by the chevron-notched beam method to be 3.6 ± .7 MPa m1/2. The strength and fracture toughness values are higher than those previously published for ZrB2 ceramics and can be attributed to higher density and lower grain size. The strength-limiting flaw sizes were comparable to the grain size, suggesting that porosity and impurity phases did not play a significant role in the strength of these ceramics
Unraveling the Role of F-Type Color Centers on the Optical and Electrical Properties of Al2W3O12 Nanoparticles with Different Content of Oxygen Vacancies
Identification and tuning of defects in nanomaterials are critical to the advancement of emerging technologies. In this work, F-type color centers in Al2W3O12 nanopowders, formed via extrinsic oxygen vacancies, were comprehensively studied for the first time. By correlating photoluminescence (PL), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), the types of F color centers were identified, unraveling their influence on the optical and electrical properties of Al2W3O12 nanopowders. EPR coupled with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) demonstrated that the formation of F-type color centers in Al2W3O12 nanopowders is mainly generated by an electronic charge compensation process. Our experimental findings highlighted that the increased concentration of F and F+ color centers, present in the heat-treated Al2W3O12 nanopowders under inert and reducing atmospheres, contributed to enhanced visible light sensitivity and higher electrical conductivity due to the introduction of intermediate energy levels within the band gap by the F-type color centers, the contribution of free electrons from the formation of F+ color centers, and the excitation of trapped electrons in the F+ and F color centers to the conduction band. These findings provide new insights into the creation and tuning of F-type color centers in nanomaterials, potentially enabling applications in advanced technological devices
Progress in SR-ELEXIS Semantic Annotation: Focusing on Multiword Expressions, Named Entities, and Sense Repository : POSTER
ELEXIS-WSD is a parallel sense-annotated corpus
in which content words (nouns, adjectives, verbs,
and adverbs) have been assigned senses for 10
languages. The list of sense inventories is based
depending on a language either on WordNet, Wiktionary,
or some national digital dictionary (Federico
et al., 2021). We started developing the senseannotated
corpus for Serbian that would be compatible
with ELEXIS-WSD. This work is done in
the scope of WG2.T2 (Barbu Mititelu et al., 2024)
of the UniDive COST action (Savary et al., 2024);
the first results of this endeavor were presented
in (Krstev et al., 2024a,b). Figure 1 presents the
progress in achieving our goal while the following
sections give reasons why some tasks took considerable

Perception and Comprehension of Yugoslav Culture Among Youth. The Case of Serbian Students
In this article, we investigate how students view socialist memorial culture. Why is it significant? For several decades, Yugoslavia is no longer a country. Only recollections of the socialist era in pictures, stories, narratives, and memories remain. Despite the bureaucratic management referred to as «soft socialism» in Yugoslavia, there was still clear state control over the cultural policy. This made memorial culture a key component of the socialist enlightenment. Even now, it may be seen in the former republic’s public areas. The portrayal of exalted political and social principles aided the development of national identity and spirit through the construction of visible monuments. The importance of memorial culture and cultural memory has increased recently. Our research is grounded in collective and cultural memory theories. Older generations, born before and after WWII, can express opinions on these as they were part of their personal experience. They remember first-hand the socialist times. How about the younger generations, though? What about students from Serbia? How do they view the legacy of Yugoslav culture? Even if they were born after Yugoslavia’s dissolution, it’s crucial to understand how they relate to socialist memorials and how they react to the same as represented in the media these days. What do they think of the modern tendencies of reviving monuments and memories through various visualizations, exhibitions, events, and platforms (like the MoMA exhibition, «Spomeniks» initiative and digital media influencing)? This paper will address these questions using qualitative and quantitative research techniques
Internally displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohija on the territory of the municipality of Aleksinac: circumstances and problems
"Fendi, Gucci, Louis, Prada":
