    Statistical Analysis on Nutritional Status and its Associated Factors of Under Five Years Children in Nepal

    Malnutrition among under five year of age group is a major underlying cause of the child morbidity and mortality in many developing countries like Nepal. Nutritional status of children is a proxy indicator for assessing the health status of entire population. This study was carried out to evaluate the nutritional status of the most vulnerable age group of children (0-59 months) and to identify different factors associated with it. Generally three anthropometric indicators were often used to assess the nutritional status of children height-for-age, weight-for-height and weight-for-age. This study is based on data of Nepal Demographic and Health Survey.  WHO Anthro software and IBM SPSS 20 were used to analyze the data. The prevalence of the malnutrition (stunted, wasted and underweight) was found in the different aspect. This study consists of 2334 children of under five years age groups, out of this 50.9% were male children and 49.1% were female children, the prevalence of the stunted is 41%, wasted 29% and underweight 11%. The prevalence of diarrhea during the data collection period is 13.80% and prevalence of fever during the data collection period is 18.70%. The statistically significant factor were body mass index of mother, wealth index, size of child at birth and education of mother and smoking habit of mother. Malnutrition (stunted, wasted and underweight) still remains as a major health problem in our country Nepal. So, our government should be focused on those factors which are significantly associated with malnutrition like health care during pregnancy period, education of mother etc. Significant number of under-five children’s of Nepal was malnourished. Maternal factors have significant association with nutritional status of the children which include extra diet in pregnancy and lactation, iron supplements in pregnancy, exclusive breast feeding for six months

Among those advancements, robots have become significant by managing most of our day-to-day tasks and trying to get close to human lives. As robotics and autonomous systems flourish, human-robot relationships are becoming increasingly important. Recently humanoid robots become interesting as developers trying to model it with human resemblance and equipped with cloud based artificial intelligence. Many ethical issues are under discussion including job loss and fear of machine’s thinking power like humans. I believe it should not be a concern that machine will start thinking like human but more important concern should be that humans started thinking like computers. We really need to be natural by preserving our human values and compassion

    Cupping Therapy Simulation Course; A Pilot Study Assessing Self Reporting of Confidence, Expectations/Satisfaction and Performance

    This paper aimed to assess self-reporting of confidence, expectations/satisfaction, and performance of medical students before and after the cupping therapy simulation training course and to validate cupping simulation training evaluation questionnaire (CSTEQ). It was a pilot study to evaluate cupping therapy simulation course provided by National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).  The number of participants was 29/41 (70.7%) (20 females and 9 males) before training and 20/41 (48.9%) (9 females and 11 males) after training who returned the (CSTEQ) questionnaire. A significant improvement of performance scale and total score were noted after the cupping simulation training. Significant differences in confidence (P=0.013), expectations/satisfaction (P=0.001), performance (P=0.007) and total scoring (P=0.001) between male and female medical students were noted in favor of males. We can conclude that medical students reported significant improvement in performance and overall scoring after cupping therapy simulation course. Cupping simulation training evaluation questionnaire (CSTEQ) may be a reliable test tool. Cupping therapy simulation course should be encouraged, updated and extended to satisfy the learning needs especially of the female medical student. Future large-scale studies were recommended

    Three Body Abrasive Wear Behaviour of Polyamide 66/ Polypropylene (PA66/PP) Thermoplastic Blends

    Three body abrasive wear behaviour of Polyamide 66 and Polypropylene (PA66/PP) blends in different weight percentages of 95/5, 90/10, 85/15, 80/20, 75/25 and 70/30 are investigated. The experiments were carried out as per ASTM G65 by using rubber wheel abrasion tester (RWAT). The tests were conducted for a load of 50 and 75 N at a sliding velocity of 2.5 m/s with an abrading distance of 500, 1000 and 1500 m using fine abrasive dry sand particles as third body. The experimental results revealed that the wear volume and specific wear rate are the functions of load, abrading distance and composition of blend. It was observed from the experimentation that the lower loading of PP into blend decreases the wear resistance. The effective wear resistance starts from higher loading of PP (30 wt.%) in the blend. The abrasive sand particles and their size played a major role in determining the wear characteristics of PA66/PP blends. Substantiate amount of rubber wheel wear contributes to the development of wear resistance. The worn surfaces are studied by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) photographs

    Upgrading of the Crude Yellow Cake to a Highly Purified Form using Tris (2-ethylhexyl) Phosphate in Presence of EDTA or CDTA

    Upgrading crude yellow cake was done by 0.05 M Tris 2-ethylhexyl Phosphate / kerosene from 5 M nitrate solution.  More than 98 % of uranium extracted after 5 stages of contact, shaking time 5 minutes and volume phase ratio 1/1. Uranium stripping efficiency reached 99 % using distilled H2O, 10 minutes shaking time, (O/A) ratio 4/1 and three stripping stages. The purity of the produced cakes was enhanced by the addition of EDTA or CDTA. The produced cake using TEHP followed by EDTA addition to the stripping solution before uranium precipitation step was the most preferable cake with lower gangues

    Delineation of Hydrothermally Altered Zones that Favour Gold Mineralization in Isanlu Area, Nigeria Using Aeroradiometric Data

    Aeroradiometric data set of Isanlu sheet 225 (1:100,000) has been acquired with a view to analyze and interpret for the delineation of hydrothermally altered zones that favour gold mineralization. The acquired aero-radiometric data was subjected to filtering algorithm and enhancement techniques such as shaded relief enhancement, elemental ratio enhancement using Geosoft Oasis Montaj Software. Moreover, Golden Software Surfer was used to identify and present the revealed hydrothermally altered zones. The interpretation of the aero data set has enhanced the delineation of eight hydrothermally altered zones. Therefore, the areas that are hydrothermally altered are potential sites for gold mineralization, such as areas around Odogbe and Okolom in the north-central portion of the study area. Similarly, regions around Egbe in the western edge are suspected to be mineralized zones. Results obtained in this research study have shown that mapping of hydrothermally altered zones that favour gold mineralization is feasible even without the actual physical contact and visitation to the area. The research suggests that this method of delineation may compliment other geophysical exploration technique for possible gold bearing zones of an area. Moreover, due to the non-invasive nature of the method, large areas of space may be mapped within a limited time. Areas that are non-accessible to ground geophysical exploration due to various factors can also be studied

    Impact of Effective Microorganisms on the Microbiological and Physicochemical Parameters of Produced Water

    The study investigated the impact of effective microorganisms on the microbiological and physicochemical parameters of produced water. Produced water was obtained from Ebocha oil field within Rivers state. The spread plate method was used to determine the total heterotrophic bacterial counts, and pure isolates were subjected to biochemical characterization. Pure bacterial suspension of Lactobacillus plantarum, Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium italicum were obtained and subsequently inoculated into wastewater sample in consortium. Treated (with the consortium) wastewater sample was analyzed at interval for their physicochemical and microbiological parameters during the appropriate period of incubation (14 days) at room temperature. The bacterial load of produced water decreased from 1.3 x 108 cfu/ml to 3.6 x 107 cfu/ml, coliform counts increased from 2.0 x 105 cfu/ml to 1.4 x 106 cfu/ml, Staphylococcal counts decreased from 3.4 x 105 cfu/ml to 0 cfu/ml and Vibrio counts decreased from 8.0 x 105 cfu/ml to 2.0 x 105 cfu/ml. Biochemical characterization of bacterial isolates from the wastewater revealed the presence of Enterobacter sp, Bacillus sp, Klebsiella sp, Proteus sp, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus sp. The pH and temperature ranges of water sample during the period of treatment varied. The BOD values decreased from 240 mg/L to 21 mg/L while the COD values decreased from 400 mg/L to 160 mg/L. The results of the heavy metal assessment revealed an appreciable reduction in the heavy metal concentrations of the sample. The concentration of zinc in produced water decreased from 0.113 mg/L to an undetectable level (< 0.01 mg/L), iron concentration decreased from 1.071 mg/L to 0.139 mg/L, Nickel decreased from 2.110 mg/L to 1.081 mg/L while copper and cadmium were undetected. The use of effective microorganisms in the treatment of produced water was effective in the reduction of microbial load, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and removal of heavy metals

    An Insight into the Solar Dynamo Theory

    The Sun manifests its magnetic field in form of the solar activities, being observed on the surface of the Sun. The dynamo action is responsible for the evolution of the magnetic field in the Sun. The present article aims to present an overview of the studies have been carried on the theory and modelling of the solar dynamo. The article describes the alpha-omega dynamo model. Generally, the dynamo model involves the cyclic conversion between the poloidal field and the toroidal field. In case of alpha-omega dynamo model, the strong differential rotation generates a toroidal field near the base of the convection zone. On the other hand, the turbulent helicity leads to the generation of the poloidal field near the surface. The turbulent diffusion and the meridional circulation are considered as the two important flux transport agents in this model.     Improving Greenery in the Ghanaian Built Environment Through Policy and Legislature

    The world is craving for sustainability and thus implementing various measures to achieve this laudable task. For sustainable development to be achieved there is the need for a balance between environmental, economic and social development. Therefore, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) encompass all three. In Ghana, most infrastructural projects such as roads and buildings are done with economic and social focused leaving out the environmental concerns. Even though there is Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in place such as the Environmental Protection Act (EPA), the country’s environment with regards to greenery has setbacks. This research examines how the soft landscaping component of infrastructural development can be enhanced to improve the environment. Questionnaires in the form of Google forms were used to collect data. Stakeholders of infrastructural developments such as financiers of projects, institutions that give approvals and professionals involved in the design and execution of projects were the scope for data collection. The research reveals that there are no clear indications of requirements of soft landscaping in legislature and thus making it difficult for their inclusion in infrastructural development. A well-structured legislative instrument combining the Green Building Code and National Building Regulation should be adopted. Institutional capacities should also be enhanced for enforcement of this new legislature

    The programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is the central controlling unit in the industry or a process. The effective operation of the process and safety considerations if programmed appropriately can meet the required objectives.  The present technical paper briefly distinguishes the present automation systems and the past technologies to identify and explore the capabilities of PLCs for any process. The relay logic and contactor logics (RLC) were practiced in the olden days which include the human intervention and errors. The advent and application of microprocessors, microcontrollers and new specific tools such as PLCs, Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed control systems (DCS) have increased productivity, accuracy, precision and efficiency. These systems reduced human intervention and increased the flexibility in the process control. The keyword automation clearly states that the working of a process or repetition in an efficient manner by incorporating mechanisms and control sequences in the proper order several times with acceptable deviations in the output of the process
