The Transformation of Islamic Economics in The Digital Era: An Analysis of Islamic Fintech and Financial Inclusion in Indonesia

The rapid expansion of Indonesia’s digital economy has transformed Islamic financial services through the emergence of sharia-compliant financial technologies, including Islamic peer-to-peer lending, equity crowdfunding, e-wallets, and digital zakat platforms. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic fintech in enhancing financial inclusion in Indonesia and to evaluate its implications for Islamic economic development within the framework of maqasid al-shariah. Employing a qualitative descriptive method based on recent academic literature, regulatory documents, and statistical reports (2020-2024), the findings indicate that Islamic fintech significantly contributes to expanding financial access, particularly among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), women-led businesses, and rural communities previously underserved by conventional banking. However, the sector still faces major challenges, including fragmented regulations, low Islamic financial literacy, cybersecurity concerns, and limited institutional capacity in digital risk management. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated analysis of Islamic fintech from both a financial inclusion and Islamic legal-ethical perspective, emphasizing how value-based finance can complement digital innovation in Indonesia’s financial ecosystem. The study concludes that strengthening digital literacy, sharia compliance, data protection systems, and ecosystem collaboration between regulators, Islamic financial institutions, and technology providers is crucial for realizing inclusive Islamic digital finance in accordance with the objectives of maqasid al-shariah

This study aims to analyze the forms and roles of inter-stakeholder collaboration in efforts to increase community participation and independence in the management of the Mina Padi Tourism Village in Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency. The research approach used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The stakeholders involved included the village government, tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis), local communities, academics, and the private sector. The results show that the multi-stakeholder collaboration that has been established contributes to increased community participation in planning, implementation, and evaluation of agriculture-based tourism activities (rice). In addition, synergy among stakeholders encourages economic independence through strengthening community capacity, tourism product innovation, and business diversification based on local potential. However, this study also found that the sustainability of collaboration still faces challenges in coordination, role distribution, and consistency of support from external parties. No full text
This study aims to examine the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, inflation, the BI 7-Day Repo Rate (BI7DRR), and Credit Interest Rates on Non-Performing Loans (NPL) at Commercial Banks in Indonesia, both partially and simultaneously. This quantitative research, which explores rare phenomena such as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and empirical findings that partially reject the hypothesis and the loanable funds theory, offers novelty compared to previous studies. Using secondary data from March 2020 to March 2022 obtained from Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, and the Central Statistics Agency, this study applies multiple regression analysis with SPSS for Windows, employing t-tests, F-tests, and adjusted R² to measure the impact on NPL. The results show that partially, the Covid-19 pandemic and inflation do not affect NPL, while BI7DRR has a negative effect of 0.513% and Credit Interest Rates have a positive effect of 0.367% on NPL. Simultaneously, these four variables influence NPL by 52.2%, suggesting that Ho₅ is accepted and Ha₅ is rejected, which can be attributed to government and central bank fiscal policies as well as commercial bank credit relief programs for debtors. These findings imply the need for synergy among commercial banks, the central bank, and the government to navigate macroeconomic uncertainties through careful BI7DRR adjustments, competitive lending rates, credit restructuring, and stringent debtor evaluation, while encouraging debtors to enhance productivity and make well-informed credit decisions to prevent future NPL surges

A crucial aspect of Islamic banking activities is the existence of contracts, which are agreements that bind the parties in financial transactions. However, in practice, there are legal risks arising from unclear contracts, differences in legal interpretation, and non-compliance with regulations. This risk can have an impact on the operational stability of Islamic banks and reduce public trust. The purpose of this study is to examine the forms of legal risks in Islamic bank contracts and their risk management mitigation strategies. The methodology used is a qualitative approach based on a literature analysis related to Islamic banking regulations, fatwas, and practices in Indonesia. The Silent Communication of Penghayat Kepercayaan: Identity Negotiation and Co-cultural Strategies in a Muslim-Majority Community

This research highlights the paradox of pluralism in Indonesia, where Penghayat Kepercayaan (indigenous faith practitioners) frequently employ defensive communication strategies despite having constitutional guarantees. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of \u27Silent Communication\u27 within the Paguyuban Budaya Bangsa (PBB) community in Kebumen as a mechanism for identity negotiation amidst a Muslim-majority society. Utilizing a qualitative collective case study approach framed by Co-Cultural Theory and Impression Management, this research dissects how minority groups construct communication boundaries. The findings demonstrate that this community adopts \u27Pseudo-Administrative Affiliation\u27 and \u27Digital Silence\u27 as primary survival strategies. Furthermore, the study identifies an internal \u27Spiral of Silence\u27 within the organization that obstructs leadership regeneration and reveals that the younger generation continues to practice self-censorship in digital spaces despite achieving legal recognition. This research concludes that minority silence is not merely a cultural trait but a structural response to social insecurity, necessitating an ethical shift from the majority group to foster inclusive dialogue. Moreover, the Muslim community—theologically anchored by the principles of la ikraha fiddin (no compulsion in religion), qaulan layyinan (gentle speech), and haqqul jawar (the rights of neighbors)—is challenged to actualize these values in daily practice, spanning administrative policies, social interactions, and digital media ethics

This article analyzes the differences in zakat management in Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, as well as the challenges faced and the solutions offered. Indonesia, with the largest Muslim population in the world, has a zakat system managed by the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) and private zakat institutions. On the other hand, Brunei Darussalam, as a country that comprehensively implements Islamic law, manages zakat through centralized government institutions. The main differences lie in the organizational structure, collection mechanisms, distribution, and accountability of zakat. The main challenges in Indonesia include the lack of public awareness, transparency, and coordination among zakat institutions. In Brunei, the challenges are more focused on adjusting the zakat system to economic and social changes. This article offers solutions to address these challenges, such as increasing zakat literacy, strengthening information technology for transparency, and enhancing cooperation between the government and private institutions in Indonesia. For Brunei, the solutions include adjusting zakat policies to be responsive to economic dynamics and increasing public participation in the zakat system. This research is expected to provide insights for developing more effective zakat management in both countries, as well as contribute to global zakat literatur
