Diagnostic And Therapeutic Principles of Agadatantra in Ashtanga Samgraha: An Underexplored Treasure of Ayurvedic Toxicology
Background: Agadatantra, a vital branch of Ayurveda, deals with the diagnosis and treatment of poisoning from natural and artificial sources. While Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas have been extensively studied in this context, Ashtanga Samgraha by Acharya Vagbhata remains relatively underexplored, despite its concise and clinically valuable content in the Uttarasthana section. This text presents a structured, applicable, and ethically sound approach to Ayurvedic toxicology. Objectives: To explore the diagnostic indicators, poison classifications, therapeutic strategies, and ethical imperatives outlined in Ashtanga Samgraha under the discipline of Agadatantra, and to highlight its practical relevance in contemporary Ayurvedic education and clinical practice. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive literary research study based on a critical review of Ashtanga Samgraha, especially the Uttarasthana. Comparative analysis was done with Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita, along with supportive review from classical commentaries and contemporary Ayurvedic toxicology literature. Results: Ashtanga Samgraha provides a simplified yet comprehensive diagnostic framework through its classification of poisons (Sthavara, Jangama, Krutrima), detailed symptomatology (Vishalakshana), and clear therapeutic guidelines, including Agada Yogas and Panchakarma interventions. It also addresses seasonal variations, physician responsibilities, and preventive care, making it a practical guide for both learners and clinicians. Conclusion: Acharya Vagbhata’s Ashtanga Samgraha is a systematically structured yet underutilized text in Agadatantra. Its diagnostic precision, therapeutic clarity, and ethical emphasis make it a valuable addition to the Ayurvedic toxicological corpus. Its integration into mainstream Ayurvedic curriculum can enhance both clinical competency and academic depth
Alveolar Bone Remodeling After Micro-Osteoperforations Vs. Flapless Corticotomy: A Randomized CBCT Study
Background: Orthodontic treatment often entails prolonged durations, a significant concern for many patients. To address this, accelerated orthodontic techniques, such as micro-osteoperforations (MOPs) and flapless corticotomy, have emerged. These methods aim to stimulate alveolar bone remodeling, primarily by inducing the Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon (RAP), thereby expediting tooth movement. Despite their increasing popularity, the precise and comparative effects of these interventions on quantitative alveolar bone morphology and density remain inconsistently reported in the existing literature.
Objective: This randomized controlled trial aimed to quantitatively compare the effects of micro-osteoperforations versus flapless piezocision on alveolar bone remodeling, specifically assessing changes in buccal alveolar bone thickness, bone density, and the incidence of dehiscence and fenestration, using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in adult orthodontic patients.
Methods: This study was designed as a prospective, parallel-group, single-center randomized controlled clinical trial. Twenty-four adult participants requiring fixed orthodontic treatment with premolar extractions were randomly allocated to either the MOP group (n=12) or the flapless piezocision (FP) group (n=12). In the MOP group, three perforations (1.5 mm width, 3 mm depth) were created using a Propel device. In the FP group, vertical buccal incisions were made with a piezosurgical knife, followed by a 3 mm depth corticotomy. CBCT scans were acquired at baseline (T0) and 6 months post-intervention (T1). Specialized 3D imaging software (Mimics®) was used for quantitative assessment of buccal alveolar bone thickness (at coronal, mid-root, and apical levels), alveolar bone density (in Hounsfield Units), and the presence of dehiscence and fenestration. Statistical analysis included paired and independent samples t-tests, and Chi-square tests.
Results: Both interventions significantly accelerated tooth movement. In terms of buccal alveolar bone thickness, both groups showed a statistically significant increase at the coronal and mid-root levels (P < 0.05), with the flapless piezocision group demonstrating a significantly greater increase at the coronal level compared to the MOP group (P = 0.009). Alveolar bone density showed a non-significant reduction in the MOP group and a non-significant change in the FP group, with no statistically significant difference observed between the two groups (P = 0.15). No new cases of alveolar dehiscence or fenestration were observed in either group at 6 months post-intervention.
Conclusion: Both micro-osteoperforations and flapless piezocision are effective in promoting favorable alveolar bone remodeling, characterized by an increase in buccal alveolar bone thickness, without significantly compromising bone density or increasing the incidence of dehiscence and fenestration. Flapless piezocision demonstrated a quantitatively superior effect on coronal bone thickness. These minimally invasive techniques serve as valuable adjuncts to accelerate orthodontic treatment while maintaining periodontal health
The Road To Eradication: Studying Punjab\u27s Approach Towards Injecting Drug Abuse
The issue of injecting drug usage in Punjab needs a multidimensional strategy to confront the nuances of addiction and public health. This study examines Punjab\u27s strategies for combating injectable drug use, highlighting the effectiveness of Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) and de-addiction initiatives. Punjab faces significant challenges in addressing substance abuse, with around 230,000 individuals addicted to opioids. The government\u27s Standard Operating Procedures for de-addiction centers put limits on things like how long people can take buprenorphine-naloxone home, which makes Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) less effective. The state needs a full plan to deal with the problem of drug use in Punjab. This study concentrates on strategies to combat injecting drug use, including prevention, treatment, and harm reduction. Along with this study, write down the policies and activities that the Punjab government has taken. To look into how Punjab is dealing with those who use injectable drugs, focusing on prevention, treatment, and reducing the harm. This further assesses the impact of these strategies on the prevalence of injecting drug usage in Punjab. The report ultimately provides suggestions and recommendations for improving Punjab\u27s strategy to address injectable drug misuse.
 
“Role Of Samhita Siddhant In Developing Research Methodology In Ayurveda”
Background: Ayurveda, as a knowledge system, is deeply rooted in the principles laid down in the Samhitas. The Samhita Siddhant provides the philosophical and methodological foundation for observation, inference, and application in health sciences. In the modern era, research methodology requires systematic frameworks, and the timeless principles of Samhita Siddhant can serve as guiding pillars. Exploring these principles helps bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary research practices. Objectives: To study the role of Samhita Siddhant in formulating research methodology in Ayurveda. To analyze classical references from Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya in relation to research design. To highlight the applicability of Samhita Siddhant in hypothesis formation, data interpretation, and validation of results. Methods: This is a conceptual literary research based on textual analysis of Ayurvedic classical texts including Brihattrayi and Laghutrayi. Supplementary references were taken from commentaries, contemporary Ayurvedic research publications, and modern texts on research methodology. The principles such as Pratyaksha, Anumana, Aaptopadesha, and Yukti were critically examined and correlated with modern research approaches such as observation, hypothesis, experimentation, and statistical inference. Results: The study reveals that Samhita Siddhant provides a comprehensive framework for research methodology. Principles like Trisutra (Hetu, Linga, Aushadha) resemble the modern process of identifying cause, symptoms, and intervention. Anumana parallels inductive reasoning, while Yukti aligns with experimental design and multifactorial analysis. Ethical considerations, reproducibility of results, and systematic validation also find roots in the classical teachings. Thus, the integration of Samhita Siddhant enhances both authenticity and relevance of Ayurvedic research in the modern context. Conclusion: Samhita Siddhant is not only a philosophical foundation but also a methodological guide for research in Ayurveda. Its structured principles can be harmonized with modern scientific protocols to create a robust, evidence-based Ayurvedic research methodology. Recognizing and applying these classical insights can strengthen Ayurveda’s contribution to global health research
The Effect of Plyometric and Sprint Drills on Motor Coordination and Reaction Time in Competitive College Athletes
This study examined the effects of structured plyometric and sprint training interventions on motor coordination and reaction time in competitive college athletes. A total of 84 Division II college athletes (42 males, 42 females) from track and field, basketball, and soccer programs were randomly assigned to three groups (n=28 per group): Group A received combined plyometric and sprint training, Group B performed plyometric training only, and Group C served as an active control group with standard conditioning. The 12-week intervention was implemented during the off-season training period, with sessions conducted three times weekly.
Pre- and post-intervention assessments measured motor coordination using the Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder (KTK) adapted for adults, simple and choice reaction times using computerized testing systems, and sport-specific agility through the Illinois Agility Test and T-test protocols. Results demonstrated that the combined plyometric and sprint training group (Group A) achieved the most significant improvements in all measured parameters. Motor coordination scores improved by 23.8%, simple reaction time decreased by 12.4%, choice reaction time reduced by 15.7%, and agility performance enhanced by 8.9%. The plyometric-only group showed moderate improvements, while the control group exhibited minimal changes.
These findings indicate that combined plyometric and sprint training represents an optimal training strategy for enhancing neuromuscular function and athletic performance in college athletes. The integration of both training modalities appears to create synergistic effects that exceed the benefits of either approach used independently
Current Perspective on Myofascial Trigger Point Intervention in Headache Management
Headache represents one of the most common neurological issues globally, with Tension-Type Headache (TTH) being the most widespread subtype. The presence of Myofascial Trigger Points (MTrP) in the cervical muscles is viewed as one of the key causes of TTH symptoms. Intervention that are effective in addressing MTrPs are necessary to decrease pain and related disability. This study aimed to compare the levels of effectiveness of Myofascial Release (MFR) and Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR) in individuals with TTH related to suboccipital trigger points. A comparative experimental design was adopted in which thirty individuals between the ages of 40 - 55 years were divided into two groups of 15 individuals each. Group A was given MFR via the cranio-base release method, and Group B was given PIR, which included the use of suboccipital muscle contractions against resistance and followed by relaxation. Treatment was done daily with eight sessions. The intensity of pain was measured with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and disability was measured with the Headache Disability Inventory (HDI) at the baseline, mid-intervention, and after the intervention. The two intervention showed a high level of improvement in both VAS scores, though Group A showed improvement earlier on Day 2 and Day 4. Significant changes in pre- and post-values were highly significant and supported by paired t-tests (p = 0.0001). But HDI scores did not exhibit statistically significant changes within or between the groups in the process of the study. In short, MFR and PIR are efficient in decreasing the severity of a headache in patients with TTH, but no significant improvement in disability was observed in the short term are Both intervention are valuable in clinical practice as they are available and non-pharmacological methods of managing headache
Implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Krisi Sinchayee Yojana for the advancement of Horticulture in the State of Mizoram
Horticulture seems to get more attention and recognition in Mizoram. This is due to the growing health consciousness among the people, economic viability and feasibility of the horticulture crops, suitability of soil of the land etc. The topography of the state also has a significant contribution for the development of horticulture as large scale industries could not be set up due to the absence of vast flat land and scarcity of mineral resources, power etc. However, the climatic conditions and soil composition of Mizoram is found to be suitable for the cultivation of a vast variety of horticulture crops. Farmers in different regions are slowly weaning away from the age-old practice of Jhum cultivation which is detrimental to the environment and are moving towards permanent farming where they can grow more profitable crops with more environment friendly activities without having to shift and clear new plots every year. Even before the introduction of various Central and State horticulture programs and projects, horticulture occupied a very important place in the lives of the people of Mizoram. The Mizos used to be self-sufficient in foodgrains, fruits and vegetables. They grew most of the horticulture crops that are grown today but at a rather less commercial level. Most crops they grew were for their consumption alone. They hardly thought of making profits. However during those days, they gave more emphasis on cereals particularly rice which is the the staple food item of the Mizos since time immemorial

This article traces the evolution and development of feminist thought in Indian English literature by examining its historical phases, major writers and dominant themes. It highlights how Indian feminism differs from Western feminist paradigms while addressing gender oppression within the specific contexts of colonialism, nationalism, caste, class and culture.

Antidiarrheal And Acute Toxicity Study Of Ethanolic Extract Of Pyrus Pashia In Swiss Albino Mice
Diarrheal remains a major health concern in underdeveloped nations, causing millions of deaths and billions of episodes annually, according to the World Health Organization. This study investigated the antidiarrheal potential of Pyrus Pashiain ethanolic fruit extract using Wistar albino mice, with concurrent assessment of acute toxicity. The ethanolic extract exhibited significant antidiarrheal activity, reducing the defecation rate by up to 78.33% at 600 mg/kg, comparable to loperamide (100%). The mechanism involves denaturing proteins and forming protein tannates, reducing intestinal mucosa permeability. The LD50 for the ethanolic fruit extract was determined to be 10,715 mg/kg, indicating its safety. This study validates the traditional use of Pyrus Pashiain ethanolic fruit extract as a herbal remedy for diarrheal, showcasing both its efficacy and safety, contributing to the exploration of natural treatments for this prevalent health issu
