In recent years, Lissachatina fulica (Bowdich 1822), or giant African snail, is one of the most conspicuous invasive species in Colombia. Particularly, its biology, besides to the habitat and climatic conditions and its affinity with the human aggregations, have allowed a rapid dissemination of this species throughout the national territory. Although only 14 years have passed since the first confirmed record of Lissachatina fulica in Colombia, to date it has been reported in 24 departments, although mainly associated with urban centers in the inter-Andean valleys of the Cauca River and Magdalena River, the Pacific region, the Caribbean, the Orinoquía and even in the Andean zone. Lissachatina fulica is a large snail that can reach up to 14 cm in length, with a maximum abundance records of 1400 ind/ha in the urban environment of the city of Cali. Their clutches contain between 35 to 290 eggs; the hatching time is between 10 to 14 days and reaching reproductive maturity in just 3 months. The low genetic diversity recorded suggests that in the region this species is still in the recent invasion stage. However, the high availability of empty shells in recreative urban areas could enhance the incidence of other zoonotic disease vectors such as mosquitoes, with the use of the water accumulated in the empty shells as a reservoir for the eggs and larvae of mosquito’s species that are considered vectors of the dengue, yellow fever, Chikungunya or Zika viruses.

The book presents two types of work: on the one hand, a series of tributes to distinguished and recently deceased legal historians; on the other hand, a set of papers presented by members of the Spanish Society for the History of Law, dealing with different issues of relevance for legal historiography with a single theme but at the same time of enormous diversity and interest, since under the umbrella of the idea of the centre-periphery duality, the most varied aspects of the Spanish historical-legal past are examined in depth from the perspective of rights in territories and societies, not forgetting specifically university research in this respect. This is the result of the research that was presented during the congress of the III Conference of the Spanish Society for the History of Law held at the University of La Laguna in June 2023, in which the authors offered solid, as well as very new, contributions of enormous interest for the knowledge of the historical-legal past and the transcendence of this past for a correct understanding of the importance of the legal in today's society.
Literary Heritage
Literary Heritage examines the literary heritage sector in the post-pandemic moment. The book argues that this is a unique time for literary heritage management and demonstrates that the key to understanding it is an analysis of the transformations that took place because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Through an analysis of literary heritage sites across the UK’s four nations, this study provides an overview of practice from sites managed by national organisations as well as independent museums. Presenting a quantitative and qualitative overview of the challenges faced by the sector in the wake of the pandemic, Rudrum and Williams explore the innovations literary heritage organisations initiated in response. The book displays the wealth of ingenuity that was on display during this trying moment for the sector. It also looks forward to the new normal in the industry: a move towards the outdoors, increased use of online engagement, and creative arts and community programming that brings the literary past to the political present. Featuring interviews with 16 heritage practitioners, the book shares examples of best practice in the hope that lessons will be learned from the enforced closures prompted by the pandemic. Literary Heritage will be of great interest to academics and students working in Heritage Studies, Museum Studies, and English Literature. It will also appeal to a broad readership of cultural heritage professionals

Values That Pay
Today, Morocco’s hip hop artists are vital to their country’s reputation as diverse, creative, and modern. But in the 1990s and 2000s, teenage amateurs shaped their craft and ideals together as the profound socioeconomic changes of neoliberalization swept through their neighborhoods. Values That Pay traces Moroccan hip hop’s trajectory from sidewalk cyphers and bedroom studios to royal commendations and international festivals. Kendra Salois draws from more than ten years of research into her interlocutors’ music and moral reasoning to explore the constitutive tensions of institutionalization, hip hop aesthetics, and neoliberal life. Entrepreneurial artists respond to their unavoidable complicity with an extractive state through aesthetic and interpersonal sincerity, educating their fans on the risks and responsibilities of contemporary citizenship. Salois argues that over the past forty years, Moroccan hip hop practitioners have transformed not only themselves but also what it means to be an ethical citizen in a deeply unequal nation.
“Moving effortlessly between street-level ethnography of the rap scene and analysis of the political economy of transnational cultural flows, Kendra Salois offers a keenly observed, historically grounded, and eminently readable history of Moroccan hip hop.” — Hisham Aidi, author of Rebel Music: Race, Empire, and the New Muslim Youth Culture
“Guided by her steady refusal to dismiss Moroccan hip hop artists and their fans as complicit with the state, as sell-outs to the market, or alternatively as resistant, Salois’s caring world of neoliberal subject making is alive with improvisations, debate, ethics, human dilemmas, fortitude, music, and young people having fun.” — Louise Meintjes, author of Dust of the Zulu: Ngoma Aesthetics after Aparthei
