Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the behavior of emotional polymorphism in individuals through the execution of basic tasks.   Theoretical Framework: It was found that individuals exhibit various components or variants of emotions within an emotional state, influenced by various external factors classified as general and task-specific. In the first case, the emotional state was composed of Contextual Emotions (EmC), and in the second by Induced Emotions (EmI). Nevertheless, each state comprised a variety of emotional components, even with different valences reported by self-reporting individuals, which was termed Emotional Polymorphism (PEm).   Method: A controlled experiment was designed where participants performed two basic tasks using controlled time work systems and perception. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted through self-reporting, where participants were asked for statistical data as well as a description of their emotional valence.   Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that there are variations in the emotional components (CEm) that make up each emotional polymorphism, considering an initial state comprised of EmC and a final response made up of EmI.   Implications of the Research: Managing error through the study of the components that may amplify it can assist in improving the design of interfaces and work systems that are important in the daily lives of users, such as ATMs.   Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by exploring the behavior of the components of Emotional states, as a result of contextual factors and specific tasks. Get PDF
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine how the Indonesian hotel sector may use the internet as a productive and successful marketing tool.   Theoretical Framework: The opportunities offered by the internet include ease of accessing and disseminating information about hotel products and services, the ability to reach a wider and more diverse market, and the opportunity to improve the quality and efficiency of services (Kapoor & Kapoor, 2021). However, the internet also poses challenges, such as increasingly fierce competition, changes in consumer preferences and behavior, and threats to data security and privacy (Bandara, Fernando, & Akter, 2020).   Design/Methodology/Approach: This research uses secondary data from the World Bank and UNWTO regarding Internet users, Number of hotel rooms, Total guests, and Tourism arrivals from 2000 to 2022. This research applies a vector autoregression (VAR) model with two lags to test the relationship between five time variables. series, namely Total Guests, Tourism Arrivals, Room Rate, Number Of Rooms, and Internet Users. The VAR model was chosen because it has the lowest information criteria values, namely AIC, SC, and HQ, which shows a high fit to the data.   Findings: Number of Rooms is the variable that has the most influence on other variables, which indicate the capacity and quality of hotel accommodation. Therefore, hotels are advised to increase the Number Of Rooms in order to attract more tourists and increase revenue. Apart from that, Total Guests, Tourism Arrivals, and Room Rate also have a significant effect on several other variables, which reflect the dynamics of market demand and supply, as well as hotel competitiveness. Therefore, hotels are advised to maintain and improve these variables with appropriate marketing strategies, such as promotions, distribution channels and social networks. Meanwhile, Internet User is the weakest variable in the VAR model, which has a negative relationship with Total Guests, Tourism Arrivals, and Room Rate, which reflects the influence of information technology on consumer behavior.   Research, Practical & Social Implications: This research makes a practical contribution by providing solutions for the hotel industry in Indonesia to increase performance and income by utilizing the internet as an effective and efficient marketing medium.   Originality/Value: This research provides a theoretical contribution by examining the influence of the internet as an effective and efficient marketing medium for the hotel industry in Indonesia, which is a topic that has rarely been researched before.

THE PROS AND CONS OF ARTICLE 207 OF THE 1988 FEDERAL CONSTITUTION OF BRAZIL

    Get PDF
Purpose: This article focuses on Article 207 of the 1988 Brazilian Constitution. It then discusses the pros and cons of this article, which gives full rights to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in relation to their teaching and administrative autonomy. The social problem is as follows: Do HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) violate the law or not, as they are protected by Article 207 of the 1988 Brazilian Constitution? The aim of this study is to show how HEIs use Article 207 (BRAZIL, 1988) in their selection processes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Brazil. Method: This investigation used the Experience Report as its method and the qualitative approach as its approach. Results and Discussion: The results of this study show that HEIs do violate the law. Unfortunately, there seems to be no supervision by public bodies, except when the MEC (Ministry of Education) or another recognized body visits these institutions to qualify or disqualify their courses at national level and even internationally (institutions other than the MEC). On these occasions, unfortunately, many camouflages are made by these HEIs. Reading this article, it becomes clear that the university autonomy of Article 207 of the 1988 Federal Constitution (BRAZIL, 1988) does not in fact guarantee democracy within the HEIs, especially when it comes to entering and remaining as a student, teacher and/or employee/servant, especially in public HEIs. Implications of the Research: This experience report explores the possibility of re-evaluating Article 207 of the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, to the extent that the autonomy guaranteed to Higher Education Institutions in Brazil is more effective, linked to constant inspections by public authorities without prior warning. Thus, it is understood that, although "enslaved" to a higher order represented by the Brazilian government and the legislation in force in Brazil, Brazilian universities will indeed be secular and for everyone. Originality/Value: This research and article, although short, raises for discussion a crucial point for guaranteeing democracy in access to higher education and postgraduate studies in Brazil, which is little debated. There is a lot of talk about autonomy within Brazilian universities today. However, there is little questioning of this autonomy and how harmful and lethal it can be to democracy within them

Objective: This study aims to analyze whether the number of assets differs before and after conversion to an Islamic bank.   Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework provides relevant information on Islamic banking and market structure, which forms the basis for the development of hypothesis.   Method: Using regression analysis with dummy variables, the study found differences in assets between the pre and post-conversion periods.   Results and Discussion: The findings suggest that conversion could be a recommended approach for the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia to accelerate asset growth. Additionally, it offers an optimal solution for smaller-sized conventional banks as an alternative to spin-offs or mergers.   Research Implications: This research provides significant contributions to the study of Islamic banking. This research has the implication that conversion can be an alternative strategy for small parent banks.   Originality/Value: Several conventional banks in Indonesia have chosen full conversion into Islamic banks as an exit strategy. This decision is in addition to the spin-off option. Bank of Aceh, Bank of NTB and Bank of Riau Kepri completed the full conversion in 2016, 2018 and 2022, respectively. However, research on Islamic bank conversion is still limited

Objective: Analyzing, by means of an AR model, the presence of structural breaks in the interest rate series and, as a result, to verify the effects and/or changes in the share price level of certain publicly traded companies broken down by economic sectors, from January 2015 to June 2022. Theoretical Framework: Monetary policy has a substantial effect on investment intentions and, consequently, this is reflected in the business environment channeled through the Brazilian market indicator, the Ibovespa. A structural break is when the trends and patterns of association between observations in a time series change. This break usually reflects difficult times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Using an AR model and statistical tests, the presence of structural breaks in the Selic series was analyzed. The aim was to identify repercussions on the Brazilian stock market, for which the market value of 12 Ibovepa companies was used as a proxy. Results and Discussion: There was a divergence between the share price and the interest rate when the structural breaks occurred. Research Implications: Knowing these structural changes can improve forecasting capacity and reduce the risk of estimating erroneous results. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by analyzing the accuracy of forecasts, verifying the magnitude of any shortfall, which can be used to make decisions in the business environment
