The European Universities Initiative and the ‘Euro-internationalisation’ of European Higher Education
This book examines the European Universities Initiative from multiple angles and comparative studies.
It outlines the scope and potential of this initiative, and the different epistemological and methodological approaches which can be adopted to investigate it in the light of previous research on Europeanisation, on the internationalisation of higher education, and on the construction of European identities through everyday practices. With this, it presents the concept of “Euro-internationalisation” to understand the factors which brought the initiative into being. Bringing together contributions from all over Europe, involved in several of the first European University Alliances, the book helps to foster a better understanding of the evolution of Higher Education in Europe.
The book will be of key interest to scholars and students of higher education policy and governance, European Policy, European integration and more broadly to international relations, globalisation and the sociology of education.

Alteridad, paz y escuela
Peace happens, it unexpectedly breaks into the extent that I care for the other, that I am responsible for those who are not like me; in other words, peace surprises me when I welcome the concern and the complete fragility of the other. I cannot be at peace with myself – I cannot be at inner peace – while the other, the neighbor, suffers – because inner peace is challenged by the exteriority that shakes the self from its domains and powers – because peace, in order to be possible in its ethical dimension, cannot be possible without a clear conscience (Mèlich, 2014). Not feeling liberated or freed from the other, but bound to him/her/them, a bond that liberates in and from responsibility, that which does not evade the call of the other.

Exploring the World of Cereal Crops
Cereal crops are the centre of global food systems, serving as a fundamental source of nutrition for the global population and driving key sectors in agriculture and biofuel production. As the world’s population grows, a significant concern has been about ensuring cereal crops’ sustainability, resilience, and nutritional value. This book delves into the multifaceted world of cereal crops, examining their biological, cultural, and economic significance. With contributions from leading experts in the field, this book provides reviewers with current research on improving the nutritional value of cereals, breeding for drought-tolerant and climate-resilient varieties, and leveraging advanced technologies for monitoring grain quality and optimizing storage. Whether you are a researcher, student, or professional in agriculture, food science, or environmental studies, this book can offer vital information on the future of cereal crops and their critical role in feeding the world
Landscapes and the Augustan Revolution
This book centres on the transformation of landscapes, focusing on the Western Mediterranean during the end of the Roman Republic and the Early Roman Empire.
This volume brings together diverse contributions that utilise both theoretical and practical approaches from landscape studies and archaeology to examine the transitions to the Empire in the provincial landscapes of the western Roman Empire. Focusing on wider processes of change and continuity, identified through diverse approaches (e.g., settlement patterns, mobility and communication, and military expansion) and methods (e.g., spatial analysis, remote sensing, and GIS), the contributions highlight the profound socio-economic, political, and environmental factors whose interplay shaped the region. In doing so, the book underscores the agency of local communities in shaping their landscapes and their varied responses to Imperial policies, thus generating new insights into the processes of social and political change brought about by Augustan reforms and how these were implemented and experienced at the local level.
This book will be of interest to students and researchers of archaeology and ancient history, particularly those focused on Roman and landscape archaeology
Advances in Vascular Surgery
Aortic dissection is a devastating disease in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the aorta due to various pathological conditions, especially congenital. Blood rushes through the tear, causing the inner and middle layers of the aorta to rupture. If blood passes through the external aortic wall, the aorta ruptures and becomes fatal. Significant progress is being made in genetic studies for prevention. An emergency approach is often required and must be performed with a multidisciplinary approach to the patient's outcome. A multidisciplinary approach is usually essential in emergencies to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. This requires a team that includes a cardiac surgeon, vascular surgeon, radiologist, and anaesthetist experienced in echocardiography. Cerebral protection is essential in surgical and endovascular procedures. This book explores several aspects of aortic dissection and discusses recent advances in diagnosis and treatment
SeitenArchitekturen
There are special affinities between comics and architecture. The structure of a comic page follows architectural principles that significantly influence its reception. At the same time, urban architecture plays a crucial role in the stories of many comics, and the characters move through spaces that are meaningful and orienting, or have a labyrinthine character that, in the sense of deconstruction, decenters and thus disorients. The contributions collected in this volume examine the architecture of and in comics at the intersection of discursive and media practices. The basis for this is provided by theories of spatial concepts and configurations that have been considered in a wide variety of disciplines since the spatial turn: spaces are no longer understood as exclusively physical and territorial, but as relational, symbolically coded, and socially constructed concepts. Overall, this volume aims to explore an interdisciplinary field of comics research that has received little attention so far and to examine the media and symbolic significance of buildings and spaces, as well as the social practices associated with them
Changing Assessment
Since the Delors report, education reformers have been working to create curricula that allow human beings to flourish. Schools should not only be places where we learn to be and learn to live together, but also places where the way we assess students valorises the diverse range of human gifts within them. Yet, most schools remain locked in a 19th-century assessment structure that prevents young people from exploring the full variety and extent of their talents, forcing them to perform on a narrow, high-stakes track. When will this change
