No full textThe Late Antique cities, are they really invisible? This volume contributes to research on cities in the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa, and thus to the social history of power, between Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. It offers a selection of ten case studies from both regions, based on archaeological evidence, epigraphic monuments and literary transmission, for the period between 300 and 800. It pays special attention to the link between changes in urban space and socio-political structures, a process that is the result, on the one hand, of the material manifestation of Christianity and, on the other, of adaptation to changing external conditions, such as the establishment of Visigothic, Vandal and, finally, Umayyad domination

No full textThe climate catastrophe and transgression of planetary boundaries, together with the erosion of democracy and rise of oligarchy, have intensified demands for critical reflection on capitalism. This edited collection responds to these demands, featuring contributions from scholars across the social sciences disciplines and geographical contexts. The book explores ways to rethink and retheorise capitalism through theoretical, conceptual, and empirical contributions. Some contributions propose ways to reform capitalism, some emphasise the need to examine it as part of diverse more-than-capitalist economic arrangements, while others invite us to reflect on what might come after capitalism.

No full textDie digitale Transformation stellt Beschäftigte in der technischen Produktionsplanung und -steuerung vor große Herausforderungen. Sie sind gleichermaßen Betroffene und aktive Gestaltende dieses Wandels. Das vorliegende Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekt verfolgt das Ziel, ein praxisnahes Weiterbildungskonzept für diese Berufsgruppe zu entwickeln. Ausgangspunkt ist die Frage, wie ein solches Konzept auf dem Weg zu Industrie 4.0 aussehen kann. Gemeinsam mit Praxisakteur:innen werden Erkenntnisse über Aufgaben, Kompetenzen und Qualifizierungsbedarfe erarbeitet. Besonderheit des Projekts ist die Kombination aus wissenschaftlicher Fundierung, empirischer Analyse und praktischer Umsetzung in Form eines Leitfadens. Die Dissertation ist wie folgt aufgebaut: Nach der Einleitung, in der die gesellschaftliche Relevanz und die forschungsleitenden Fragen dargelegt werden, beleuchtet das zweite Kapitel die Berufswirklichkeit in der technischen Produktionsplanung und -steuerung. Hier werden Aufgabenprofile, Anforderungen und bereits vorliegende empirische Studien analysiert. Kapitel drei beschreibt das methodische Vorgehen anhand des Design-Based-Research-Paradigmas sowie der qualitativen Datenerhebung durch problemzentrierte Interviews. Im vierten Kapitel werden die Ergebnisse vorgestellt, die die Beschäftigten als Mitgestaltende von Industrie 4.0 sichtbar machen. Kapitel fünf mündet in ein modular aufgebautes Weiterbildungskonzept, das auf Erkenntnissen der Analyse basiert und zur menschzentrierten Arbeitsgestaltung beiträgt. Im abschließenden sechsten Kapitel erfolgt eine kritische Reflexion und ein Ausblick auf die Umsetzung und den weiteren Forschungsbedarf. Die Publikation richtet sich an die Zielgruppe Fach- und Führungskräfte in der technischen Produktionsplanung und -steuerung, die vor oder mitten im Wandel zur Industrie 4.0 stehen. Zudem ist sie eine wertvolle Ressource für Bildungsplaner:innen, Betriebsrät:innen, Weiterbildungsanbieter und alle, die sich wissenschaftlich oder praktisch mit der Arbeitsgestaltung im digitalen Wandel beschäftigen
