    No full text
Stress-related insomnia is a prevalent condition characterized by difficulty in initiating or maintaining sleep due to psychological stressors. This insomnia can lead to significant impairment in daily functioning and overall well-being. Homeopathy, a system of medicine based on the principle of treating "like to be treated with like," offers a holistic approach to managing this condition. This paper explores the efficacy of homeopathic remedies in alleviating symptoms of stress-related insomnia, emphasizing individualized treatment plans that consider the unique physical and emotional profiles of patients. A review of clinical studies and case reports indicates that homeopathic treatments may effectively reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve sleep quality. Furthermore, the gentle nature of homeopathic remedies presents a compelling alternative to conventional pharmacological interventions, particularly for those seeking a more natural and personalized approach to managing stress and insomnia. The findings suggest that homeopathy could play a valuable role in the integrative management of stress-related insomnia, warranting further research into its mechanisms and long-term benefits.

Salivary Biomarkers: A Noninvasive Revolution in Periodontal Disease Diagnosis

    No full text
Early detection of periodontal disease is critical for effective treatment and preventing complications. In recent years, salivary biomarkers have emerged as valuable tools for diagnosing and monitoring periodontal diseases, offering a noninvasive and easily accessible diagnostic medium. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the supporting structures of teeth, and traditional diagnostic methods, such as clinical and radiographic assessments, provide limited information about disease activity and future risk. Saliva, however, contains a rich array of biomarkers, including immunological, enzymatic, microbial, and inflammatory markers, which can reflect both oral and systemic health. This review explores the role of salivary biomarkers, including specific markers like immunoglobulins, enzymes, and cytokines, in assessing periodontal disease. It also discusses the potential of emerging technologies, such as microfluidic devices, in improving the diagnostic utility of saliva for periodontal health. Despite some challenges, the growing interest in saliva as a diagnostic tool holds promise for more precise and personalized periodontal care

Bipolar versus monopolar transurethral resection for benign prostatic hypertrophy: A prospective observational study

    No full text
Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the most common diseases that affect aging males. The lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by BPH–related obstruction (BPO) continue to be a major problem in the medical care of aging males. Aim: To compare the effects of bipolar and monopolar TURP in terms of symptom improvement and perioperative results for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods: A total of 80 patients who underwent transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) surgical procedure, (n = 40 for monopolar TURP) and (n = 40 for bipolar TURP) for BPH enrolled at the Department of Urology in Government Medical College Srinagar. Patients were grouped into group I, who underwent bipolar TURP and group II , who underwent monopolar. Preoperatively, by using IPSS (international prostate symptom scale) and IIEF-5 (international index of erectile function-5) questionnaires severity of LUTS and Erectile function were assessed. All patients were submitted to transrectal ultrasonography and PSA determination. Surgical and immediately postsurgical variables and complications were recorded. Urethral stricture incidence, post-surgical reoperation rate, total postoperative catheter time and hospital stay, change in serum sodium, and hemoglobin were also recorded in two groups. Results: Study groups were comparable with regard to demographic profile with statically no significant differences p>0.05. Significant differences were found in operating time in minutes (48.11 ± 5.29 vs 43.99 ± 6.28, P < 0.025) between Group I and Group II. A significant drop in serum sodium was seen in post-operative period in Group I as compared to Group II which was statistically significant (P<0.5). Catheterization time and duration of hospitalization were clearly shorter in the Group II. Transurethral resection (TUR) syndrome was reported in two patients who had undergone monopolar resection without any incidence in bipolar group. Fall in haemoglobin (Hb) and packed cell volume (PCV) was more in Group I as compared to Group II, but statically insignificant (p>0.05). Conclusion: Bipolar TURP is safe and equally effective as monopolar TURP that is correlated with a distinctly shorter catheterization time, shorter hospital stay, less decrement in the levels of serum sodium

Electoral Behaviour and Identity Politics in Manipur: An Empirical Study

    No full text
The political landscape of Northeast India, especially in Manipur, is marked by complex layers of conflict, both vertical (state versus non-state actors) and horizontal (ethnic tensions), which significantly influence electoral behavior and governance outcomes. The region, described by the World Bank as trapped in a cycle of poverty, conflict, and mistrust in political institutions, faces a unique challenge in aligning electoral processes with democratic ideals. This paper explores the relationship between regular elections, governance quality, and conflict resolution in Manipur, emphasizing whether higher electoral participation correlates with fair governance and reduced conflict. The study examines how ethnic divisions and insurgency complicate the effectiveness of elections, highlighting the roles of political parties, civil society, and gender in shaping voter behavior. The paper utilizes archival research, ethnography, and document analysis to delve into the intersection of electoral practices and identity politics in a state plagued by systemic instability. The findings suggest that while Manipur witnesses high voter turnout, electoral practices are often undermined by violence, corruption, and unresolved conflicts. Despite these challenges, the rise of national parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 21st century reflects a shift in the state\u27s electoral dynamics, as economic dependency and regional aspirations drive voters toward national platforms. The BJP’s increasing success contrasts with the decline of regional parties such as the Indian National Congress (INC), the Manipur People’s Party (MPP), and the Federal Party of Manipur (FPM). Ultimately, the paper argues that electoral politics in conflict zones like Manipur must evolve to bridge the gap between electoral participation and tangible governance outcomes, fostering genuine democratic representation and social cohesion

Understanding Role of Psychosocial Factors in Management of Hypertension - A Review Article

    No full text
Genetic and behavioral factors alone do not fully explain the development of hypertension, and there\u27s growing evidence suggesting that psychosocial factors may play a significant role as well. Chronic stress exposure has been proposed as a risk factor for hypertension, and aspects such as occupational stress, stressful social environments, and low socioeconomic status have been extensively studied. Research on the mechanisms underlying the effects of stress on hypertension has primarily focused on cardiovascular reactivity, but the delayed recovery to pre-stress levels is increasingly being examined as another potential pathway. The development of hypertension can be influenced by a person\u27s unique constitutional makeup, whether inherited or acquired, along with various environmental factors, both internal and external. Homeopathic remedies take into account the genetic and constitutional characteristics of individuals, addressing the underlying causes of ailments, diathesis, and susceptibilities, thereby correcting internal imbalances and promoting healing. Homeopathy adopts a holistic approach, focusing on the individual as a whole and stimulating the body’s innate healing responses, resulting in an overall improvement in quality of life across all dimensions. This article reviews recent findings in each of these areas and discusses directions for future research
