    Peningkatan Motivasi dan Prestasi Belajar Menulis Teks Eksposisi Menggunakan Model Discokaku Dipadu Gambar Berseri di SMA Negeri 5 Magelang

    This research was aimed to investigate students' motivation and their learning achievement in writing exposition texts. To seek the answer, we used discokaku teaching method and pictorial series. This study was carried out under classroom action research. We implemented three main stages of pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II, each cycle using three meetings. The participants were 10th graders of SMA Negeri 5 Magelang. The data were attained from test and non-test techniques. The test technique deployed (1) Kahoot! for assessing their understanding and (2) pictorial series for the writing test. For the non-test, this study adopted some qualitative instruments: journal, observation, interview, and documentation. The result shows that discokaku teaching method and pictorial series were able to improve students’ motivation from 23.47% to 33.87% and their achievement from 3.13% to 78.13% at the end of the cycle 2

    This research is aimed to (1) identify the noun phrases of the endangered traditional farming tools, (2) explain the values of local wisdom which are reflected in traditional farming tools in Java, and (3) explain the efforts that can be done to conserve the noun phrases of the endangered traditional farming tools in Java. The research data consist of many kinds of noun phrases of traditional farming tools in Java in every speech act by the traditional farmer from Javanese ethnic that is gotten from the interview and observation in Magelang district and Sleman district. The verbal data were collected with an observation method. The result of this research showed that 46.3% respondent knew any number of noun phrases in the questionnaire. In reverse, 53.7% respondent did not know any number of noun phrases in the questionnaire. The local wisdom found in this research were the meanings from the noun phrases of traditional farming tools in Java. The meanings have certain values of local wisdom with the beneficial aims for human life.  Furthermore, the efforts that can be done to conserve traditional farming tools in Java are (1) exposing this research in a form of article and journal about traditional farming tools, (2) socializing traditional farming tools in Java through explaining and showing pictures to respondents who have filled the questionnaire.     This study aims to describe the value of character education responsibilities contained in the novel Maria Zaitun by Joko Santoso. This research is qualitative research with a content analysis approach. The technique of collecting data uses reading techniques and note-taking techniques. Data analysis uses concepts from Miles Huberman with the first step of data reduction, including selecting data, summarizing, and making the classification. The second presentation of the data has been srted according to the formulation and objectives of the study, and the thrid is the conclusion. The novel Maria Zaitun tells about the life of a female character who cannot escape her immorality in overcoming life’s problems, thus making her suffer and get hurt. Maria olives’ rejection and living poverty give her the strength to be able to go through every suffering and test that God gives. Based on this, the results of research conducted by researchers indicate that the value of character education responsibility is divided into (1) responsibility to God, (2) social responsibility, and (3) responsibility to oneself.

    This Novel Jakarta Sebelum Pagi by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie examines stories of love nuances which also contain socio-cultural elements in the modern era with a comparison of past stories to support the moral values presented. This study aims to examine abstract symbols so that multiple interpretations are made art connoisseurs. The author uses a type of qualitative research with a content analysis approach. Data was collected by grouping quotations between conversations between Abel's figure and other figures who shared similarity with symbolism in communication semiotics, namely symbolism of loyalty, trust, caring and habit. The results of the study which showed the discovery of four symbolism is as follows. First, the symbol of commitment is demonstrated by the blue Hyacinth flower that the character always brings to his lover. Second, trust is shown by pigs which are believed to have high ability to capture and intelligence, so that a symbol of a pig represents the character of Nissa (someone who can be trusted). Third, the concern is shown by grunts and growls by figures who cannot communicate using the five senses. Fourth, the custom symbol is illustrated by smoked pigs which are already polluted pollution in the city of Jakarta every day. The four symbols can be found in the discussion of imaginary novels

    Karni Ilyas rhetorical strategy that astounds with the technique of persuasion through Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC) serves impressions about the information in the form of event/occurrence law succeeded in attracting the attention of the community. This research aims to interpret the usage of rhetoric functions of verbal and nonverbal emcee ILC as a strategy of rhetoric. The design and type of research use descriptive analytics. This research was conducted comprehensively refers to the analysis of the rhetoric of verbal and nonverbal. Based on the results and discussion of the rhetoric of oral, nonverbal, obtained ILC events regarding the use of the rhetoric of verbal and nonverbal strategies as a presenter with the techniques of persuasion. Type of diction, diction in denotative, connotative, special, public, scientific, accessible, and the style of language used have a strategy that could affect listeners. The various elements of the selected non-verbal rhetoric serve to launch the process of policy within the host changes the listener. Therefore, an absolute necessity in communicating art an emcee who wanted to deliver a message delivered through the rhetoric form of speech (verbal) and rhetoric form of body language (nonverbal)

    This study is inspired by the use of Instagram as social media that is liked by Indonesian people. From 265, 4 million Indonesian people in 2018, 120 million people are users of social media. Fifty-three million out of 120 million people are the active users of Instagram in Indonesia. Instead of uploading the daily photos, Indonesian people are fond of posting jokes as the representative of social life. Those jokes use language as the primary medium. The use of words utilizes polysemy and homonymy for showing double meaning, so it represents jokes. This qualitative study uses the data of humorous postings on Instagram. After analyzing the data, it is found that the dominant aspects are polysemy and homonymy. Polysemy is shown by the transfer of meaning, the use of terms, and metaphor. Homonymy is viewed by the usage of language tendency, the use of names or titles, the abbreviation, and the divergence of meaning

    Language Interference of Bimanese to the Indonesian Language: A Case Study of Community in Kampung Muhajirin, Bima

    This research is initiated by the error use of Indonesian language by the community living in Kampung Muhajirin, Bima due to interference phenomenon. The errors occur in various linguistic aspects. This study aims to determine the interference forms of Bimanese language to the Indonesian language based on the characteristics differences between Bimanese and Indonesian language. One of the most distinct characteristics of both languages is that Bimanese is a vocalist language, while the Indonesian language is not a vocalist. The data were collected by observation and recording technique. The researchers observed the linguistic phenomenon in Kampung Muhajirin and recorded by a tape recorder. Finally, the data were analyzed and transcribed in orthographic writing. The finding showed that the interference of Bimanese language to the Indonesian language occurs on the aspects of phonological, lexical, and grammatical. Phonological interference causes the vowel sound disappeared at the end of the word. Lexical interference causes mixed code. Grammatical interference causes word order error

    This study aims to explore the defense of Java language and bilingualism on the learning process of yellow book in Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Darussalam. The data in this study was obtained when asatidz read, interpret, and explain the contents of the yellow book to the students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Descriptive method is a research method that tries to describe and interpret the object in accordance with the actual situation. This research also uses direct observation method in collecting data in yellow book study at Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Darusalam Pucangan Kartasura. The results of this study indicate the existence of the phenomenon bilingualism in the process of learning yellow book. In addition, in this study also shows the occurrence of Java language retention process that can be classified into several forms of words (terms). There are several factors that lie behind the defense of Javanese language and bilingualism that occurred in Pondok Pesantren Mahasiswa Darussalam

    Learning Model of Prose Appreciation Based on Inspirational Figure Story as an Effort to Build Students' Character

    This paper attempts to describe the prose appreciation model based on the inspirational experience of the character for Indonesian Language and Literature Education students. The development model is designed to improve student learning outcomes and as a follow-up to character formation. The needs of model development are obtained from questionnaires, observations, and interviews that include: (1) the need for teaching materials, (2) the needs of lecturers, and (3) the needs of the students. Characteristics of the model is based on the principles of model development obtained from the needs analysis. Referring to these two things can be obtained ten principles of learning model, including: (1) completeness principle, (2) cooperation, (3) effectiveness, (4) fun, (5) active learning, (6) modeling, 7) evaluative, (8) motivation, (9) variative, (10) mentoring, and (11) integrative. What model designs are based on the principles of development and the results of field studies and literature.
