No full textEl catàleg que tens a les teves mans conté part de les nostres obres desenvolupades durant el període del postgrau i formen part de l’exposició final, la qual porta per títol Retrato hablado. Aquest concepte busca posar en evidència el que la il·lustració genera com a diàleg entre la idea de dibuixar i el que es dibuixa, entre el que l’artista vol dir i el que l’altre, en veure la il·lustració, està constantment interpretant. També busca entendre la il·lustració com un ofici que està al servei de les idees i els missatges amb els quals la societat està constantment interpel·lant-nos. Aquesta relació es genera en tot tipus d’il·lustracions, ja sigui per a llibres il·lustrats, publicitat, premsa i fins i tot articles de disseny. Finalment, la il·lustració és un vehicle més per fer arribar idees, somnis, denúncies i una infinitat d’altres missatges que com a artistes volem transmetre.El catálogo que tienes en tus manos corresponde a parte de nuestras obras desarrolladas durante el periodo del postgrado, y forman parte de la exposición final, la cual lleva por nombre Retrato hablado. Este concepto busca poner en evidencia lo que la ilustración genera como diálogo entre la idea de dibujar y lo que se dibuja, entre lo que el artista quiere decir, y lo que el otro, al ver la ilustración, está constantemente interpretando, así como de entender la ilustración como un oficio que está al servicio de las ideas y los mensajes con los que la sociedad está constantemente interpelándonos. Esta relación se genera en todo tipo de ilustraciones, ya sea para libros ilustrados, publicidad, prensa e incluso artículos de diseño. Finalmente, la ilustración es un vehículo más para hacer llegar ideas, sueños, denuncias y un sinfín de otros mensajes que como artistas queremos transmitir.The catalogue you have in hand corresponds to a some of the works we developed during the postgraduate programme, which are part of the end of course group show we’ve titled Retrato hablado. This title seeks to highlight what the illustration generates as a dialogue between the idea of drawing and what is drawn, between what the artist wants to say and what the viewer is constantly interpreting. We also hope to deliver the message that illustration is a job, at the service of ideas and messages, constantly interacting and reflecting contemporary society. This relationship occurs in every category of illustration, from picture books, through advertising, press or even design objects. In the end illustration is a vehicle to express ideas, dreams, protests and the myriad of messages that we, as creators, want to manifest

No full textEl objetivo de este trabajo es crear un sistema que mejore la experiencia de usuario del transporte público de Barcelona, en concreto del metro. La idea nace al ver que a sus clientes no se les da la suficiente atención en un sector donde son lo más importante. Sin ellos el servicio no funcionaria. Así pues, siendo un servicio público y en una ciudad como Barcelona, la cual ha sido nombrada como la mejor urbe del mundo en movilidad según el ranking Best Cities to Expore Index, no debería presentar debilidades. Debería ir un paso por delante, mejorando y atendiendo las necesidades de todos los usuarios, desde el principio hasta el final del trayecto. La metodología utilizada para el desarrollo de este proyecto, ha sido la investigación de campo. La observación, las entrevistas, las encuestas y los test darán una visión más certera.The objective of this project is to create a system that improves the user’s experience of public transportation in Barcelona, specifically the metro. The idea was born after witnessing the general neglect of the regular public transport users on a daily basis. Bluntly speaking, without these people the service would and could not work. Therefore the metro being a public service and in a city like Barcelona, which has been named as the best city in the world in mobility according to the Best Cities to Expore Index, faults should be minimal. The transport system should, rather, be one step ahead, improving and meeting the needs of all users, from the very beginning of the journey to the very end. The methodology used for the development of this project has been field research. The observations, interviews, surveys and tests will provide a more accurate view

Get PDFThis research project primarily focuses on how to confront architectural and colonial symbols of the state’s power through Afro-Indigenous spiritual markers and performance. This essay begins with questions about my own reality in the Diaspora and the existential, cultural crisis that arises in myself due to structural racism and misogyny. Moving forward, an effort in understanding how this crisis comes to fruition, I contextualize race from a primarily Latin American and Hispano-Caribbean perspective, then to an understanding of the controlling images that affect the material reality of Black women’s lives in the present day. Subsequently, I reference Black women’s artistic practice across material and form from varying geographical locations in the diaspora in order to understand how to develop my own practice within these themes. Their works are analyzed through a hermeneutic circle that centers intesectionality in order to be precise about race, gender and ethnicity and how these factors affect the readings and histories behind the works. Lastly, my own practice and questions are documented, all which lead to my own performance work in direct response to a monument building with a direct history to Puerto Rico’s colonial history
From scribes to types : the inspirations and influences for the first movable types
Get PDFThis research is about exploring the period before and after the invention of the printing press. The journey that the first scripts made to be turned into movable type. The research consists of investigating and mapping the scripts that were chosen. The thesis has an analytical view on each journey. Historical background, æsthetical influences, models, characteristics and comparison are criteria that have been investigated for each of these scripts. This research shed light on the aspects of the transition from script to moveable type and proves that the cultural and historical context, aesthetically choices play as important role as technical reasons for movable type to come to life. Knowing that as a type designer will help me to first understand and second revitalize the unexplored ideas in old scripts and typefaces

No full textEl co-habitatge pot arribar a ser una eina de transformació que generi solucions que protegeixin i restaurin els ecosistemes socials i els entorns urbans a partir de la creació de relacions de benefici mutu entre persones, la seva activitat, i el seu entorn. Agafant com a punt de partida habitatges comunitaris, la intenció d'aquest projecte és donar resposta a la gestió que es fa de la disponibilitat d'espais comunitaris i optimitzar l'ús que se'n fa per tal de reduïr despeses. S'analitzaran les seves necessitats i es desenvoluparà una plataforma digital, juntament amb un dispositiu de domòtica, per tal de millorar l'ús dels espais col·lectivitzats i l'experiència quotidiana dels co-habitants.Cooperative housing can be a transformation tool which helps generating solutions that protect and restore social ecosystems and urban enviroments through the creation of relationships of mutual benefit between people, the things they do, and their environment. Taking community homes as a starting point, the main focus of the project is to give response to the communal supplies management and help reduce the bills in this increasing way of living. I will analyze their needs and develop a digital platform that can give the user a pleasant and practical experience while sharing supplies in the communal home spaces. I will also add a home automation sensor to improve its daily use

No full textAquest llibre commemora els 15 anys dels cursos de tipografia a Eina. Han estat 15 edicions de durades i continguts diferents però que sempre han considerat la lletra com la manera per entendre i construir la pàgina. Les primeres tres edicions no van tenir cap mena de tiulació per després passar a un postgrau i finalment a un màster de títol propi de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. A les pàgines següents, trobareu les dates, la llista de professors i la llista d’alumnes de cada curs i, a continuació, una tria de treballs destacats d’alguns alumnes que han cursat els estudis. En fer aquesta publicació, un cop acabada la tria, és quan ens hem adonat de la importància d’allò que ha deixat el curs i de com de diferents són els ambits relacionats amb la lletra.Este libro conmemora los 15 años de los cursos de tipografía en Eina. Han sido 15 ediciones de duraciones y contenidos diferentes pero que siempre han considerado la letra como la forma de entender y construir la página. Las primeras tres ediciones no tuvieron forma de titulación alguna, para después pasar a un posgrado y finalmente a un máster de título propio en la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Encontraréis en la siguientes páginas las fechas, la lista de profesores y la lista de alumnos de cada curso, y a continuación una selección de trabajos destacados de quienes pasaron por los cursos. Al hacer esta publicación, una vez terminada la selección, es cuando nos hemos dado cuenta de cómo de importante es lo que ha dejado el curso y de cómo de diferentes son los ámbitos relacionados con la letra.This book commemorates 15 years of typography courses at Eina. These courses have had different lengths and contents, but all have considered the letter as the key to understanding and building the page. For the first three years, there was no formal degree attached to the program, but Typography later became a postgraduate degree and finally an accredited Master´s degree from Autonomous University of Barcelona. In the following pages you’ll find the dates, professors and students of each year of the program, followed by a selection of outstanding projects. Putting this publication together was a reminder of just how important this course is, and of the many different ways there are of thinking about letters
Hacer filosofía : hacia una razón performativa
No full textEl trabajo que aquí se presenta pretende ser una Investigación en filosofía a través del arte y el diseño. Con el fin de rozar si quiera este propósito, se ha escogido el método creativo propio de la retórica como esqueleto cognoscitivo. Así, será en la inventio donde se investigará al estudiante de filosofía entendiendo a este como aquél que inscrito en un deseo siempre renovado, busca no satisfacer ese amor al saber sino alimentarlo. Para traducir este decir en un hacer, se propone en la dispositio una programación para 1º de bachillerato donde a través de una serie de conceptos y de sus contrarios, se piensen estos no solo por medio de la filosofía sino desde otras disciplinas como la música, el arte, el diseño, el cine y la literatura. En la elocutio, nos convertiremos en OuFiPianos para crear un manifiesto o poema lógico. En la memoria cartografiaremos el pensamiento de la herramienta Manual Thinking para finalmente, en la actio, acercarnos a una razón performativa que aunando las tres formas de saber aristotélicas: theoria, praxis y poiesis sustente este “Hacer filosofía”.This academic research aims to be a philosophical investigation through art and design. Expecting to approach this idea, the rhetorical creative method has been chosen as a cognoscitive framework. Therefore, the inventio will be the part where the philosophy students are going to be investigated, taking them as individuals who are enrolled in a constantly renewed desire, that don´t seek to satisfy this love for wisdom, but to feed it instead. In order to transform this words into action, there is a proposal for high school students in the dispositio which uses several concepts and their contraries, these concepts may be thought not only through philosophy, but also through other disciplines like music, art, design, cinema and literature. In the elocutio, we will convert ourselves in OuFiPianos in order to create a manifest or logical poem. In the memoria we will map the understanding of the Manual Thinking tool, to finally, in the actio, get as close as possible toa performative reason which links the three Aristotelian forms of knowing: theoria, praxis and poiesis support

No full textContar historias es algo que todos hacemos puesto que, todos, somos capaces de visualizar, ilustrar y dar color a las cosas que surgen en nuestra imaginación. Incluso la pregunta “¿como llegué a leer esto?”, nos invita a un viaje narrativo que implica construir y retocar el mundo que nos rodea, ofreciéndonos pensar otras realidades posibles ¡y colorearlas! Un acto que nos posibilita mostrar quiénes somos y, a la vez, ocultarnos. ¿Qué mostramos y qué nos guardamos para nosotras? ¿Qué exaltamos y qué dejamos en silencio? Como se suele decir… “¡Ponle color!” O, tal vez, “no tanto”.
Al ilustrar somos libres de llevar nuestro trabajo hasta el punto que queramos. Eso sí, siempre considerando a nuestros lectores, menores de edad pero mayores en imaginación. ¿Cómo nos ponemos a su altura? Utilizamos las imágenes para mostrar la subjetividad de las emociones y pensamientos que todos compartimos… y buscamos conectar con nuestros lectores y su mirada inocente. Esta exposición de 22 ilustradoras es la culminación del Curso de Especialización en Publicaciones Infantiles y Juveniles de EINA. Es un cuento que se acaba, para llevarnos a un nuevo inicio del mismo modo en que un niño o niña responde con entusiasmo y ansias al “colorín colorado”, para volver a comenzar con un nuevo libro que se abre. O para releer, por milésima vez, el mismo que ha llegado a su fin. ¡Bienvenidas y bienvenidos a Colorín Coloradas!Explicar històries és quelcom que tots fem, ja que tots som capaços de visualitzar, il·lustrar i donar color a les coses que sorgeixen a la nostra imaginació. Fins i tot la pregunta “Com he arribat a llegir això?”, ens convida a un viatge narratiu que implica construir i retocar el món que ens rodeja, oferint-nos pensar altres realitats possibles, i acolorir-les! Un acte que ens possibilita mostrar qui som i, al mateix temps, ocultar-nos. Què mostrem i què ens guardem per a nosaltres? Què exaltem i que deixem en silenci? Com es sol dir… “Posa color!” O, potser, “no tant”. Al il·lustrar som lliures de portar la nostra feina fins al punt en què vulguem. Això sí, sempre considerant als nostres lectors, menors d’edat, però majors en imaginació. Com ens posem a la seva alçada? Utilitzem les imatges per mostrar la subjectivitat de les emocions i pensaments que tots compartim… i busquem connectar amb els nostres lectors i la seva mirada innocent. Aquesta exposició de 22 il·lustradores és la culminació del Curs d’Especialització en Publicacions Infantils i Juvenils d’EINA. És un conte que s’acaba, per portar-nos a un nou inici de la mateixa manera en què un nen o nena respon amb entusiasme i ganes al “colorín colorado”, per tornar a començar amb un nou llibre que s’obre. O per rellegir, per mil·lèsima vegada, el mateix que ha arribat a la seva fi. Benvingudes i benvinguts a Colorín Coloradas!Telling stories is something that we have all done. We are able to visualize, illustrate, and give color to all of the things that rise from our imagination. Even the question, “How did I end up reading this?“ invites us to a narrative journey that involves the construction and a way of brushing up the world around us, offering the opportunity for us to give color to infinite other realities. It allows us to show who we really are but, at the same time, disguise us. What do we show and what do we keep for ourselves? What do we exalt and what do we leave in silence? There is a push and pull of “Give it some Color!“ and “not that much“. Illustrating gives us the freedom to take our work to the point we want. Always having our readers in mind, they may be young, but their imagination is limitless. How do we connect with them? We use images to show the subjectivity of the emotions and thoughts that we all share and we seek to connect with our readers and their innocent way of seeing life. This exhibition of 22 illustrators is the culmination of the Specialization Course of Publications for Childrens and Juveniles of EINA. The end of this story leads us to a new beginning. In the same way a child responds with enthusiasm and eagerness to the “Snip, snap snout, this tale‘s told out“ (Colorín Colorado), they could start reading a new book or reread this one for the thousandth time!
