Acceptance and Diffusion of Connected and Automated Driving in Japan and Germany
This open access book gives comprehensive empirical insights on connected and automated driving (CAD) of road transport vehicles which leads to the driver being partially or completely replaced by automation. The current trend towards widespread research and development of automation of motorised individual transport is driven by the expected benefits, such as increased road safety, smoother traffic flow, reduction of congestion, or use of driving time for other activities. CAD has the potential to change several dimensions of the transport system, ranging from changes in car ownership to the availability of entirely new mobility services. Some proponents even expect CAD to revolutionise the current transport system as a whole. In order to make informed statements about the possible impact of CAD on transport systems, research must consider a wide range of open questions: In what way do the existing framework conditions of the prevailing mobility systems affect the impact of CAD? How does the governance style relate to regulatory changes and resource allocation in the development of CAD? Is an autonomous ride-hailing service really a profitable business case? What are the attitudes and expectations towards CAD in the general public? What are the effects of CAD on transport systems? What are other impacts of CAD that should be assessed? All of these questions were addressed within different projects as part of the Japanese-German Research Cooperation on CAD and can be discovered by the reader of this book
RF Energy Harvesting and Wireless Power Transfer for IoT
Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are fast becoming the main connectivity backbone of the data-driven, sustainable society of the future. However, major concerns related to the lack of efficient solutions for powering and maintaining the uninterrupted operation of the growing number of IoT devices is have begun to emerge. In this regard, energy harvesting techniques are an attractive solution, as they allow for the use of externally recharging batteries, and thus may constitute key components of future sustainable IoT networks. This Special Issue focuses specifically on radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting and wireless power transfer technologies, addressing their challenges through diverse perspectives and exploring innovations and practical applications. It comprises 12 research papers from authors across the globe aiming to advance our understanding and unlock the transformative potential of RF-based energy solutions within the evolving IoT landscape
The Politics of Urban Land in South Asia
Cities in South Asia are homes to one of the highest concentrations of people anywhere in the world and the allocation of land and urban resources and the benefits that can be derived from them in this region have become increasingly contested. This book explores the politics of urban land in South Asia and the challenges related to their respective urban futures.
For most people, land comes at a premium, and as a result conflicts and contestations over land and urban resources are rife in countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal, as witnessed in the many struggles of low-income groups and vulnerable or marginalised communities to fight off dispossession or displacement. This book maps current challenges shared across national borders and charts out new directions for future research and land policy. With contributions from emerging and established authors, the book offers a critical accounting of the situation that exists in urban South Asia, while also critically engaging with the current challenges and future directions for land use and land politics.
The book will be useful to students and researchers of public policy, development studies, economics, urban and regional development studies, and sociology as well as to policy makers, real estate professionals, and commercial firms engaged in property market/real estate study in Asia.

Princes, conseils et réformations à la Renaissance
At the crossroads of the medieval and modern eras, new forms of government were put in place, promoting the development of the state apparatus through the deployment of councils and advisors to reinforce the authority of princes. This book places these political and administrative experiments in the context of the religious reforms of Renaissance Europe. Based on the practices of the Navarrese monarchy, the study is extended to other European and American territories

Medulloblastoma
Medulloblastoma is an important disease model for modern oncology. Treatment paradigms have significantly improved since the identification of the disease, and modern imaging and biomarker analysis have promoted the re-categorization of the disease to carefully place patients into clinical trials that reflect the anticipated outcome for each subset of the disease. Investigators will continue to strive to optimize therapy for this vulnerable patient population and constantly revisit outcomes to balance process improvements for disease control while limiting the sequelae of management. In this book, we present modern management aspects and strategies for therapy's future direction. It is our privilege to present this work to you
