JAVAD TRIUMPH-LS internal antennas constant verification from GNSS observations
Diploma thesis deals with the procedure of the internal JAVAD TRIUMPH-LS antenna's calibration verification. We wanted to check whether the 2,5 cm nozzle is included in the initial NGS antenna calibration. The verification procedure has been performed on the roof of the faculty's building, where the instruments were set on three pillars; we have used one JAVAD TRIUMPH-LS instrument, the rest of the instruments were from other manufactures. In the static observation processing antenna height from the instrument JAVAD TRIUMPHLS has not been taken into account in order to get a deviation from the reference value. We came to the conclusion that in the initial calibration of the instrument adapter is not included and that we need to measure the height of the antenna to the labels on the instrument. Further we have verified the quality of coordinates, gathered from RTK-positioning using JAVAD TRIUMPH-LS additional accessories based on inclinometer. While using RTKmethod we have acquired coordinates when the instrument was inclined to 15°, 30° and 45° angles. We have found such positioning might be problematic, since already by 15° we have obtained deviations about 10 cm in each horizontal component. Therefore, when using the instrument JAVAD TRIUMPH-LS to determine the RTK-positions the slope of the instrument from the vertical should not be above of 15° inclination or even better in order to achieve best quality positioning results using rectified labels is more appropriate
Buildings cadastre and enlistment of buildings in join ownership to the land register
In the thesis there is presented the arrangement of property sales register in apartment buildings. The whole process of enlistment is presented from the measuring in the field under consideration the enlistment of individual parts of the building into the land register according to the Act of Determining Special Conditions for Registering the Ownership of Individual Parts of Building with the Land Register. A special focus was put on drawing up the study for the preparation of commonhold considering preliminary enlistings
Comparison of technical conditions for earthworks and unbound granular material for roads in Slovenia and Croatia
The thesis discusses the Slovenian and Croatian technical specifications and European standards for earthworks and unbound granular layers on roads. The comparative analysis of requirements is made for road materials, quality requirements and test methods. At the beginning, the functional properties of characteristic layers in road structure are introduced. The quality criteria for materials and compacted layers are analysed and compared along with the reference test methods for quality control in Slovenia and Croatia. A comparison of requirements is made also with the reference EN standards. Analysis shows some important differences in demands and test methods
Analysis of energy savings in retirement homes
In this thesis, we analysed energy savings in five retirement homes in Slovenia which were renovated in 2012 and 2013. These took part in public tender for a complete energy renovation and were selected on the basis of point-system for measures from an extended residential energy consumption survey (RECS). The basis for comparison are the\ud
calculations for the estimated consumption in RECS, which were prepared through joint venture withgGenera-Proplussby the Ministry for labour, family and social affairs in 2009.\ud
Retirement homes chosen for the analysis have a simpler architectual plan and were willing to share the data on consumption of energy for study purposes. The thesis enables more detailed insight in the procedure composition and the content scope of extended RECS, with emphasis on the used methods for calculating building physics and authorial analysis brefore and after renovation. Savings for analysis were calculated wit a simplified method as well as with NovoCAD program tool, which is today considered outdated because of loose criteria and methods of calculation. The mesaure of success is valid agreement of calculated savings with actual savings. For this purpose, we made a control calculation of building physics with a newer program KI Energija and the results were compared with measured savings. With reproduced calculations we proved that the program is a better choice from viewpoint of accuracy. In the end of the analysis we calculated the level of success of the estimation of savings with Chi-squared test and T-test. All used methods proved to be statistically in agreement (even up to 91,4 %); the actual control calculations unfotunately did not show agreement of calculations with actual savings. We reached better agreement of calculated savings in control calculations with program KI Energija – statistically this one did not show agreement because the sample was too small

A plan to create a zero waste society: transforming waste into resources
It is only reasonable to become a zero waste society and for producers to immediately start redesigning products, and for us to make the transition in our mentality to stop buying products that we do not really need or products that we could, in fact, borrow. In the interim (transitional period), until all our products are sustainable ones, waste incinerators (thermal treatment that utilises energy recovery) will still be unavoidable. However, this does not mean that new ones will need to be built, instead, the existing infrastructure can be utilised. Thermal treatment should only be allowed to be used for waste that cannot be utilised or returned into the material flow in any way. In my master’s thesis I have presented an overview of municipal waste management: the history and current situation in both Slovenia and Europe. I carried out a study on Zero Waste and the standard of municipal waste services. I have presented the techniques of treating mixed municipal waste, a circular economy, material flows of certain types of waste, the 5 or 6 steps of waste management, as well as the Zero Waste movement and how to join this movement. The ‘Loči.me’ (‘separate me’) application was developed to promote the correct sorting of waste and encourage people to separate their waste. On the basis of the facts examined, I put forward some proposals on how to harmonise the operations of municipal companies, critically determine the current roles and perspectives of modern methods of waste thermal treatment and an initiative to adopt a circular economy as a systemic solution for the formation of a zero waste society
Analysis of the stress state around the tunnel for elastic and elastic-plastic behaviour of soils
Knowing the stress state in the rock mass before, during and after tunnel construction, is crucial element of design process. Based on the changes in the stress state and the characteristics of the rock, we can determine the size and development of the displacement that arise as a result of the tunnel construction procedure. The engineers’ task is to analyse the state of stresses and strains and provide the support structure choosing the most appropriate technology for the construction of the tunnel. The thesis presents different models for the analysis of stress state, where the analytical method is presented in detail. Furthermore, the failure criterion for the linear and non-linear behaviour of the rock mass is described. These are used to determine the state of the rock mass, which can be either elastic or plastic. Special attention is paid to the problem of plastic state, where displacements are significantly larger compared to elastic. In order to limit the growth of movements and prevent the collapse, the tunnel walls have to be protected with the supporting structure. Supporting elements installed by the technology of the new Austrian method (NATM), which are most commonly used in our area, are presented in the work. The analyses for soft and hard rock mass are presented using the analytical method, which was implemented into the Excel spreadsheets. Results are also examined using software for the finite element analysis Plaxis
Development of the georadar observation model for underground infrastructure detection
The necessity for the implementation of non-destructive methods for recording has arisen from our long term practical experience of extremely wide range of solutions regarding establishment, management and maintenance of the Consolidated Cadastre of Public Infrastructure of the Republic of Slovenia, as well as from our daily work in the field of recording infrastructure consisting of public utilities, energy infrastructure and communication facilities. Similar trends may now also be observed elsewhere in the world. In this thesis, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) observation for monitoring buried utilities based on controlled testing pool environment has been designed and proposed as a three phase process. In the first phase, the kinematic method for positioning GPR is introduced and geophysical and geodetic sets of observation are connected. In the second phase, the systematic latency with images matching (radargrams) is determined. In the final and most important phase of the procedure, the integration of a series of standard processing of GPR signals with the support of advanced algorithms for signal processing results of GPR observations have been interpreted and visualized. The testing pools, into which all of today’s important utilities have been buried, are a good approximation of pavement structures of regional and local roads as well as pedestrian precincts made on the basis of applicable technical specifications for pavement structure planning. Using all known data of the dimensions and buried utilities materials, pavement materials, pavement thickness, sub-base and subgrade, laboratory controlled dielectric, volume percentage of water content, geodetic measurements and considering method used in testing pools as given reference values, accuracy and precision of the proposed model have been analyzed in recording underground utilities infrastructure. The proposed model obtained in testing pools was further on tested in two selected areas of real urban environment. The results have shown that it is possible on the basis of optimum composed model to obtain information on dimensions, depth, inclination and position of ducts, pipes and cables in various demanding circumstances of urban environment subject to thickness and composition of pavement structure and the presence of uncontrolled variables of natural environment such as moisture and permittivity. It is realistic to expect average decimetre position (2D) and height accuracy. Important additional element is also three dimensional visualization of utility infrastructure based on the proposed model. The proposed model of GPR observations and/or research of recording utilities infrastructure, as presented in the thesis, is the first such research carried out in the territory of Slovenia. Moreover, the testing environment with all of its elements of real urban environment in the shape of testing pools has been created for the purpose of the present thesis and is as such unique and one among the few in the world. In the future, more active role in the matter of GPR observations for monitoring and recording utilities infrastructure may be expected
Development and application of a mesoscopic simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment model
In general the model is a simplified performance of the real world. It enables understanding, changing and maintaining features, predict and influence the behavior of the system under consideration. Development of transport models makes possible test traffic conditions and observing the behavior of modeled situations rather than build real system. Due to improvement of computer perfomance, model has become more and more usefull for measuring and testing different scenarious. Similar process done in the real environment would be very difficult and expensive.\ud
Lately has appeared the third group of models that are becoming increasingly useful and eliminates the gap between macroscopic and microscopic models. These are mesoscopic simulation models, which include the method of dynamic assignment and are very suitable for modeling large-scale networks where the amount of traffic vary during the day. Traffic users are described in high detail, but their interactions are defined on the lower level versus microsimulation.\ud
The emphasis of work is on development and possible application of mesoscopic traffic model based on dynamic assignment method knows as DTA, which stands for "Dynamic Traffic Assignment." In the professional use of the mesoscopic models often it has been dubbed as the DTA models.\ud
The purpose of the master thesis is confirming DTA model as aplicable traffic modeling tool on urban and suburban large-scale areas, obtain precise information about delays, path, travel time and speed, etc. Practical work consist of comparison the DTA model versus state-of the art microscopic simulation model. Followed by presenting the development of the base year of DTA model for the area of the Municipality of Ljubljana and the aplication on the different network scenarios
Analysis of regulations direction signs on motorways and highways
Road users need appropriate instructions for safe and comfortable driving. Despite modern navigation system GPS, the majority of drivers are guided by signs for traffic management - signposts during the journey. Signposts can also mislead people and bring them to the wrong destination. The thesis deals with the analysis of regulations direction signs on motorways and highways and lead road users to the final destination. Because of the great speed, the timely detection of the right information is extremely important. In the first part we present the history of the characters for traffic management and current regulations which are in force in Slovenia. In this thesis we present the rules of some other European countries as well, which indicate the tendency for unifying the rules for the whole Europe. In the second part of this thesis we present how the drivers and their passengers perceive the present signs and list some opportunities for improvement through the analysis of questionnaires presented
