THE TEACHING WRITING APPROACHES: GENRE: SOLUTION TOWARD “UN†READING TEST PHENOMENON
Kemampuan menulis Bahasa Inggris adalah salah satu kemampuan berbahasa yang dianggap paling kompleks karena melibatkan berbagai kemampuan kognitif dan linguistik. Secara konvensional, pembelajaran menulis dilakukan dengan pendekatan genre dimana siswa mengembangkan karangan secara bertahap mulai dari penggalian ide hingga merevisi karangan. Proses itu sendiri tidak terlalu jelas tahapannya, namun secara umum meliputi kegiatan penggalian ide, penyusunan draf, dan perbaikan/revisi. Pengamatan perhadap pembelajaran menulis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pemantauan yang pasti terhadap proses menulis, dalam arti, proses yang dilakukan dengan susah payah tersebut hanya diakui melalui penilaian terhadap produknya, yaitu draf terakhir atau hasil karangan. Dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, menulis paragrap merupakan keterampilan yang paling mudah diukur dengan menggunakan test obyektif sehingga paling banyak digunakan dalam Ujian, seperti Ujian Nasional, Ujian Tengah Semester, Ujian Akhir Semester, Ujian Kenaikan Kelas, dan bahkan Ulangan Harian. Ini membuktikan bahwa kemampuan menulis harus dipandang sebagai keterampilan yang sangat penting sehingga peserta didik perlu mendapat pembelajaran yang baik supaya mereka mahir dalam memahami wacana berbahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: Teaching Writing, Genre Approaches, “UN†Reading TestÂ
Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Terintegrasi Dengan Pendidikan Karakter Pada Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia SD Kelas IV
This study was research and development. This research and development was based on unavailibility of Indonesian language teaching materials based on the character value. Whereas, it is very essential and important for primary students to develop their character. This research was aimed at developing a product in form of Indonesian language teaching material which was integrated with character value. The development of the product in this study was done by combining steps from Kemps model and Borg and gall consisting of: (1) potential and problems, (2) data collection, (3) design product (prototype) (4) validation, (5) product revision (6) main field testing, (7) revision. The result of this research revealed that the product was good and proper to be used to teach Indonesian language in primary school grade 4.Keywords: character education, teaching materials, development mode
VALIDITAS BUKU SANTUN BERBAHASA UNTUK INTERAKSI PENGASUHAN BERBAHASA ANAK JALANAN DI RUMAH SINGGAH
This study aims to (1) describe the validity of language-based booklets for the interaction of homeless children street nursing in shelter homes; (2) to explain the response of street children and carers to the use of language-based books for the interaction of homeless children street nursing in shelter homes; and (3) explain the homeless children understanding of courtesy in the interaction of language nurturing.This research is Reseacrh and Development research with research step adopted from Borg and Gall with modification. The first step includes preliminary studies, theoretical studies, and needs analysis. The second step is to do product development. The third step is to test or validate the product developed to the expert. The final step includes a limited and extensive product trial. Language booklets for homeless Children language interaction in shelter homes will be validated by three validators, psychologists, resource specialists and linguists. Assessment is done by using the materials assessment sheet according to BSNP. A limited-scale trial was conducted on 13 homeless children with the aim of obtaining some suggestions on language-based booklets for homeless children street social interaction in shelter homes.The validation results of the three validators showed the Scores of 137, 128, and 143 of the total score of 160, so that the results of the assessment were included in eligible and reasonable criteria. The result of t-test shows that the value of t-count 2,395 t-table 1,994. This means that there is a significant difference in mean score of pretest post-test improvement of experimental group and control group. Street children and caregivers also responded positively to the use of language-based booklets for homeless children in shelter homes.Keywords: Teaching Material Books, Courtesy, Parenting, Homeless Children, Shelter

NILAI-NILAI RELIGIUS PADA LIRIK LAGU KETIKA TANGAN DAN KAKI BERKATA KARYA TAUFIQ ISMAIL DAN APLIKASINYA PADA MATA KULIAH PENULISAN KREATIF DI PRODI PBSI, FKIP, UNISSULA
This descriptive study was conducted to describe religious values in lyrics of Taufiq Ismail’s song “Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata” and its usage in a learning because religious value, as one of 18 character values mentioned by the Ministry of National Education, had not been discussed further in studies. The song was created by Taufiq Ismail with Surah Yasin verse 65 as the inspiration. The research method used was descriptive analytic method including 4 stages, namely 1) grouping data, 2) studying lyrics, 3) interpreting song lyrics, and 4) drawing conclusion. Based on the analysis result, it could be concluded that religious values contained in “Ketika Tangan dan Kaki Berkata” lyrics were shiddiq, amanah, fathanah, and tabligh. These religious values were then applied to Creative Writing (Penulisan Kreatif) course in Indonesian Language and Literature Education Department, Sultan Agung Islamic University. In the next research, results of this study analysis will be developed into Creative Writing course materials. Eventually, this study did not only analyze the religious values in the song lyrics, but also applied them in the lecture and used them as islamic-based teaching materials.Keywords: religious values, song lyrics, creative writin
Peningkatan Motivasi dan Kemampuan Menulis Puisi Melalui Teknik Timlo Aplikasi Copy The Master Peserta Didik Kelas VIII A SMP N 3 Sragi Kabupaten Pekalongan
This researcher was motivated to conduct this study because of the less ability of the leaener to write poetry. It coud be seen from the average score of the pretest of poetry writing which only reached 73. The purpose of the study was to improve motivation and the learning result of poetry writing in the students of VIIIA of SMPN 3 Sragi, Pekalongan by applying Timlo aplication of Copy the Master Technique. The method used in this Class Action Research was using two cycles. The subjects were 32 students of class VIII A. The result showed that there was a significant improvement in learning the technique of poetry wriring. The average score of pretest was 73. After the applying Timlo technique, the average score of the cycle I was 79.88 and it increased in the cycle II to 84.00. The increasing score from the pretest to the first cycle was 68.8%. Meanwhile, the increasing score from cycle I to cycle II was 41.2%. In addition, there was an increasing motivation of the students for learning to poetry writing. ASSESSING STUDENTS ACTIVENESS AND THEIR CHARACTER BUILDING IN SPEAKING COURSE OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
Mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, dipersiapkan menjadi guru Bahasa Inggris dan mereka akan menjadi model bagi siswa. Namun demikian fakta menunjukkan beberapa guru pemula tidak dapat berbicara Bahasa Inggris dengan lancar dan tepat. Berkaitan dengan tuntutan jaman, abad 21 ini adalah era yang kekuatan suatu bangsa ditentukan oleh kualitas sumber daya manusia. Menyadari fakta tersebut, pemerintah Indonesia memperhatikan kualitas hasil pendidikan.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keaktifan siswa dalam perkuliahan Speaking dan untuk mendeskripsikan pendidikan karakter dalam perkuliahan Speaking. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggambarkan kondisi nyata perkuliahan Speaking 1 di prodi. Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Tidar. Subyek penelitian ini 30 mahasiswa semester 2 yang mengambil mata kuliah Speaking. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah dosen Speaking 1 di prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, kegiatan belajar mengajar, dan dokumen termasuk silabus, RPP, dan dokumen lain yang relevan.Berdasarkan analisis data, peneliti menyimpulkan pertama mahasiswa kurang aktif dalam kelas Speaking sehingga keterampilan berbicara mereka rendah, kedua nilai karakter mahasiswa kurang dikembangkan dengan baik khususnya pada nilai kerjasama, kejujuran dan toleransi.Keywords: Speaking Course, Activeness, Character Buildin
PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS HURUF JAWA DENGAN MEDIA BALAPAN “BEDHEKAN WANGSALAN PRAPATAN†PADA SISWA KELAS VII F SMP NEGERI 4 KOTA MAGELANG
Wangsalan has the potential interest of students in learning the Java language since it has elements of games and entertainment. Bedhekan items in wangsalan can be arranged in the form of crossword puzzles or in Javanese language better known with the term prapatan. The composition of the bedhekan wangsalan in the later abbreviated BALAPAN (Bedhekan Wangsalan Prapatan). The use of this medium can be used as an alternative to the Java language learning techniques, including writing letters to fill in the fields using the Java letters of Java. The Media is expected to overcome boredom and a sense of saturation of students in the learning process. Learning to write Java letter with the media BALAPAN can improve the ability of students in writing letters of Java. This is evident from the results of the study showed that the average value of Pracycle, The Cycle I, and Cycle II has increased. The average value of Pracycle of the I and the Cycle of 59,29 74,46 or increased by 25.6%. The value of the Cycle I and Cycle II 74,46 $ 86.25% 15,83 or increased. Overall improvement of writing skills of Java Pracycle letter to the Cycle II experienced an increase of 45,28%. Behavior change in the learning activities of students also experience a change to the better. A learning recreatif media is able to encourage the interest and motivation of students at the time of learning. USING SCAFFOLDING TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE THE SPEAKING SKILL OF THE SECOND SEMESTER STUDENTS OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
Ada anggapan bahwa pengetahuan kebahasaan seseorang diukur dari kemampuan berbicara. Berbicara adalah sarana yang mendasar dalam komunikasi manusia, demikian juga mahasiswa Bahasa Inggris, mereka juga dituntut untuk bisa berbicara dalam Bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Parameter seorang pembelajar Bahasa Inggris adalah kemampuannya berbicara secara lancar. Namun kenyataan menunjukkan bahwa banyak pembelajar yang tidak bisa berbicara dengan tepat dan lancar walaupun sudah belajar selama 6 tahun.Capaian ketrampilan berbicara pembelajar dipengaruhi beberapa faktor, yaitu faktor eksternal dan internal. Motivasi adalah satu dari faktor internal yang berperan penting dalam kesuksesan belajar. Faktor yang berikutnya adalah teknik yang digunakan oleh guru.Scaffolding adalah suatu jembatan yang menghubungkan pengetahuan yang dimiliki dengan hal yang belum diketahui. Jika dilaksanakan dengan baik, scaffolding akan menjadi daya yang memicu pembelajar untuk menguasai sesuatu. Dalam proses ini pembimbing memfasilitasi pembelajar untuk menguasai konsep yang tidak dapat dikuasai pembelajar. Pembimbing tidak hanya memberikan bantuan tetapi juga harus sebisa mungkin memberikan kebebasan bagi pembelajar untuk menyelesaikan tugas-tugas secara mandiri. Ketika pembelajar sudah bisa bertanggung jawab atau menyelesaikan suatu tugas secara mandiri, maka pembimbing secara bertahap menjauh dan memberikan kebebasan untuk belajar secara mandiri. Keyword : Scaffolding Technique, Speaking Skil
NILAI BUDAYA LOKAL DALAM CERPEN WARUNG “PENAJEM” DAN RELEVANSINYA DALAM PENGAJARAN SASTRA DI PERGURUAN TINGGI
Rapid modernization may step the local culture down unwittingly. Without a strong defense, that local culture will be eroded and disappeared sooner or later. The efforts are needed to keep the local culture and make it more recognizable to the world. It is true that culture is nation identity, so if the local culture more and more steps down, the nation has no identity. One of the milestone defenses is youth because they will continue the life of the nation. In the effort of keeping the local culture, the knowledge about culture has to be reviewed in every field, including in educational field. Local culture in educational field can be presented in literary work to interest the reader. Literary work which is reflected society’s life can be a device to keep local culture. The short story entitled Warung “Penajem” is one of literary works contained local culture of Javanese society.
