    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to explore the level of poverty in the communities surrounding Sebangau National Park, as the newest national park established in Indonesia, as well as to compare the success of ecotourism in Botswana, Malawi and Namibia that provide benefits to their surrounding communities through employment as well as the "trickledown effect." The mixed-method study was conducted on 100 residents and interviews with eight-core informants. The quantitative data was analyzed descriptively and juxtaposed with qualitative results. The results show that the ecotourism policy has been running well (average 4.39 from a maximum of 5.00 in both aspects), but at the same time, social inequality is high (average 4.41) as well as poverty (4.38). The results of the interviews also revealed problems in the absence of proactivity from supporting community groups to eradicate poverty and the lack of touch from the government in general in improving inequality and poverty in society. Moreover, the results of a cross-sectional study in the Sebangau National Park, Indonesia, show the contrary situation to the national park in Africa that could lead by the different paradigm of national park management

As a consequence of the COVID-19 epidemic, hybrid and completely virtual classrooms, along with socially distant classrooms, will be widely used throughout the school year 2020-2021. The focus of this study is on how COVID-19 affects teachers in hybrid and online primary schools in terms of their mental health. At the one-month point of the school year, this research focused on the worries of first-grade teachers. The study enlisted 312 primary school teachers from 16 different states and used a survey approach to collect their responses. This covers both traditional classroom teachers (104) and those who work exclusively online (208). Significant correlations and indicators of teacher strain were found. Indicators of teacher stress included scores on the COVID-19\u27s anxiety, present anxiety, nervousness in dealing with our parents, and backing from administrators. The perspectives of educators on the researched variables were also incorporated in the results in the form of short answer responses. Academic, technological, and emotional support are all areas in which schools and school districts can help teachers

    Get PDF
Heritage is bestowed by a previous generation to the future generation. It signifies the character of the concerned - place, objects, knowledge, skill, to be valued for reasons beyond their utility and their functional value. Conserving urban heritage is inevitably important as it holds equitable importance [1]. The Conservation strategies require to be integrated with the Planning and Development Policies, Plans and their practical execution but there are lots of gaps because of the Lack of authentic temporal and spatial data availability along with the Good Governance system. Delhi is estimated to have more than two hundred heritage properties in Shahjahanabad Old Delhi. Further, there are many more heritage properties amongst the other eight living historic cities within its boundary. In the present study, precincts have been identified and primary surveys e.g., reconnaissance survey and governance survey have been used for the data collection and analysis. This research paper highlights the governance issues faced by organizations   and citizens and identifies the areas which need to be addressed for holistic development. Moreover, it pinpoints the parameters that need to be used for the improvement of governance

Introduction: High quality education has the potential to drive social change, promote equity and alleviate poverty. The prosperity of nations is closely linked to the calibre of their education systems. However, student attrition at the university level poses a major obstacle to mitigating social disparities. While many factors contribute to this phenomenon, leveraging machine learning and data analytics to identify influencing variables and predict potential student dropout is an effective approach to address this problem. Objectives: To analyses risk-factors for attrition (drop out) of students at Higher Education Institutions and machine learning algorithms for early detection of such students that could benefit all the stakeholders. Methods: The study used an unbalanced dataset from a higher education institution to build a classification model to predict academic dropout. The dataset was balanced using oversampling technique and tested using three machine learning algorithms: Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Multinomial Logistic Regression (LR). Results: The best result was achieved with RF model, with high values of recall, specificity, F1 and balanced accuracy for each of classes: Dropout, Enrolled and Graduate. Conclusions: A total of 23 features were selected. With 80% of the balanced data, the training of three machine learning models was carried out. For the validation process, the remaining 20% of the data from the original (unbalanced) dataset was used. The results showed a high accuracy in two of the trained models: RM and SVM, with an overall accuracy higher than 0.93

    Get PDF
The giant cell tumor continues to be one of the bone tumors with many controversies in its diagnosis and management by doctors, it is benign, it mainly affects the epiphyses of the long bones. It occurs with a higher percentage in young adults, between 20 and 40 years old, although its origin is uncertain. It has a purely lytic and generally aggressive appearance, which destroys the bone and can even cause its fracture, sometimes invades the soft tissues, so magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography are important to determine the extent of the tumor, for On the other hand, simple radiological examinations are often very useful in suggesting the diagnosis. The differential diagnosis mainly includes lesions that affect the epiphyseal regions of the bones, such as chondroblastoma and clear cell chondrosarcoma. The treatment of giant cell tumors is mainly surgical, which consists of an extensive scraping with direct vision through a wide bone window, said scraping is more effective with the use of substances, such as phenol or liquid nitrogen, with the in order to sterilize the tumor bed and reduce the risk of local recurrence, since even with modern scrapings the risk of recurrence is significant. Objective: to  carry out a bibliographic review on concepts and classifications that allow an early and effective diagnosis of this type of tumor, which will allow an adequate treatment to be given, thus improving the quality of life of patients suffering from this disease, reducing its complications. Conclusions: It can be established that, in most patients, the tumors are benign and are usually located in the epiphysis of long bones with a tendency to produce local recurrences

    Get PDF
This study is a quasi-experimental research aimed at investigating the effects of art activities combined with storytelling techniques on creativity in early childhood. The sample group consists of 30 students, specifically 15 students from Kindergarten 2 (K2) and 15 students from Kindergarten 3 (K3), randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group using simple random sampling. The pretest and posttest data were collected using "The Test for Creative Thinking Drawing Production" (TCT-DP). Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics to summarize the general information of the sample group, and inferential statistics, including the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and the Mann-Whitney U-Test, to test the research hypotheses. The research findings indicate that after engaging in collaborative art activities along with storytelling techniques, the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher levels of creativity compared to their pre-test scores and also higher than the control group, with statistical significance at the .05 level. This study demonstrates that participating in collaborative art activities and storytelling techniques can promote creative thinking skills and further enhance narrative communication to express thoughts and emotions through self-created artworks in young children with high efficiency

This paper aims to study the negotiation of the Black identity that takes place in Edward P. Jones’s Lost in the City, The Known World and All Aunt Hagar’s Children. Jones contemplation and his representation of the South in African-American Society using a new technique of geo-tagging is unconventional. The production and definition of the social identity highly relies on the discourse of nationhood. Within the capital of Washington DC, there is significant racial division which subverts the concept of American dream. Using the 21st Century Washington D.C. and its characters Jones has portrayed the denial of justice, opportunity, liberty, equality and fraternity which are the grounding elements of the American Dream. Even though Edward P. Jones affiliates to the great American writers of place like, William Faulkner, John Updike, Sherwood Anderson and Tim Sullivan, Edward P. Jones has made a distinct approach in his technique. While these writers created fictional places in their texts Jones had created myth out of a real place like Washington DC. Every street, every landmark, every house and every landmark mentioned in these texts are real. The association of identity with the place also contributes significantly in the construction of Black identity in these texts. This paper aims to study these facets of American dream and construction of identity in the Pulitzer Prize winning writer Edward P. Jones
