No full textThe label “border” can encompass a wide range of phenomena: geographical limits, political boundaries, areas under military control, and porous zones of interaction. This volume takes an interdisciplinary approach, viewing the border space as a place of contact and contrast, an area of both peaceful and violent exchange, of mobility of ideas and people, a structural element deployed by social actors to organise or adapt their own existence. The book examines the case of southern Italy (Mezzogiorno) between the 11th and 15th centuries, exploring the institutional history of land and sea border dynamics, and related commercial, political and social implications.Unter dem Stichwort „Grenze“ lässt sich ein breites Spektrum von Phänomenen zusammenfassen: geographische Grenzen, politische Abgrenzungen, militärisch kontrollierte Gebiete und durchlässige Interaktionsbereiche. Dieser Band wirft einen interdisziplinären Blick auf den Grenzraum als Ort des Kontakts und der Konfrontation, als Gebiet des friedlichen und gewaltsamen Austauschs und der Mobilität von Ideen und Menschen, in dem die sozialen Akteure den Raum als strukturelles Element zur Organisation oder Anpassung ihrer Existenz nutzen. In diesem Buch wird mit der Erforschung der Institutionengeschichte von Landgrenzen und der Dynamiken maritimer Grenzen sowie deren kommerziellen, politischen und sozialen Auswirkungen der Fall des süditalienischen Mezzogiorno zwischen dem 11. und dem 15. No full textThe documents gathered here address concerns stemming from the extensive field of studies on the history of Popular Unity, the transnational history of Chilean politics, and the history of the Latin American Cold War. Each field has its own framework, and the documents can be read from these perspectives, with divergent ends. Fascinating traces of the past emerge from conversations such as the one Luis Corvalán held with the Soviet ambassador on August 8, 1973 (document 126), in the midst of an acute political, social, and economic crisis. Corvalán, there, accuses the Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Carlos Altamirano, of having proposed a "self-coup" as a solution to the current political dilemma, something completely ruled out by his communist allies, as well as by Allende himself. Corvalán, in fact, feared for the unity of his allies given the possibility of a split with the president given the magnitude of their differences. The conversation with the Soviet ambassador means different things, depending on the questions: it describes the desperate situation of the last days of Chilean democracy, the contradictions that this situation had exacerbated within the Unidad Popular, the relationships of trust between the general secretary of the Communist Party and the Soviet ambassador, and finally, the set of circumstances that led to the most relevant Chilean event with the greatest global impact of the 20th century: the coup that would destroy Chilean democracy and socialism and install that brutal dictatorship that, without time having completely blurred, is still present in today's Chile (from the prologue by Marcelo Casals)

Economies of Difference in Works by Marlen Haushofer, Ingeborg Bachmann and Hélène Cixous analyses texts by two Austrian woman writers, Marlen Haushofer and Ingeborg Bachmann, as well as French writer and theorist Hélène Cixous. Cixous’ texts are not read here as meta- or secondary texts to be applied to Haushofer’s and Bachmann’s writing, but as a voice equal to theirs. . Alongside a critical overview of the common narratives in Haushofer, Bachmann and Cixous reception, this study analyses selected motifs from the authors’ texts and sheds light on the economies of their writing processes as well as those of the manuscripts and typoscripts of Die Mansarde and Das Buch Franza.In Austausch begriffen. Ökonomien der Differenz bei Marlen Haushofer, Ingeborg Bachmann und Hélène Cixous widmet sich den beiden österreichischen Autorinnen Marlen Haushofer und Ingeborg Bachmann und der französischen Autorin und Theoretikerin Hélène Cixous. No full textDrying and dewatering processes have many industrial applications, such as in the agricultural, energy, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, paper, and textile industries. In most drying applications, there is a need to control or improve the quality of the output product. At the same time, since the drying process is an energy-intensive operation, improvements to the existing dryer design are desirable in order to save energy. This is a motivation for further research on process intensification and energy consumption reduction, while ensuring a high-quality final product. Therefore, it is important to possess a comprehensive understanding of such processes and their underlying mechanisms. In this Special Issue, current knowledge and new trends in drying and dewatering techniques are described. The papers can be differentiated according to the drying method used, the specific application, and the material dried, with most papers relating to food drying. No full textBetween the end of World War II and the economic boom, cinema in Italy was at the center of numerous negotiating practices, ranging from the protection of morality to the maintenance of public order; from the need to financially support a struggling industry to the development of new international relations; from the influence of the Vatican to the creation of fragile political alliances. The essay reconstructs how film censorship positioned itself at the crossroads of all these concerns. Through the study of the censorship archive files and parliamentary records, the book offers a reading that seeks to overcome from the traditional interpretation of censorship as a merely repressive tool, proposing instead a model of culture of negotiation that was able to guide the country through one of the most difficult periods in its history.PublishedTra la fine della seconda guerra mondiale e il boom economico il cinema in Italia è al centro di numerose pratiche di negoziazione che vanno dalla tutela della morale al mantenimento dell’ordine pubblico; dalla necessità di sostenere economicamente un’industria in crisi allo sviluppo dei nuovi rapporti internazionali; dall’influenza del Vaticano alla creazione di alleanze politiche fragili. Il libro ricostruisce in che modo la censura cinematografica si è posta come crocevia di tutte queste istanze. Attraverso lo studio dei fascicoli dell’archivio della censura, per lo più inediti, e degli atti parlamentari, si propone una lettura che cerca di affrancarsi dalla tradizionale interpretazione della censura come meccanismo meramente repressivo, per proporre invece un modello di cultura della negoziazione che è stato capace di guidare il Paese in una delle fasi più difficili della sua storia

First, a geometrically non-linear model and the methods used to evaluate the behavior of tensegrity structures are explained. Next, a broad spectrum of different planar and spatial design solutions is considered. Assessment of Tensegrity Structures is very logically organized, in line with its down-to-earth subject, beginning with the simplest two-dimensional structure, for which solutions can be presented in explicit form, and ending with more complex tensegrity structures used in civil engineering such as domes, towers, and plates.
