Many individuals across the globe are affected by violence and torture, which may be detrimental to their mental health. While studies have shown that specific traumatic experiences can bring on psychiatric disorders, any traumatic event can set off a cascade of negative emotions that can strain relationships at home and lead to missed work. Stressors and an individual\u27s basic character determine whether or not they experience mental symptoms. From a medical or health perspective, it has been shown that the psychological effects of torture are the most debilitating for individuals who make it through the trauma. Research has shown that men and women may have distinct experiences and reactions to the same situations. Women were subjected to more psychological abuse and suffered a wider spectrum of psychosomatic and psychological disorders during their detention and after their release, according to a study of torture victims conducted in South Africa. Another research found that victims of sexual assault had trouble sleeping and had terrible dreams. They were also discovered to be permanently sad

In Low and Middle-income countries (LMICs), children’s access to play may be limited due to poverty, lack of resources and inadequate knowledge among parents about their importance. The aim of the study was to explore the knowledge, attitude, and practice of parents towards early childhood play materials in LMICs and their impact on child development.  300 parent-infants (less than 7 months of age) dyad were recruited from a well baby clinic at a tertiary care hospital. The parents were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of question under three domains, knowledge, attitude, and practice. A positive linear correlation was found between Knowledge and Attitude, Knowledge and Practice and Attitude and Practice in this study. The parents of infants have a good knowledge regarding the role of early exposure of play materials and also had a better attitude and practice to encourage their infants and engage themselves during play with different types of play materials. The good knowledge in parents might lead to positive attitude and a good practice in parents regarding the early exposure of play materials in children

    Get PDF
Numerous studies discovered that high levels of self-efficacy are related with good performance in various language learning activities. In the Philippines, most of the studies conducted on self-efficacy focused more on other macro-skills such as reading and writing whereas there were only limited studies which focused on speaking. Hence, this study aims to identify the level of speaking self-efficacy of senior high school students, specifically Grade 11 “Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)” students, in Oral Communication in Context. Speaking self-efficacy is the major variable, and descriptive data about it is collected using a quantitative descriptive study approach. The primary data is gathered using a 28-item questionnaire, and the study\u27s findings are further examined and verified through a targeted group discussion. The study\u27s findings demonstrate that senior high school students exhibit significant levels of speaking self-efficacy. Notably, the majority of the highest indicators regarding speaking self-efficacy beliefs are attributed to one of the sources of self-efficacy which is mastery experience. It is recommended that teachers may further improve the speaking self-efficacy of senior high school students by providing social persuasion in the form of realistic verbal messages about their oral communication performance. This means that positive verbal responses from the teachers are significant in the continuous promotion of speaking self-efficacy among the students

Introduction The COVID-19 epidemic has triggered radical shifts in consumer habits. To make sense of these transformations, it is essential to appreciate the significance of social impact. Objectives This research uses social psychology to investigate how peer pressure affected people\u27s buying habits throughout the pandemic. An online survey was administered to 4783 participants over 65 years during the first peak period of the COVID-19 contagion in European. Methods The survey collected data on CB toward requisites and non-requisites, as well as various psychological factors, including anxiety, COVID-related fear, depression, personality traits, perceived economic stability, and self-confirmations for purchasing. Statistical analyses, including regression models, were conducted to examine the associations between these variables. Results The study found that the COVID-19 epidemic had a significant effect on CB, leading to higher spending and a shift in the desire to buy both essentials and luxuries. However, it is important to note that the study only used a non-clinical sample, and more research on dysfunctional CB is needed. Conclusions The research also highlighted the significance of thinking about contextual elements and the possibility for CB to change over time. Nonetheless, the findings of this study shed light on CB in times of health crisis, which is useful for planning ahead

Introduction: The connection involving mental abilities and social competencies, as well as the challenges instructors face while instructing pupils, particularly kids having unique learning requirements, are not well studied. Objectives: This study sought to determine if variations in the participant\u27s levels of psychological ability and social competencies were connected to the problems instructors have while dealing with kids who have various kinds of special educational needs. Methods: There were 225 instructors representing Polish institutions in the research group. The Interpersonal abilities Assessment and the Two-dimension Mental Health Assessment were used as sources of knowledge. Results: Revealed variations in psychological abilities and interpersonal abilities just when interacting with kids who had mild to serious developmental disabilities as well as long-term medical and behavioral issues. The results indicated that kids\u27 mental health or behavior may play a role in the challenges instructors report experiencing while being around specific groups of special education pupils. Conclusions: These surprising results point to the need of providing instructors with highly developed soft skills that, independent of their work experience or location of employment may be very useful in job duties

    Get PDF
Diabetes incidence has been significantly increasing, particularly in urbanised nations. By 2035, it is predicted that there will be about 600 million people living with diabetes worldwide. Proper education is one of the most effective methods to prevent the onset of complications connected to diabetes, according to a large body of evidence. A probability proportion to size sampling strategy was used in the community-based intervention study, which adopted a true experimental design. In the initial phase, 240 samples were chosen.240 people were sampled, and those with diabetes were selected for intervention.Pre-testing was carried out utilising a structured interview schedule, with 60 persons being taken for the intervention under cluster randomization. With the aid of flash cards, health education was provided on the definition, aetiology, clinical symptoms, control, and prevention of diabetes.. The post test was completed at intervals of 3 months and 6 months. In the pretest showed that 53.3% of the population had insufficient awareness, while in the posttests I and II, only 40.0% did. After 3 months, nobody has the adequate  awareness, but after 6 months, 10% of people have the adequate awareness.Regarding practice, 66.7% had subpar practice. Within 3 months of the intervention, it will drop to 40.0%. Six months following the operation, it drops to 36.7%. Reinforcement of the intervention will raise awareness, practice, and lessen consequences related to diabetes mellitus
