Leveraging Web Scraping to Gather Tourism Information Data
Get PDFThe influence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on both individuals' daily lives and the economy is of significant importance. In this context, the tourism industry plays a crucial role, and it is essential to recognise the contributions of tourists in terms of sharing their experiences through tourism websites. Analysing this data is key to improving future tourists' experiences. Therefore, the objective of this study is to employ web scraping to gather data on places of interest (POI) and user attributes, specifically in the state of Melaka via the TripAdvisor website. Melaka is chosen as it is one of the places recognised by the United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The study focuses on the 200 POI locations (UNESCO) Map, encompassing both Melaka's core and buffer zones. These POIs are categorised into four heritage types: built heritage, natural heritage, personal heritage, and living heritage, with some belonging to more than one category. For the data collection process, this study utilised the TripAdvisor website and extracted a total of 14 attributes. Specifically, 27282 user data entries were collected from 163 POIs in the core zone area, and 8305 data entries from 37 POIs in the buffer zone area. The data is managed and stored in various formats, including CSV, JSON, and Excel files in the repository. The data helps in the development of a tourism application. The Role of Dhaka's Community-Based Parks in Improving Children’s Mental and Physical Health
Get PDFThis study focused on the significance of Community Park for enhancing children’s mental and physical health at the grassroots level of the community of Dhaka city. To assess the practical scenario both primary and secondary data was used in this study. Convenience sampling techniques have been applied to collect data with a pre-designed structured questionnaire. To reach the study goal, regression analyses have been applied to see the correlation between children’s health and community park activities. Furthermore, categorized the impact to understand the vulnerability. The evidence identified that such community park contributes significantly to children's physical and mental well-being, fostering a positive impact on their holistic development. The study findings demonstrated that ∼ 80% of children think community parks significantly contribute to maintaining their mental wellbeing. Similarly, 61% of children expressed that park activities reduce their stress and anxiety. In addition, regular activities impact on their physical growth which was expressed by 90% of respondents. The result also finds out a strong correlation between the physical and mental health of the children. In addition, it analyzed the correlation of impact between their education and health. Besides, the study also assesses the levels of severity of depression, anxiety, and sleeping disorders in children after covid-19 pandemic. Indeed, results also disclose numerous factors such as infrastructural conditions, greenery stock, safety measures, children's activities and community participation in the community parks. The novelty of the study will help public health experts, psychologists, urban planners, environmentalists, policymakers, public representatives to take an eco�friendly sustainable development plan, thereby fostering a positive impact on children’s holistic development. A Reinterpretation of Chiu Keng Guan’s Ola Bola: a Redefined Notion of Bangsa Malaysia from an Islamic Perspective

Consequently, various endeavors have been made by authorities to shape a national identity in Malaysia. Among these efforts is Mahathir's concept of Bangsa Malaysia. Despite being labeled as a non�Islamic production, Chiu Keng Guan's film, Ola Bola, subtly reflects Islamic principles in fostering national identity. This study aims to redefine the emergence of a Malaysian national identity depicted in Ola Bola, aligning with Islamic values, and to challenge the established notion of Bangsa Malaysia. Through a thematic analysis and literature review of Ola Bola, the film's narrative is revisited and examined. Ola Bola, effectively conveying Islamic values in nurturing a cohesive national identity, was directed by a non-Muslim Malaysian, reshaping the predominantly Malay-centric concept of Bangsa Malaysia, as is evident. Formulating the Evaluation Model of Educational Music Video for Children’s Learning (EMV4CL)
Get PDFThis study, part of a Ph.D. thesis, explores the role of Educational Music Videos (EMVs) in enhancing children's learning within the framework of Video-Based Learning (VBL). EMVs, which adapt the traditional music video format by embedding educational content through singing narration, offer a novel approach to creating engaging and enjoyable learning experiences for young learners, particularly those aged 7-12 years old. However, the educational potential of EMVs has not been fully realized due to the absence of specific guidelines for evaluating their appropriateness for children's learning. To address this gap, the study develops the Evaluation Model of Educational Music Videos for Children’s Learning (EMV4CL). Grounded in a Design Research methodology, the study follows a systematic approach involving iterative development and expert validation to ensure the robustness of the model. As a result, five critical components necessary for the effective evaluation of EMVs were identified: 1) video content, 2) audio-visual learning concepts, 3) video presentation style, 4) edutainment features and, 5) interactive activities. Each component was meticulously designed to capture the unique characteristics that make EMVs suitable for educational purposes. The EMV4CL model was subsequently validated by 11 academic experts, who unanimously endorsed its relevance and applicability in assessing the educational quality of music videos for children. The findings of this study highlight the EMV4CL as a significant contribution to the field, providing a structured and comprehensive tool that educators and developers can use to produce and evaluate high-quality educational music videos. The study’s findings also have practical implications for educational content creators, helping them align EMVs with pedagogical goals and children's learning needs.
