Aggression And Psychological Well-Being In Relation To Companion Animals Among Young Adults

    No full text
This study delved into the correlation between the aggression levels and psychological well-being of young adults, considering the presence or absence of companion animals in their lives. The research involved 140 participants, evenly split between 70 young adults without companion animals and 70 with them. Data collection utilized the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale, and analysis employed Pearson correlation. Results unveiled that level of aggression tended to be higher in young adults without companion animals. Interestingly, there were no substantial variations in psychological well-being between the two groups. However, the statistical significance of these differences was somewhat limited, suggesting the potential influence of additional factors. The study also explored specific aggression domains and psychological well-being aspects. It was discovered that in young adults without companion animals, all aggression domains were notably higher. Moreover, while levels of autonomy, personal growth, positive relations, and purpose in life were comparatively lower in young adults without companion animals, these differences did not reach statistical significance. Notwithstanding these noteworthy findings, the study has certain limitations, including a relatively small sample size, reliance on self-report measures, and a lack of consideration for potential confounding variables. Future research endeavors should aim to address these limitations to offer a more comprehensive understanding of the intricate relationship between companion animal ownership and mental health outcome

    No full text
Empowering marginal and small farmers through mobile-based custom hiring services is crucial for enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability, particularly in regions with limited access to modern farming equipment and technology. These services, accessible via smartphones, enable farmers to rent farm machinery and equipment on a need basis, thereby reducing the capital investment required to purchase expensive machinery. This model not only improves the affordability and accessibility of advanced agricultural tools for smallholder farmers but also promotes efficient resource use and can lead to increased crop yields and income. Furthermore, by facilitating the sharing of resources among farming communities, mobile-based custom hiring services encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange, contributing to the overall resilience and advancement of the agricultural sector. Adopting such services can significantly impact rural economies, driving growth and reducing poverty among the farming communities that form the backbone of many developing countries. For the present study, data is collected from 140 farmers of the Jalgaon district.&nbsp

    No full text
Background: Foods like millet are very high in nutrients and non-glutinous. In India, millets usually consist of sorghum, pearl millet, and a range of small millets. Millets are a good source of iron, manganese, phosphorus, antioxidants, magnesium, and vitamin B. They are well-known for their endurance, capacity to cope with high temperatures and deteriorated soils, and minimal need for water, fertilizer, and pesticides. Millets aid in the advancement of the digestive system and help remove issues such as cramps, bloating, constipation, and excessive gas. By controlling the digestive processes, eating millet helps to prevent gastrointestinal disorders like ulcers and colon cancer. Maintaining regular digestion and the removal of harmful components also supports the body\u27s immunological, liver, and kidney systems. Increasing rates of lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and micronutrient deficiency disorders are the sheer result of our ignorant behavior toward our nutritional intake. Objective:  To assess awareness about the importance of millets amongst nursing college students at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow City. Methodology: This observational study was carried out on 100 nursing students at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. The data was collected on socio-demographics, millet frequency patterns, and KAP. Direct interviews using the self-structured questionnaire method were used to collect data. Results: In the present study, the chi-square and Phi’s and Cramer’s V strengths are used to test the association between the frequency of millet consumption. The findings of the study revealed that not all demographic factors, except a few, influence the consumption pattern of millet. Conclusion: People can incorporate millet, a very nutrient-dense food, into their everyday diets. Not only does it have a high nutritional content, but it also has many additional advantages, like being gluten-free, helping the body detoxify, being non-acidic, and being easily digested. The consumption pattern of millets is mostly unaffected by demographic considerations. Therefore, it is necessary to search for additional elements to encourage individuals to consume millet

Purpose: Examining pertinent behaviors and their underlying causes is crucial in assessing employee performance. One such behavior of significance is Organizational Citizenship Behavior, known to enhance organizational effectiveness. The factors influencing citizenship behaviors are categorized as organizational and individual, with personality traits falling under the latter. Personality traits, being individual factors influencing behavior, are specifically explored in this study. The discretionary nature of citizenship behavior underscores that individuals exhibit such behaviors voluntarily, emphasizing the predictive influence of individual factors. In this context, the study delves into the predictive capacity of two specific personality traits – agreeableness and conscientiousness. Research Design/ Methodology: Descriptive research method was employed in this study. A sample size of 112 was collected using convenience sampling method. Correlation and multiple regression using SPSS version 28 was used for data analysis. Findings: The results have established the personality trait- conscientiousness as a significant predictor of all the dimensions of citizenship behaviour. Limitations: This work has covered academicians employed in the private arts and science colleges. Generalizability of the results to academicians in government institutions, aided institutions needs further investigation as the organizational environment differs in private and government institutions. Originality/Value: With personality traits being an innate factor for causing behaviour, the study intends to examine the power of innate qualities of an individual in promoting specific behaviour

Scaling Up Design Education In India: Importance Of Higher Education In Design.

Design, in the Indian society and culture has still not gained the prominence that students are taught in design schools. The question is, “Is design actually considered a subject”? This paper shall discuss the prominence of design as an individual subject in higher education for the design students. Design has always been misinterpreted to be a subject of Visual arts by the Indian Societal norms of education even by the University Grants Commission- National Eligibility test Examinations. However, not many people in India know the translucency of the two subjects that is between “Art” and “Design.” As a design student it is onerous to single out the elective for higher studies in obedience to the UGC/ NET examination subject list. UGC/NET examination list holds 102 subjects including Visual arts (which includes sub electives as applied arts, drawing/painting, sculpting, History of arts, fine arts, and graphics) 1. Design is a boundless subject to be categorized under visual arts. This option of “Visual Arts” defalcates the students from their own skill, knowledge, and hard work they have put so far to set foot at this level of higher education (PhD.) in the field of design. “Design solves problems while art raises questions. Design motivates, art inspires. Design is understood, art is interpreted. Design typically starts with a message; art starts with a blank canvas. Design should leave audience with one clear action, sentiment or idea, art should leave audience with a multitude of impressions. Design joins function with aesthetics, art uses aesthetics and self- expression. Design is all about taking business need and finding a solution in a creative and compelling way. whereas, art is all about expressing an inner feeling and showing that to the world,” says Dale Addy in an interview at Rasmussen University (Kristina Ericksen, 2017)2 . In the frame of reference of this conversation with Dale Addy, it is of paramount importance to discrete Design from Visual arts and provide it an autonomous identity as a subject under UGC/NET examination list. Parallel to the design curriculum that is followed by most of the design schools in India, this paper shall further ventilate the structural pattern of the design syllabus for the design subject and the electives of design. The paper shall also examine the records related to design education and discuss the literature review of the previous researchers and educators on the same. With the flourishing future of design education and the sky rocketing demand of students to opt for this subject as their career, it has become predominant to structuralize the subject of design under UGC/NET examination list
