Haveri kapitalizmus az USA-ban
A haveri kapitalizmus („crony capitalism” vagy „cronyism”)) a Wikipédia egyszerű megfogalmazása szerint „a politikai közbeszédben használt pejoratív kifejezés, amely olyan helyzetet ír le, amelyben a vállalkozások az államhatalommal való szoros kapcsolatból profitálnak, akár versenyellenes szabályozási környezet, akár közvetlen kormányzati támogatás és/vagy korrupció révén.” [1] Kissé részletesebben: „a haveri kapitalizmusra olyan rendszer, amelyben a politikai hatalomhoz közel álló, a politikát kialakító és végrehajtó személyek nagy gazdasági értékkel bíró szívességeket kapnak. Ezek a kedvezmények lehetővé teszik, hogy a politikai kapcsolatokkal rendelkező gazdasági szereplők magasabb hozamot érjenek el, mint ami egy olyan gazdaságban érvényesülne, ahol a termelési tényezők piaci árait alkalmazzák. Gyakran a termelési tényező, amelyet olcsón biztosítanak a haveroknak, a tőke. (Haber, 2002: xii) Nagyon egyszerűen fogalmazva: „A haveri kapitalizmus más néven járadékvadászat.” (Rubin, 2016: 106
A könyvvizsgálat minőségének előrejelzése
Debate : Conditionality as a rule-of-law instrument - A perspective from Hungary
Conditionality, in the context of European Union (EU) policies, is a policy instrument linking ‘the granting of certain benefits, especially financial aid, with the implementation of specific policies and reforms or the fulfilment of concrete conditions’ (Becker, 2025, p. 402). This subject has attracted significant academic attention, particularly since the accession wave of the 2000s. Similarly, there is ample and rapidly growing scholarship on the threats to the EU’s fundamental values, including principles of democracy and the rule of law in different EU member states, and the policy responses to these problems. In this context, the term ‘rule of law’ (RoL) refers to such values as legality, legal certainty, prohibition of arbitrariness, independent and impartial courts, and respect for fundamental rights (Beqiraj & Moxham, 2022). In a broader sense, however, it is inseparable from ‘the values of democracy and fundamental rights’ (European Union, 2014, p. 3)

Isometric rigidity of the Wasserstein space over the plane with the maximum metric
We study p -Wasserstein spaces over the branching spaces and equipped with the maximum norm metric. We show that these spaces are isometrically rigid for all meaning that all isometries of these spaces are induced by isometries of the underlying space via the push-forward operation. This is in contrast to the case of the Euclidean metric since with that distance the -Wasserstein space over is not rigid. Also, we highlight that the -Wasserstein space is not rigid over the closed interval , while according to our result, its two-dimensional analog, the closed unit ball with the more complicated geodesic structure is rigid
Digital Transformation of Public Services : The Case of the Document Management Application
The article examines digital transformation in the public sector, focusing on its implementation and impact. A key milestone in Hungary’s municipal digitalization is analyzed through a case study on the document management system of the Application Service Provider. Based on longitudinal data from over 3,000 municipalities, findings show that digital transformation delivers significant value to citizens and shortens administrative lead times. It enhances transparency, comparability, and efficiency in public administration. The study also emphasizes that adopting new technologies, standardizing processes, and centralizing IT management are critical factors in achieving these efficiency gains and modernizing public sector operations
The Phoenix Effect – Rising from crisis through digital collaboration – How crisis affects social enterprises’ digitalization for value co-creation?
Crisis and market turbulence can cause changes in digitalization and value co-creation of social enterprises. This paper aims to identify how crisis and market turbulence affect the way social enterprises employ digitalization to enable value co-creation. To achieve this, the authors conduct Retrospective Case Studies by interviewing ten social entrepreneurs from developing countries and synthesizing their findings from primary and secondary data. Their findings reveal that social enterprises that use digital collaboration can be more resilient in the face of crises. Simultaneously, crisis affects how social enterprises use digitalization for collaboration through new phenomena which they call Crisis-Resilient Digital Ecosystem, Transformative Resilience Network, and Synergistic Economic Resilience. Finally, the authors propose the Interconnected Resilience Framework to illustrate the relationship between market turbulence and social entrepreneurship’s digital collaboration. This model and event-ordered matrix represent the main theoretical contributions to the literature on social entrepreneurship and crisis
Bah, Abu Bakarr and Emmanuel Nikolas (2024), International Statebuilding in West Africa: Civil Wars and New Humanitarianism in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire, Bloomington, IN: Indiana University Press, ISBN 978-0-253-07064-7 (e-Book)
The building of functional states in Africa remains a challenge, this we know. The continent has experienced numerous civil wars in the post-colonial era, often driven by societal divisions and ethnic grievances. However, Bah and Emmanuel argue that these civil conflicts are not the fundamental issues facing the African state but rather symptoms of a deeper problem of statehood
Lending by Algorithm: Fair or Flawe? : An Information-Theoretic View of Credit Decision Pipelines
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly embedded in financial decision-making, questions of fairness, transparency, and trust have taken center stage, particularly in high-stakes domains like credit allocation. This study investigates the use of AI-based credit scoring for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), combining algorithmic performance analysis with behavioral insights from affected users. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, we train and evaluate a random forest classifier on a US dataset of 5000 anonymized loan applications, achieving an AUC of 0.998 and simulating real-world lending conditions. Fairness diagnostics reveal that approval rates differ significantly by education level, with low-education applicants approved at a rate three times lower than those with advanced degrees, despite similar false positive rates across groups. We frame the decision pipeline as an information-processing system and consider how algorithmic scoring may distort or reduce informational signals relevant to perceived fairness. To contextualize these findings, we conduct twelve semi-structured interviews with SME owners and financial managers in the United States and United Kingdom, coded using the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, Behavior (COM-B) framework. While the model privileges structural features such as income and digital banking activity, indicators of “capability”, participants place greater emphasis on behavioral cues such as payment reliability and business resilience. A triangulated analysis reveals a stark misalignment between what the algorithm recognizes and what users perceive as fair or valid. Our findings advance the discourse on AI ethics by demonstrating that statistical fairness does not guarantee experiential fairness. We advocate for the integration of behavioral indicators into credit models and call for policy reforms that address the socio-technical gaps in automated finance. While the model demonstrates high predictive performance (AUC ~ 0.998), this result should be interpreted cautiously given the constrained, anonymized dataset lacking demographic attributes such as gender and race. Consequently, intersectional fairness could not be evaluated, and findings primarily reflect lending contexts within advanced economies
