    Comparison of functional regions of permanent migration and commuting in Slovenia

    In the bachelor's thesis we modelled and compared the functional regions in Slovenia based on\ud permanent migrations and commuting. The analysis was carried out for each year in the period from\ud 2008 to 2014. We acquired data about migration and commuting between the municipalities in\ud Slovenia from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia (SURS, 2015a, 2015b, 2015c). The\ud functional regions were modelled using the Intramax method. To compare the systems of hierarchical\ud functional regions we adapted and applied the Fowlkes-Mallows index (Fowlkes and Mallows, 1983;\ud Wallas, 1983).     Assessment of Hydrant networks and fire risks in settlements

    To recieve my Master degree I have analyzed the working of hydrant network in the area of Trnovo Residence quarter. The analysis has been done with the assistance of QGIS programe, version 2.10.1. The programe is available on network. The first part of my work concerus with a theoretical description of the workings of drinking water supply system and the water supply in general. The geographical information systems and the basis of fire – security planning and all due precautions are given, too. The discription of legislation in Republic Slovenia follows. The continuation is dealing with the analysis of the hydrant networks in Trnovo Residence quarter, where the hydrants are defined rather suitable or unsuitable source of fire – water supply. The aim was to find out how the whole community is covered with the sources of water – the hydrants. According to the results which I have obtained, the estimation of fire – threatening of the whole residence community Trnovo – the population as well as buildings, was made. It was found out that the quarter is fire – endangered to the fourth degree – which means middle to higher fire risk. In this residence quarter there are public as well as higher residential buildings which are most endangered. Therefore the operator of the water system JP Vodovod Kanalizacija Ljubljana simulated 2 hour – deprivation of fire – water in case of 2 hours lasting fire at the top of the daily consumption.     Influence of soil properties and mat foundation stiffness on the structural design

    This thesis analyses soil-structure interaction for different foundation mat thicknesses, soil properties and subgrade models. Dimensions of foundation mat, loads and load combinations were determined based on Eurocode standards. Mat thicknesses of 25, 40, 55, 70 and 100 cm were analyzed for two characteristic types of soil: soil with a higher load-bearing capacity, for which an average settlement of 1 cm was assumed and soil with lower load-bearing capacity, for which an average settlement of 10 cm was assumed. Three different subgrade models were used: two different two-dimensional singleparameter mechanical models (Winkler´s hypothesis with constant coefficient of subgrade reaction model and a pseudo-coupled concept model) and a three-dimensional subgrade model, where the stress and strain conditions in the soil are more accurately modeled. Finite element method was used for all analyzed cases using SAP200 and Plaxis 3D computer programs. By comparing the results, the distribution of settlements, internal forces in the structure and the influence of different soil properties and subgrade models were analyzed. The comparisons show that results for a two-dimensional singleparameter mechanical subgrade model with constant coefficient of subgrade reaction differ substantially from the three-dimensional subgrade model results, whereas the results using a pseudo-coupled concept are comparable to the results from a full three-dimensional subgrade model

    Positioning of photovoltaic system in space in the area of karst villages Kobjeglava in Tupelče

    This thesis analyzes the spatial planning legislation, the municipal spatial plan and the legislation regarding the installation of solar power plants in the karst area. Furthermore it is analyzed whether the installation of these PV plants is appropriate and in accordance with the spatial aspects of the area. The thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and applicative. The theoretical part uses existing literature to present renewable energy sources, types, features and technical specifications of photovoltaic systems, photovoltaic regulation in Italy and an analysis of the current legal regulations in the field of energetics, energy infrastructure and spatial planning in Slovenia. The applicative part analyses the Karst settlements Kobjeglava and Tupelče, surveys the residents of these two villages about their opinion on photovoltaics and presents the draft of the municipal spatial plan of the Municipality of Komen. Based on the results we have produced four variants of installing photovoltaics in space, which was evaluated by the evaluation method and thus get the best solution for our area

    Diploma thesis is a comparison of software solution for making expert's detailed report of land and building cadaster in the software tools GeoPro and GEOS. User interfaces, functions and structure of software solution were compared on selected cadastral cases. GeoPro and GEOS are used in cadastral procedures of building recording in the land and building cadaster, border regulation, partition and border adjustment.     Determination of the optimum Adiabatic Curve for Mass concrete at the Brežice HPP

    In the scope of this master's thesis we determined the adiabatic curve of massive concrete used in construction of Hydro power plant Brežice. Behavioral understanding of specific concrete components and their influences on development of temperature during concrete drying process was crucial for detailed analysis. For analysis purposes of temperature development in concrete drying process three different mixtures were used and measured during construction of HPP Brežice between August and December 2015. The mixture currently used for installation represented a reference for two other modified mixtures which we introduced with the purpose of minimizing the maximum temperature of hydration process. The first modified mixture contained a low percentage of cement. In the planning phase we assumed that installation of this mixture could represent a major problem, so we compiled a recipe for another adjusted mixture. This mixture contained a smaller amount of cement then the reference, but still higher then the first modified version. On the expense of reducing the quantity of cement we increased the number of fine particles to maintain best possible workability of concrete. After a detailed analysis of the data we obtained through experiments, we have found that reducing the amount of cement in concrete mixture has positive influence on the adiabatic curve. Blend with the minimum amount of cement has reached the minimum absolute temperature, minimum temperature rise and minimum relative temperature rise. This mixture has reached the minimum speed and accelerations of the temperature increase inside the concrete

    The comparison of road link options over the Vršič pass and the selection of the most optimal option

    My thesis deals with the regional road R1-206 Kranjska Gora – Ruska cesta – Vršič – Trenta – Bovec, better known as the Vršič road. It is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountain roads in Slovenia and it has a historic, touristic, broader demographic and national economic significance. When planning mountain roads, one has to follow one simple rule – we should avoid landslide areas and avalanche areas. However, the Vršič road has been boldly planned and its maintenance through history has been irregular and unsystematic. In addition to the water erosion and destructive erosion, Vršič road’s biggest problem is the snow erosion. According to the avalanche cadastre for Slovenia, the regional road R1-206 is jeopardized by at least 27 avalanches which are the main reason for the road not being passable up to 6 months in the period of normal winters. Due to the importance of the Vršič road and these long-term roadblocks, there have been several studies and projects made over the last few decades about the transportability of the road on different levels, which will be further presented and analyzed in this thesis. We have discovered that the only solution for the round the year transportability of the road is the construction of a tunnel with certain safety measures on or by the existent road. We have compared the different versions of the tunnels and in the end presented our findings

    Physical and Chemical Properties of Sewage Sludge and the Final Disposal of Sewage Sludge from the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Kranj

    The aim of the presented study was to examine physical and chemical characteristics of sewage sludge from the central wastewater treatment plant (CWWTP) in Kranj and examine the final sewage sludge disposal. Heavy metals are one of the main pollutantsthat are present in the sewage sludge. Their concentration is very important for the final sewage sludge disposal.\ud In the first part,the study presents the Slovenian legislation of sewage sludge.It outlines the possibilities of the final sludge disposal and decribes the main main characteristic of heavy metals.\ud During experimental work have been monitoring metals in sewage sludge from 2007 to 2013 of the CWWTP Kranj, and we tested composting sewage sludge with wood material.Based on experimental results has been examined possibilities of final sewage sludge disposal fromCWWTP Kranj and optimal solution has been proposed.\ud The results showed that the sewage sludge from the CWWTP Kranj containedhigh concentrations of heavy metals,and was thus unusable on agricultural and non-agricultural area. We considered that the optimal solution of the final sewage sludge disposal from CWWTP Kranj would be composting the sludge with some other material. Such material could be used for remediation of landfills and other degraded area

    Calculation of evapotranspiration using the Penman-Monteith equation

    This thesis is presenting the most important facts in the process of evapotranspiration, with some definitions and Penman–Montetith equation, which is a standard equation for evapotranspiration calculation.\ud In this work a calculation of reference evapotranspiration is presented, using Penman–Monteith equation, for Ljubljana-Bežigrad meteorological station. Several calculation procedures are presented, such as calculation using diffrent time steps of the data (hourly, daily, ten days, monthly) and calculation in case of missing climatic data.\ud During calculations using different time steps (daily, ten-days, monthly), no significant differences were found. When using various calculation methods for calculating evapotranspiration in case of missing data, the correct choice of calculation methods can give satisfactory results

    Analysis of features and posible use of Tekla Structures for multi-material structural design in Slovenia

    My intention is to present software Tekla Structures in this thesis since it is designed for building information model of building structures incorporated of reinforced concrete and steel. The importance of software is being capable of modelling parametric components and connections and also being compatible with other BIM software is a high priority. The second most important is that software creates workshop documentation and thirdly exports information to fabrication with CNC machines. My main purpose is to compare the parametric design of details and classical drawing details. I have been working on a specific project of commercial building. BIM design is mainly modelling only on one element, regardless of different types of export. Tekla Structures operates on the principle of parametric details, as a function of connections the construction elements. To be familiar with all built-in available details is important when you use a modeller because this is the only way to produce high-quality connection in terms of parametric design. I took into account the usability of parametric components in terms of comparisons of hand-drawn details throughout the analysis. I have also made an overview of important details that are often used in specific projects
