    IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY THROUGH THE USE OF DICTOGLOSS TECHNIQUE

    Dalam proses belajar-mengajar bahasa Inggris terdapat empat keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh pembelajar, yaitu listening, speaking, reading, dan writing. Salah satu keterampilan yang dianggap sebagian pembelajar bahasa Inggris sebagai keterampilan tersulit untuk dikuasai adalah writing. Salah satu teknik yang dapat digunakan untuk pengajaran writing adalah teknik dictogloss. Tahap reconstruction pada teknik dictogloss memfasilitasi pembelajar untuk merekonstruksi teks yang telah disampaikan dengan mempergunakan bahasa mereka sendiri. Selanjutnya, tahap correction-analysis menyediakan feedback yang memfasilitasi pembelajar untuk mengoreksi kesalahan-kesalahan pada aspek-aspek writing, seperti content, organization, language use, dan mechanics.Kata kunci: assessing writing, dictogloss technique, writing

    There are many obstacle faced in teaching learning of Bahasa Indonesia in Junior High School. Therefore, a repairement of teaching learning model which is acellerated with students’ condition and needs is needed. One alternative learning model that can be used is aplying Self Evaluation and Coaching Training model for students who have different level of independent. Self Evaluation model wich aplyed on students with have high level of independent has the average 88.33, on Students’ with low independent showed the average 67.92.  Coaching Training model wich aplyed on students with have high level of independent has the average 69,17, on Students’ with low independent showed the average 75,50. The data proves that self-evaluation model is suitable implemented for students who have high level of independent, and  coaching-training model is suitable for students with low level of independent.Keywords : Reporting a news, Model, Self-Evaluation, Coaching-Training, Independence.

    Alas! A space, in this case the urban forest, primary considered as public domain which presence is potentially significant as the established-natural-ecology is read but a subject, or valuable entity by investors who want to take over the site to be used as a commercial enterprise promoting economic benefits. The former even tend to deny the historical values and issues on earth-conservation. The complexity of the struggle to win the dispute between the investors, brings the notion of the anthropocentric agenda with local inhabitants over an area which is home to scarce vegetation and indigenous animals, as well as water spring at the heart of Malang City becomes the main awareness excavated by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim through her work, Lemah Tanjung. Through the perspective of Postcolonial Ecocriticism, the particular point presented in this paper is how Ecological Imperialism is narrated and presented in the novel? The discussion found several indications that Lemah Tanjung, the name of the disputed-place is attributed to and positioned as an alien or other which should not be maintained. It is exploited due to the ‘development’ by investors, teamed-up with the bureaucrat.     This research was aimed to review the developing of bahasa Indonesia learning model integrated to the anticorruption education in the 7thgrade 1st semester of 1 Tembarak State Junior High School. The subject of the research was the semester 1 students of 1 Tembarak State Junior High School. The number of the participant was 40. The research was started by analyzing the students’ need by means of delivering the questionnaire and doing interview sessions. The aim of the research was to generate a product, in this case, abahasa Indonesia learning model integrated with anti-corruption education.The researcher conducted several steps in analyzing the data namely taking inventory of the data based on the overall findings, classifying the data, identifying the data based on the found special characteristics, and having reflection. The developmental research was the development of learning model in the form of bahasa Indonesia learning material linked to the anti-corruption education. The learning model of bahasa Indonesia that had been integrated with the anti-corruption education was tested to the students in the subject class. The result of the test was evaluated in order to see the product effectiveness.     DEIXIS ANALYSIS ON INDONESIAN SHAKESPEARE’S COMICS STRIP OF JULIUS CAESAR

    Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ekspresi deiksis yang digunakan pada komik Julius Caesar dan untuk mengetahui frekuensi penggunaan ekspresi deiksis. Objek penelitian ini adalah tokoh-tokoh utama dalam komik seperti Caesar, Brutus, and Cassius. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menerapkan tahapan Miles dan Huberman (1994) yaitu reduksi data, display data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa deiksis personal digunakan secara dominan pada setiap bab dengan penggunaan rata-rata di atas 90% daripada deiksis tempat, waktu, wacana, dan sosial, dimana komik merupakan wujud bahasa lisan yang dituliskan.Kata kunci: Semantics, deixis, written text, spoken tex

    Dalam menerjemahkan sebuah novel, perubahan tema-rema terjemahan dapat mempengaruhi hasil terjemahan, terlebih lagi dari sisi keluasan makna yang dinilai dari segi keluasan makna secara tekstual. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskrispsikan variasi keluasan makna secara textual di The Curious Case of Benjamin Button F. S. Fitzgerald dan Kisah Aneh Benjamin F. Chotimah  dan untuk mendeskripsikan kategori variasi keluasan makna secara textual yang sering muncul (2) untuk mendeskripsikan teks yang memiliki derajat keluasan makna secara tekstual lebih tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data diambil dari novel The Curious Case of Benjamin Button oleh F. S. Fitzgerald dan terjemahan dari novel tersebut Kisah Aneh Benjamin oleh F. Chotimah. Pengukuran variasi tematik menentukan tingkatan  keluasan makna tekstual yang terdapat di novel terjemahan. Kesimpulan yang bisa diambil (1) variasi secara umum terjadi di variasi skala 1 dan yang paling sering muncul adalah variasi skala “0” (2)ditemukan bahwa 65.76% dari keseluruhan data mempunyai kesamaan derajat keluasan makna.Kata kunci    : variasi tematik, variasi keluasan makna secara tekstual, penerjemahan, sistemik fungsional,

    This research aimed at (1) identifying the realization of prohibition utterances and (2) exploring the local wisdom functions and values in the form of prohibiting utterances. In this research, I used pragmatic approach. The data used in this research were prohibition utterances consisting local wisdom values done by standard Javanese dialect speaker (2) and the reseponses to the functions and meaning of the utterances. The subject of the study were  Javanese speakers in Solo, Yogyakarta, and Magelang. The instruments were (1) the observation manual and interview manual. The spoken utterances were collected by metode simak dan metode cakap as well as teknik dasar sadap, pancing, dan teknik lanjutan simak libat cakap, teknik rekam, dan teknik catat. In analysing the data, I used metode padan dan metode agih. Thus, the realisation of prohibition utterances was found in the two forms including prohibition utterances with its consequences and prohibition utterances with non consequences. In constructing utterances, the Javanese speakers use phatic marker such as oalah, eh, loh, wah, hus to limit and affirm the meaning of the utterances. The realization of the Javanese prohibition utterances were delivered in ngoko form. This is because its functions as advices from elderly to young people. The speech acts uttered by Javanese were (1) as a form of local wisdom of the speakers and (2) as the form of preserving Javanese language and culture.     ANALISIS WACANA ‘WHAT’S UP WITH MONAS?’ DENGAN PENDEKATAN LINGUISTIK SISTEMIK FUNGSIONAL.

    The aims of this research are (1) to analyze metafunction in the discourse, (2) to analyze interdependent and logico semantic meaning, and (3) to analyze the nominal group in the discourse. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data in this research was the discourse entitled What’s up with Monas?. The data was analyzed by using Systemic Functional Linguistic approach. This research found 19 clause of indicative-declarative in the discourse. Interpersonally, the writer of this discourse plays his role to give information to the reader. Ideationally, the researcher found that material process dominated the discourse. The circumstance that found was circumstance of time and place. Textually, unmarked topical theme was dominated the discourse. From interdependent and logico semantic relationship, the researcher found that clause complex appeared more often than simple clauses. This relationship influences the style of the discourse. Moreover, in nominal group, there were 8 nominal groups with classifier, 3 nominal groups with epithet and 9 nominal groups with qualifier.  From the analysis above, we can conclude that the discourse in this research include to news item.     Tindak Ilokusi Ekspresif Dalam Komik Big Bad Wolf: The Baddest Day dan Terjemahannya

    This article focuses on analyzing of expressive illocutionary act in the Big Bad Wolf: The Baddest Day comic and its translation Serigala Jahat: Hari Terburuk. Besides, classifying the type of expressive illocutionary actin the comic, it is also studied the techniques used by translator in translating expressive illocutionary act from source text to the target text. By using techniques used by translator, it could be seen the quality of translation in the term of accuracy of translation.This is descriptive qualitative research in the form of embedded research with single-case study design.The data collecting was conducted through content analysis.In this research it can be found that there are 31 expressive illocutionary act in the Big Bad Wolf: The Baddest Day comic and its translation Serigala Jahat: Hari Terburuk. The 61% of the data are considered as accurate translation, and the 31% of the data are considered as less accurate translation. It can be concluded that in translating expressive illocutionary act in a comic, it can not only look at the utterances of the speaker, but also the visualization and the context situation of the picture in the comic.Keywords:speech act, illocutionary, expressive illocutionary act, translating comic, translation accuracy.
