Enriching Psychosocial Wellbeing Among Senior Citizens Residing at Geriatric Homes: Role of Pranayama – A Breathing Technique
Introduction: Nadi Shodana Pranayama is one of the safe and effective forms of breathing technique to boost the psychosocial wellbeing of the elderly and it will uplift their quality of life too. This study aimed to identify the effect of Nadi Shodana Pranayama on the psychosocial wellbeing of institutionalized elderly, as they have weak social connections and relationships, lack of family care, and financial dependence.
Material and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in South India among the senior citizens residing at geriatric homes or centres. One-group pre-test – post-test design was used for the study. The elderly clients recruited after a primary assessment and they have received 10 weeks of Nadi Shodana Pranayama (alternate nostril breathing) A post intervention, assessment conducted 3 weeks after the intervention. Carol D. Ryff Psychological Wellbeing (PWB) Scale used to assess the psychosocial wellbeing of the elderly during pre-intervention and post-intervention phase. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS v25.
Results: Psychosocial wellbeing among the elderly who participated in the study was improved substantially after the intervention, relative to their pre-intervention condition ((P < 0.001; effect size=0.950).
Discussion: Psychosocial wellbeing has significantly improved after the intervention among study participants, compared to their pre-intervention state. The present findings brought out evidence in suggesting the effect of Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodana Pranayama) in promoting psychosocial wellbeing among the elderly.
Conclusion: As people, age their social skills and behaviour significantly deteriorate and change, along with their physical health issues. The Reliability, Safety, and Control Principle on Recognition of Facial Expression Through Deep Learning to Support Responsible AI Implementation Policy
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a system that uses the power of science and technology to create a system that can think and act like humans. It is also a study of creating intelligent computers that can carry out tasks that typically need human intelligence. The use of AI often involves collecting vast amounts of personal data, and if this data is not adequately monitored and protected, it can lead to breaches of privacy and security as well as unethical. If AI is not addressed properly, it may lose out on the advantages and opportunities that these technologies may provide. In view of this, the Malaysian Government, through MOSTI, has launched National AI Roadmap 2021-2025, which also emphasizes Responsible AI practices, including the reliability, safety, and control of AI to minimize harm and challenges. In addition, with the shift from laboratory-controlled to demanding in the-wild circumstances for facial expression recognition (FER) and the relative success of deep Learning methods in multiple areas, deep neural networks are progressively being used to learn discriminative representations for automated FER. The latest deep FER systems mainly focus on two issues overfitting due to a lack of enough data and unrelated variations like lighting, head pose, and identity bias. In this paper, we propose a solution for facial expression recognition that integrates Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and specific image pre-processing steps. CNN achieves better accuracy with given data. Yet, there are no available datasets with adequate data for facial expression recognition with deep architectures. Thus, the pre-processing technique is applied to extract only five expression-specific features from a face image detecting emotions such as happiness, surprise, sadness, anger, and normal. A sufficient number of Eigen face values are chosen. These Eigen faces can make up any image of training data when added with the right proportions; after all eigenvalues from each trained image are evaluated, a new input image can be processed by calculating the Euclidean Distance between the Eigenvalues of the input image and every training image within the help of MATLAB software the lowest distance will determine the current expression

Achievement Gap for PA Skill in Hindi Speaking 5-6 years Old Children of Low Socio Economic Status in Central Uttar Pradesh
Phonological awareness (PA) skills during the early years are key predictors of literacy development. Among the many factors deleterious to PA development, socio economic status (SES) is cited as an important factor. This study aimed at assessing the PA skills in 5-6 years old Hindi speaking kindergarten children of low SES in Lucknow. Additionally, the relational aspects of gender and PA skills were also analysed. A test consisting of items at rhyming, word and syllable level was developed and standardised for 5-6 years old children. This test was administered to 5-6 years old children (n=96) with a mean age of 5years 7months and a mean SES score of 8.49 from two randomly selected private schools in the low SES neighbourhoods. Upon analysis, children of low SES were found to have deficient PA skill (mean =8.56) with no significant gender wise difference (p ≥.05). The deficits in PA skill of children belonging to low SES which make them vulnerable to develop reading difficulties in later school years. The knowledge of deficits helps in early identification of children at risk of reading difficulties and appropriate curriculum modification for effective transactional pedagogy

Assessing Socio-Communicative Abilities and Presence of Problematic Behaviours in Children with Autism: A Quantitative Descriptive Investigation
An investigation of behavioural problems and clinical variables among children with autism employs a quantitative descriptive research design. Social and emotional development of children with autism differs from that of their typically developing peers. Having difficulty interacting with others and forming relationships is one of the most prominent signs of autism. An extensive literature search found that play therapy and social skills therapy aren\u27t commonly used for children with autism spectrum disorders. With frequency tables, both demographic and research variables of the study samples will be analyzed for their qualitative distributions (i.e. closed ended values). Data on socio-demographic variables and clinical variables were collected through the socio-demographic section of the questionnaire. A set of ASSP and ABAT tools was used to measure the participants\u27 social skills and behavior. Statistical differences between the demographic variables of children with autism in experimental groups I and II before intervention were calculated with the chi-square test. Despite the non-significant \u27p\u27 value (P>0.05), the experimental I, II, and control groups did not differ significantly. Both the groups were almost similar and comparable. Children with autism can benefit from more targeted interventions and support strategies, which will improve their well-being and quality of life. As a result, parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals may gain a better understanding of how to cope with the behavioral symptoms of autism spectrum disorder

The first group achieved a mean score of pre-test, post-test, and delayed post-test of 45.66 (6.618); 51.45 (7.514); and 43.78 (5.678), respectively. The 2nd group achieved a mean score of pre-test, post-test, and delayed post-test 44.78.14 (6.515); 85.45 (8.54); and 86.44 (8.65), respectively.
Conclusion: Parent support during health behavior classes is effective in increasing awareness among obese students
Ameliorative Effects of Sitagliptin against Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulcer in Rats
The present study investigated the potential protective effect of sitagliptin against indomethacin-induced gastric ulcer in rats. Sitagliptin was administered in two doses (5 and 10 mg/kg/day, p.o.) for 14 days, then gastric ulcer was induced by a single dose of indomethacin (50 mg/kg, p.o.). In another set of experiments, the effects of sitagliptin on gastric secretion were tested in pylorus-ligated rats. Sitagliptin significantly decreased the ulcer index, malondialdehyde, tumor necrosis factor-α, and cleaved caspase-3, and significantly increased the reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase and prostaglandin E2 in gastric mucosa of indomethacin-challenged rats. Sitagliptin also reduced the volume of gastric secretion, total acid concentration, and pepsin activity in pylorus-ligated rats. Histopathological examination showed that sitagliptin markedly minimized the gastric mucosal injuries caused by indomethacin. Both sitagliptin doses significantly protected against indomethacin-induced gastric lesions in rats, most probably by inhibiting oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis
